4.5 Stars! I really enjoyed this absolutely delightful romantic comedy featuring an Afro-Latina (Brazilian-American) wedding planner and the brother of the man who jilted her at the alter. The premise is that Lina is incredibly uptight and protective of her feelings because past experience has taught her that she has to be. When an amazing professional opportunity comes her way bringing with it an unwanted blast from the past, she has to fight to stay professional and in the running to win, especially in front of her ex-fiancée and his feckless brother, Max, upon whose cooperation her success depends.

I thought the humor in this was fantastic. The description of Brazilian food was amazing and made me want to explore more of that cuisine and culture. I loved the matrilineal family relationships explored in this book and even more so the themes of friendship- both female (between Lina and her cousins and BFF) and male (between Max and Dean) in this. I felt that the exploration of vulnerability in friendships matched the exploration of vulnerability in relationships and what makes a good relationship. I related a lot to Lina because I too have a phobia of losing it in public and seeming unprofessional or risking my heart and leaving it vulnerable to be smashed by someone else. I love that this was a story of growth for Lina (and Max) and for Lina, coming to terms with dealing with emotion and vulnerability in her life.

I thought this was a perfect rom-com and the only thing that made it a little unbalanced for me was that it wasn’t very realistic, it sometimes felt a little Deus Ex Machina and a little slapstick for me, especially with the premise of the blast from the past and the resolution of that conflict. But the writing and themes and story were so good that this didn’t signify much for me. I loved this and highly recommend this as a 4.5 star read.

It’s not love at first sight. There isn’t even any flirtation or lusty happenings until 20%. The romance builds gradually so When the sex finally happens, it’s hot and gratifying. It’s romance, so not expecting too much from the storytelling. Yet the characters are suitably flawed, charming, funny and relatable.

Though I usually the enemies-to-lovers trope. The story felt a little forced, or maybe I just wasn't quite in the mood for this type of book. I appreciated that the main character was Brazilian and they did not shy away from her culture.

Although this is an author whose books I have loved in the past, I found this book very difficult to get into. I love this author and I was really surprised, but the characters just weren’t super interesting. I kept putting the book down and had to convince myself to go back to it. I just did not feel invested in the story. Perhaps it all started from the beginning because I thought the main source of conflict between the two main characters was a bit silly and unfair. I would definitely read more books from this author, though, because I think she’s talented and this probably just wasn’t the book for me.

The Worst Best Man will give you all the feels! It's witty, sexy, and has a happily ever after.  I really enjoyed how the author, Mia Sosa, entwined the Brazilian culture throughout the book. I found myself googling capoeira first to find out what it was, then if I could find a class near me. I couldn't put down this refreshing read. I was not expecting some of the saucy comments, but it was so fun to read. I will definitely not look at a tulip field the same! Beautifully and entertainingly written. It doesn't shy away from the real issue of women having to hide their emotions in the business world which I haven't seen expressed by such a strong female lead.  If you are looking for a sweet, sexy book that features a strong female and a man who isn't turned off by it, then this is your next read!

I really enjoyed this book- I felt the characters were fleshed out and well-developed, and the plot points weren't too over-the-top to render them completely unbelievable. If I had to say anything negative, I feel that the ending was a bit rushed BUT on that account, it's probably because I wanted the story to keep going! Mia Sosa is definitely going on my authors to watch, and I can't wait to promo this to all the romance readers at my library.

After impressing an influential guest, she’s offered an opportunity that could change her life. There’s just one hitch… she has to collaborate with the best (make that worst) man from her own failed nuptials.' Enemies to lovers are my jam! And I loved how the author weaves Brazilian culture throughout so organically.

LOVED THIS! I listened to this via @hoopladigital, but it has been added to my “Books to Buy” list on Amazon. It was the perfect mix of steamy, sappy, and sweet.
Lina is left at the alter by Andrew, and his brother Max has to pass on the message. Fast forward a few years, and Lina is a wedding planner applying for a new job. The problem? Her ex-fiancé and his brother are on the marketing team. Paired up with Max, Lina begins to put together her proposal. Will Max and Lina be able to work together? (They have to.) Will they be able to get together? (There are some STEAMY parts.) Will they stay together? (Read to find out!)

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this one! It was SO CUTE!!! I LOVED the wedding aspect and how they were enemies to lovers with a very very twisted past. It made the entire situation that much more hysterical to get lost in! I really liked Mia’s writing style, it was witty, extremely fun, and the banter was wonderful. Their were so many adorable moments of this book that had me grinning ear to ear and I couldn’t wait to pick this up once I put it down. The ending had me swooning! I also really appreciated the Spanish aspect. As someone who’s Cuban, I loved the huge Spanish family introduced and related to it so much! Very unique to read about! Highly recommend this one, it was adorable!

I’ve been in a Rom Com mood recently and The Worst Best Man fit the bill. It has that fantastically awkward combination of cringe and funny.

Our Heroine Lina was left at the alter years ago by our Hero’s brother. And her ex-fiance is so cowardly he essentially forces his younger brother to be the one to tell Lina, after blaming him for “opening his eyes.” Understandably, Lina has some bitterness regarding the Hartley brothers. So when they are both in an interview for Lina’s dream job, she panics and pretends she’s never met them before. In order to win this dream job, she has to work together with Max, her ex-fiance’s brother.

The banter between the two was hilarious, and while their pranks on each other were a little immature, it was still lighthearted and fun to read about. You could really see their friendship develop as they adjust from enemies to friends and eventually to lovers. The sexy scenes were a little awkward, which took away from my overall enjoyment, but it didn’t feel as integral to the story as their emotional development.

One of my favorite parts was her relationship with her Brazilian immigrant family. How Lina felt like she had to measure up to her mother’s strength and success, how the rest of the world treated her as a Latinx and how she felt she needed to lock down her emotions in order to survive professionally. It was a great addition to the story and added some depth not always seen in a Rom Com.

I do feel like it ended very abruptly and could have benefited from an epilogue. Regardless, The Worst Best Man was a fun read.

I loved THE WORST BEST MAN by Mia Sosa. It’s full of witty banter, funny moments, relatable characters, Brazilian culture, especially the food! There’s family drama and great friendships. Lina is smart, sassy, professional  and I’d love to be friends with her. Max is so charismatic, handsome and has only the best in his heart for Lina as they spend time working together. I loved how each of them helped one another grow from their insecurities and by the challenges presented, and how their romance evolved. Oh,  the passion was off the charts! I giggled and laughed many times and swooned, making the reading experience awesome! I highly recommend it!

Mia Sosa you can really write a funny book. I’m no romance fan but I enjoyed this romance. I know Oprah really liked it and who can argue with Oprah? It just seemed that the romance moved way to quickly for it to have really happened.

Wanted so much to enjoy this book but it’s like watching a pit bull fight. Neither character, in this case, the hero and leading lady, is willing to “drop the tough act”.

Lina was dumped at the altar the morning before the ceremony after the groom Andrew decides he’s not ready to marry anyone, leaving his brother Max to break the news to her.

Fast forward to present time, Max and Lina have to work together but will personal grudges get in the way?

There’s so much sass here, for tension-building: great! Beyond that, it’s irritating and frustrating. Like a fireworks display throughout. It doesn’t let up either. I get the antagonism between them but the verbal duels happening inside and outside of the characters’ mind really is repetitive. 

Has multiple viewpoints: Lina, Max, and Andrew. Incessant talking dominating the pages. Rather difficult to stay on the story.

t was okay. Kinda slow paced and very slow, uneven burn. Not sure that I fully felt the romance, to be honest.

I've loved Sosa's previous books but this one just didn't hit the right spot for me at all.

Mia is a wedding planner in DC. Her dirty secret? Her own wedding was ruined three years ago when her fiancé left her at the altar. And now, she's got the perfect job opportunity, but she's got to work with her ex's obnoxious(ly handsome) brother to get it. With their messy history, can the two come together to get the job done?

This book was such a breath of fresh air. It's a fun enemies-to-lovers story with wonderfully messy protagonists. I love the healthy portrayal of sex and consent. And as someone from DC, I love how much the city played a role in the book. Mia Sosa also has a great sense of humor, and the dialogue was full of delightful surprises. Overall, a fun, quick read that definitely made me smile.

This book was adorable! I love how the story begins with the groom walking away and then jumps from there to future. Mia Sosa is one of my fave writers! 
The brother relationship in this was neat and I loved the character development. The chemistry was electric. Looking forward to more, especially with wedding themes!

I DNF this book. The writing was great and the characters had excellent chemistry but I was squicked by the fact that the heroine had almost married the hero's brother. "Keep it in the family" is not a motto I like when it comes to sex. If you can get over that fact this is a really fun breezy read that is funny, touching and well written. I couldn't though.

It starts off slow and kind of dense, but once the action begins, it's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. It reads as a true epic, one that makes you feel the world really has been reshaped as you read it. Would recommend.

Great book, loved the characters, their humor and ability to give each other a chance. Was surprised at the possibility of a "big misunderstanding" but it was resolved quickly and satisfactorily. Will look forward to more books from Mia Sosa!

Mia Sosa's, The Worst Best Man, is one of the better romantic comedies I have read of late. Combining humor, culture, and crazy happenstance, Sosa doesn't shy away from the sexy parts either. The novel is a nice balance of reality and frivolity. Lina, the wedding planner is a great combination of sassy, goofy and down to earth. Her journey in love and her family connections make her a truly enjoyable protagonist that you will root for.
