This is book 2 in the Stonebreaker series. I did not read book 1 and I think that's why I didn't get into this story. Sort of a fantasy/magic series, I thought I would enjoy this but I don't think I had any background to the land or it's people. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

So much has changed since Carin and her friends began their “journey “. Land once fertile is now underwater, tides have swept away homes and even lives and yet still the spirit that Carin released is with her. Sadly for Carin she becomes separated from those she trusts and becomes a prisoner of a powerful country were her life is in danger but allies exist and Carin is part of a new chapter because the tides have truly turned !
I loved Carin and as much as I appreciated the author giving us multiple views in order to flesh out this world she has created for this reader it was only when the story returned to Carin that I truly enjoyed it. What I will say though is the gender pronouns took me awhile to get used to and perhaps initially took me out of the story. I do realise that we live in a gender fluid world but think it’s very easy to over empathise it . However what happens to Carin was easy to understand and very entertaining with an ending that I most certainly didn’t predict.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
