This is a very fast paced book about survival that follows a girl and her brother after a plane crash. I really enjoyed Emily as a character and the choices she made to help her brother survive. Overall, a good read.

What a beautiful and touching story! Full of action, Nowhere on Earth starts with a plane crash and only escalates from there. I was on the edge of my seat as the events unfolded and audibly gasped more than once.

"Emily felt the earthquake friction of different layers of reality rubbing together."

This book is a quick read and is truly best going in without much knowledge of the plot - I enjoyed experiencing and piecing it together. This one is light on the science fiction elements, the world is our world and there isn't futuristic technology or worldbuilding to understand. Memory and reality, particularly how we experience it, are a common theme but it's an accessible conversation that can serve as a primer for other sci-fi works that tackle these themes.

"We're not lost. We've come through that. We're on the other side of lost."

At its core this is a book about the love Emily has for her brother, and their harrowing adventure on a remote mountain in Alaska. But it's also about acceptance and living in the moment, and perhaps even chasing your dreams. "The future is waiting to be shaped."

Thank you so much to NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book. I found the story to be average and I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I would unfortunately. Good premise though.

2.5 stars.
I enjoyed Emiliy, but found the fantasy -alien - plane crash thing very awkward and it did not really fit.

Unfortunately, this book just isn't for me. I found myself extremely bored. Though it has an interesting premised, I feel like this story just dragged on and on. As much as I wanted to see what would happen, the slow-pacing of the book wasn't worth it.

Nick Lake's Nowhere on Earth follows a teenage girl determined to help a recently made friend return home. This friend poses as her younger brother to guarantee himself safety during the time he's staying with her family and on the trip to where he needs to go in order to contact his own family for pick-up. They end up storing away inside of a tiny delivery plane only for the plane to crash in the wilderness thus cutting their trip from easy to slightly more difficult. They encounter wild animals, men who want to take them 'hostage' in order to study where the 'boy' came from and even have their new pilot friend being injured time after time.

The book itself flowed really well, like it was really well written and I would love to read more from Nick Lake. I loved the energy between the sister and her little brother and even the way the parents interacted with them both even though they don't realize their son isn't actually their son. I loved the good ending and it definitely gave me heartwarming feels.

Thank you to Netgalley for the read!

I purchased this book for my high school library. My students have enjoyed it. and it has circulated well.

This was such a great read! We start off with the thriller, crashed in Alaska setting, and then we gradually get details of why they were on the plane in the first place-and why they're being chased by Men in Black (wearing white, because it's Alaska-snow!)

This book started off really intensely, with the plane crash. And the men in black shooting at them. We slowly get the backstory that's mentioned in the synopsis, while dealing with survival in the wilderness, while also being hunted. It was such a great story!

Aidan's species of alien, was pretty interesting. That their camouflage is to become something that the person wants to defend, that's a pretty cool ability. That he's her little brother, and she has to protect him, help him contact his people so that they can come and get him, it's difficult, but she preservers.

The ending was pretty great, a bit sad, but then there's the gift that Aidan left her, that every moment that ever happened, is still happening in a way, so that the time that they spent together is still happening. That was another pretty cool part of this book.

This was a really great read, and I can't wait to read more by Nick Lane!

This one ended up not being the right fit for me as a reader at this time. I'm sure it's a case of it's me, not the book, because it has an intriguing premise, but it was a miss for me.

Nowhere on Earth was a good surprise to me. It turned out to be a sweet story. Emily and her younger brother Aiden are stowaways on a small mail plane which is heading to Anchorage, Alaska, from a very small town in rural Alaska when the plane crashes. Emily, Aiden, and Bob the pilot have to survive the freezing cold, the bears, avalanches, and men who are trying to kill them. Emily was a wonderful character as she does everything possible to keep her little brother alive and safe. She
does the same for the pilot as the three trek miles through the Alaskan wilderness. Along the way, the three bond over their crazy journey.
I loved the characters, the survival
aspects, and how much Emily loved her little brother!

**Thank you Netgalley and publisher for giving me an electronic ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

It took me a while to finish this book, I enjoyed the premise of it but it didn't really hold my attention. I found it easy to put down and read something else for a while.

This book was strange, but heartwarming. It read more like a middle grade fiction, but would still be enjoyable for some YA readers. E.T. meets Hatchet.

I legit just finished reading this book and I knew I had to write down my immediate thoughts on it so here I am.

This was absolutely weird and at the same time wonderful and amazing and lovely and just marvelous.

A story about a first encounter, about found family, about standing against all odds, a story about letting go of the past and carving your own future

I loved this with all my heart and since I am reading it waaaay past it release date, I had access to the audiobook which is the form I listened to in and I am glad that I did.

I was totally engrossed in writing and the story and the plat moved along in brisk pace and though the stakes were high, the action sequences were spaced apart but the adventure and the journey made it a great book to follow

I adored all the characters and I would love to read another book set following them on another adventure.

Overall this is a great story with phenomenal characters and will leave you with a huge smile on your face with more hope for the future.

I went into this book being very excited, because it started off with the action right away. As we got more into the book, however, I kind of lost interest. I still enjoyed the adventurous aspect of this, but I think it was mostly the character that didn't interest me as much. I did stay up late to finish this book, so I guess bonus points for that, but unfortunately I didn't love this one.

I couldn't help but be intrigued by the cover of this book, which is whimsical and utopian. It is initially what made me want to read it before I even read the synopsis. I instantly imagined it to be a cute indie film about two adolescents who are up against the world. Nowhere on Earth was enjoyable, even if it didn't exactly measure up to the vision I had created in my head. I guess that is my fault in a way, but it doesn't mean I did not enjoy the book.

The story has a captivating narrative of two young kids on the run in the woods from unknown people, it makes for a gripping survival story. Nowhere on Earth was an enjoyable book that combined a thriller and a coming-of-age story. Emily is a likeable heroine with plenty of adolescent angst, and she learns to deal with her feelings for her parents despite being uprooted from her Minnesota home.

With that being said, I did have a few small concerns with the book, none of which were deal breakers, but they were significant enough to merit noting. Although our protagonist is 16 years old and the intended demographic is Young Adult, there are instances when the vocabulary and structure of the writing appear to be younger. Overall, I'd say this book has a Middle School feel to it, but it has an older protagonist, guns (which may cause issues for some), and one rude grown up word for a bottom repeated twice (I believe). Perhaps even the reasoning for Emily's criminal behavior (though it was wrong) seems softer than in other Young Adult fiction I've recently read.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed this book for what it was even if the ending was a little lackluster. After the dramatic action-packed moments of the book, the ending seemed a touch anti-climatic, and I didn't understand the necessity for the continuing short chapters, but these are minor flaws in the work. I think this would make a fantastic indie film, and if I had the talents and the funds, I'd want to film something as lovely as this!

This book is full of action, adventure, emotion, and aliens!

At the beginning, this book grabbed my attention but was also way different than what I was expecting. By the 40% mark, I was making notes for myself about how odd it was. I did not expect this story to involve aliens. If I had known, I don’t believe I would have requested to read and review it. The goodreads summary was pretty short and really didn’t provide much info. I must have misread the part about them being chased by government authorities or I might have clued into it involving extraterrestrial elements.

With that being said, I ended up really liking this book! The author did a good job with the characters and their personalities. Even though the storyline was not what I expected, I found myself wanting to hurry up and finish the book to find out what happened.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys sci-fi books or has wanted to try the genre. This book had an awesome story and flowed well. It was a quick read for me (I finished it in 2 days) because I couldn’t put it down. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was not one that I could see myself re-reading in the future or wanting to recommend to everyone I see and talk to.

Nowhere on Earth by Nick Lake is set in Alaska, which makes it stand out. It is the story of Emily and her ‘brother’ Aidan, who turns out to be an alien, triggering a protective reflex in humans. They are on the run from pursuers, and on the way to a facility that will let Aidan call for rescue from Earth. It is a compelling read, flies by very fast, but there isn’t much substance to it. It felt like it kept missing the mark for me, whenever I thought that we were going to get some emotion and depth, the story moved on. It is clearly YA based on the MC, but from the way themes were addressed it had more of a MG feel to it. And that made the whole book seem a bit disjointed to me. I still enjoyed reading it, but I’m not really tempted to pick up more of the author’s work.
