What happens when you're a nurse and the injured firefighter is your next door neighbor? How long can they keep the feelings under control?

Carmen takes care of her grandfather and has put her happiness on the backburner. When she can't stop thinking about the sexy firefighter will she finally give in and allow herself to rediscover pleasure? Not every guy is like her -ex, will she give Rafe a chance?

If you like firefighter romances, this one is a scorcher.

Ignite on Contact is the 2nd book in the Brotherhood by Fire series from Jaci Burton. I have to say Rafe and Carmen gave me all the happy feels in this book. First of all, they started off as only friends, and I love me a good friends to lovers romance.

Rafe has always been a bit of a player, but he has also always been there to help out Carmen and her grandfather when needed, along with his brothers. Carmen has been all about work and caring for her grandfather since her divorce, and she is not looking for any new relationship, especially with a former player.

I loved the smoking hot chemistry between Rafe and Carmen, and it always felt like more than just chemistry to me, even when Carmen was fighting against her feelings for Rafe. I did like how strong Carmen was, yet hated there was extra drama that felt unnecessary at times. I really loved that Rafe loved Carmen enough to be there even when she pushed him away, and still listen to her feelings and give them validation.

I will say the relationship between Rafe and his brothers is seriously part of the reason I love this book and the entire series of books so much. I love they made a family for themselves even before they were adopted by their parents. The strength of their connection and love gave me all the happy feels as I read this story.

Ignite on Contact was a great addition to this series, and I look forward to reading the next book and getting Kal's story. Those Donovan brothers are smoking hot and sexy firefighters, and I'm here for every moment of their stories.

I loved the first book in this series and I couldn’t wait to read what was next for Jaci Burton and these steaming hot firefighters!! I felt for Carmen so much in this one. As someone whos been helping with caretaking, I totally understood how hard it was for her. I loved her so much! And RAFE!! That man is wonderful!! And so hot!! I was swooning!! I loved how he was there for her through it all! Their dynamic was a lot of fun and of course, Jaci Burton’s writing style is addicting and it was hard to put this book down! Really fun!!! I loved watching Rafe learn what love is! I did think the drama at the very end was a little unnecessary and wrapped up fairly fast but this was still a good read! I lm excited to read what’s next in this series!

I wanted this story from the tease in Hot to Touch (Book 1). I loved everything about this book. I wanted to adopt the grandfather. Quick, delightful read. I just didn't want it to end.

Don’t you just love firefighters? I’m excited to continue on with this series and in this book we get a Latin couple! While there’s only a little of that sprinkled in throughout this book, it was still an enjoyable addition.

I always love a good neighbors to lovers story. I was expecting Rafe to be much more of a player but thankfully he was just a nice, sweet guy. But as much as we all love a sexy firefighter with a heart of gold, Carmen really did it for me in this one. She’s just a strong heroine. She takes care of her grandfather with such selflessness. She’s a hard worker and has pushed through some tough obstacles in her past. It was actually nice to see her open up, let loose and get some fun and happy in her life.

Probably one of the things that threw me and impacted the rating was what happened in the end. While IGNITE ON CONTACT is an enjoyable and sweet read, it was a pretty easy and laid back book. Perfect if you want something pretty low on angst with lovable characters. I’m again looking forward to the next one and see what other troubles the Donovan brothers find themselves in.

I love Jaci Burton! but I only enjoyed this book- I didn't love it. It was a good alpha-male romance though.

This was a really great story about two people that aren’t looking for love, but have no choice when it hits them. Carmen is a dedicated nurse that has been burned in the past and has decided that she isn’t looking for romance in her already busy life. Bachelor Rafe is always looking for a good time. He is attracted to his gorgeous neighbor Carmen and convinces her to go out with him. These two were smoking hot and tried their hardest not to get attached, but like magnets, their attraction draws them together. No matter what blocks they try they can’t stay away.

A derivative romance, with flashes of inspired writing; overall, charming, alpha-male hero and commitment-phobe heroine, who's definitely of the "lady doth protest" too much variety. I can't say Burton tried to do anything original, or interesting, but it's a satisfying read, with fairly likable, if two-dimensional characterization.

Rafe is a firefighter and a no strings hookup man. Carmen is an ER nurse taking care of her father and has no time for relationships or love. The two are friends with Rafe helping Carmen with her father at times. They have an attraction and one hookup could turn into something more if only Rafe can convince Carmen to give it a shot. A good friends to lovers read.

I had a great time with this book! I actually enjoyed this book a bit more than the first book in the series. Both books were really good but I think that I just related to the main characters in this one a bit more. This is the second book in the Brotherhood by Fire trilogy and while it could be read as a standalone, I think that it is best to read them in order if possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic story.

Rafe and his brothers are roommates and they all work at the local fire department. At the start of this story, Rafe finds himself at the mercy of his next-door neighbor, Carmen. Carmen is a nurse who works at the local emergency room. She lives with and cares for her elderly grandfather who has some health issues. Rafe dates a lot and likes to have a good time while Carmen is more serious and hesitant to do anything for herself.

I thought that Rafe and Carmen were perfect for each other. They had amazing chemistry and seemed to be exactly what the other needed. Rafe seemed to feel comfortable in every situation and I love the way that he just seemed to fit into Carmen's life. I liked that they talked to each other about some pretty serious issues from their past. They both did make a few boneheaded moves but I was happy that everything did work out in the end.

I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a wonderful romance that was able to put a big smile on my face. There was some unnecessary drama towards the end of the story but that would be my only complaint. I look forward to reading Kal's story very soon.

The Story in 4 Sentences or Less: Rafe Donovan doesn't do relationships, he loves women but he's just in it for fun and nothing more. Carmen Lewis doesn't have time for fun in between being a nurse and taking care of her disabled grandfather she's too busy but Rafe is interested in her and she knows he's never asked for more from the women he's been with. What could be the harm in making time for a little fun with no strings? But before long Rafe realizes he wants forever with Carmen, except she's not exactly thrilled with the idea of changing their no strings arrangement so he'll have to prove that what they have is real.

Like It? Hate it? Love it? Why? Ignite on Contact brings the heat and some humor but not much else. Especially when it came to believability in the romance department.

Jaci Burton has written some of my favorite romance novels but for some reason I just wasn’t feeling this one. I couldn’t really connect to the plot, and I definitely couldn’t connect to Carmen. I had no trouble with Rafe, he was a charismatic, smart, fun guy. He’s upfront and honest with the women he’s with. I loved his loyalty to his brothers, and how he would do anything for the people he cared about.

It was Carmen that I just couldn’t like. There was nothing really special about her. Her love and dedication to her grandfather’s comfort and care were admirable but her standoffish behavior towards Rafe wanting a relationship with her, her tendency to lash out, and overreact were just too much for me. She seemed to turn into a petulant child with tantrum issues when things got real between her and Rafe and I just couldn’t see past that. I didn’t find the romance believable on Carmen’s side. I didn’t feel she truly grasped how special Rafe was. On Rafe’s part I just questioned his taste in women.

I think what kept Ignite on Contact from totally flopping for me was Rafe’s scenes with his brothers. I loved their chemistry and the obvious affection between them.

Click It or Skip It? Skip It. If you’re new to Burton, this book isn’t the best to start with. If you’re an established fan like me, well this one will probably let you down.

I love a good friends to lovers romance so I really enjoyed this one! It was fun seeing Rafe and his siblings again, I can't wait for Kal's story and I'm just so happy for him with the decisions he made for himself in this book.

Anyway, back to Carmen and Rafe. They're both hispanic and Carmen takes care of her grandfather. I love that even though her grandfather is white (her grandma was hispanic), she calls him abuelo and he might not be fluent in Spanish, they say "I love you" in Spanish. I love that her grandfather tries. I like that they were friends before the relationship. Sometimes the guys tend to be overly cocky but not Rafe, it felt like just the right amount.

Another thing I really appreciated in this book is the fact that the whole getting into a relationship thing took long. Like we actually got to see them together for a lot of the book because often in books with the friends to lovers trope, we only see them together for like a fourth of the book.

Good time Rafe doesn’t do relationships. He loves ALL women. But there is one that has his attention and that’s next door neighbor Carmen. She is someone that he admires as she is very involved with taking care of her grandfather who has health problems, and as she is a nurse she is very knowledgeable about these health issues he has. Then Rafe get injured fighting a fire (he is a fireman…can we say hot in many different ways?) Next thing you know they are spending more time together. How will it end? Or will it end? Hmmm….Read this great story to find out for yourself. This is the second book in the series Brotherhood of Fire and there are still guy to be written about. Can’t wait for the next installment. Jaci Burton is a very good writer that knows how to weave a story. This is just one of her many series. Check her out.
Thanks to netgalley for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

There really isn't another way to say this so here goes... read this book! If there is one thing I love, it's when a known player falls for the girl next door. LOVE it I tell you! Throw in the mix that said player is a really good guy, a firefighter, and has equally HOT brothers... yeah... SOLD! Add in the fact that the leading lady is kind, sweet, hard-working, oh and equally a relationship-phobe? Absolute perfection!

Jaci Burton is back with another  installment of the Brotherhood by Fire series and she absolutely delivers a winner. It's hard not fall for Rafe and Carmen's story. They are strong, independent, hard-working people who really are meant to be. They may not realize it right away, but that's okay, because that is what makes reading this book so entertaining. I am big fan of this author, this genre, and definitely this series, so this book hit the spot.

Raje and Carmen bring a whole new level to the "friends-to-lovers" romance novel... they bring the steamy, sexy side and they bring the sweet side too. Watching (well reading) Rafe fall for Carmen and fight for her to realize how much they are meant to be was my favorite part of the story line. Throw some angst in the mix and you'll for sure be reading long into the night. This is classic Jaci Burton and I couldn't have been happier. Definitely recommend!

Ahh… the Donovan boys…

Are back! Firefighters and heat go hand in hand and Rafe’s story is filled with all that more…
Carmen was his next door neighbour but close proximity wasn’t helping him win her hand. She was everything he wanted - strong, smart, with family at the center. She was worth the effort though and he was going to tempt her one charming moment at the time…

Carmen had her hands full and though she found him attractive, tried her best to ignore the temptation. Trying to remind herself he was a patient didn’t seem to matter when he cared for her and grandfather so much…

This duo was dynamite. The chemistry between them sizzled as resistance met irresistibility. The back and forth was never too much as family, rather than getting in the way, helped bring them together.

Another great read in this series from an author who always knows how to bring heat and emotion to her stories.

Rafe Donovan and Carmen Lewis live next door to each other. They also interact when their job paths cross (he's a firefighter and she's an ER nurse.) Rafe is interested but Carmen is hesitant. She had a pretty bad marriage that she doesn't want to repeat and her life is already full with her job and taking care of her grandfather with whom she lives. Rafe convinces her that he just wants to take her out for a thank you, that it's not a real date.
Things escalate from there with the two of them having lives that get more and more intertwined. But can Carmen trust a known player with her previously battered heart?
I liked the first book in this series a little more just because I connected with the characters more.

Firefighters and Jaci Burton - equal auto-buy!

I enjoy friends-to-lovers stories, and these two were delightful, as a couple. Rafe is so easygoing, which offsets how uptight Carmen. Ignite on Contact is a smooth read with just a bit of unnecessary drama near the end. Once again, Jaci Burton shows that family is more the blood.

The author allows the emotions of the characters to progress the story – often exposing their vulnerabilities naturally.
