I enjoyed this title. It's the 2nd in the series, but you don't need to have read the first one in order to enjoy this...in fact, I ended up putting the 1st one down somewhere in the middle of it and not picking it back up again. So, if you are just starting the series, or didn't really love the first one, you can still enjoy this one.

Rafe and Carmen are neighbors, and they are attracted to one another...and both think that all they are looking for is a fling. But, what they don't know is that this relationship is going to be more than they are expecting. Their families, friends and coworkers figure it out a lot faster than they do.

I enjoyed a lot about this book. I loved that the characters were allowed to be who they are, and that both of them being Hispanic was a part of who they are, but it didn't feel like it was tossed into the book in order for the author to have "diversity" in her book...rather, it seemed like a story about 2 people.

I also loved that their careers were part of who they were and that it seemed like both of them actually had the jobs. Carmen is a dedicated nurse, and Rafe is a firefighter, and both of them are partly defined by these jobs as well as by the things that have happened to them in their lives.

I enjoyed and recommend this title, both for the characters and the storyline.

Another hot firefighter. Check. Long-time bestselling NYT author. Check. Another great story with a great mix of emotion. Check.

Having just read the first book in this new trilogy by Jaci Burton, Hot to the Touch, I have already met Rafe, who now gets his story, along with brothers Jackson and Kal. However, each story can be read as a standalone, but I am too addicted to series (and to the author), than to have read this without reading the first in the series.

Rafe Donovan would like to get to know neighbor and ER nurse Carmen Lewis better if he had the choice. He is not looking for a relationship, as this is something he vigorously avoids. But a bit of fun is not a bad idea. Meanwhile, Carmen is not interested in getting involved with Rafe - even if her fantasies speak a different truth.

However, Rafe is brought into Carmen's ER and things progress from there, despite the baggage they both cart around on their backs. For one thing, Carmen is taking care of her grandfather. More importantly, she had a bad marriage when she was younger and cannot trust her sexy neighbor. Rafe's past is also filled with pain. Just one dinner is all Rafe asks, and that's all it takes for these two.

It has been years, with one exception, that I have been able to engross myself in one of Jaci Burton's books. I think her formula has changed just a bit. Yes, this is a friends to lovers story, but it is so much more. Both Carmen and Rafe are complex characters. I love that this book allowed exploration of their past and the conflicts they had to overcome in order to find happiness together. I also loved the strong sense of family in both books in the series. No man is a mountain, as Rafe and his brothers have proved.

Okay, I love romance. I love happily ever after stories. But I also love substance in these stories. Jaci Burton hit the nail on the head with this one and did just that. I cannot wait to read Kal's story.

Many thanks to Berkley and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I loved the premise of this—friends to lovers, a smart and independent female lead, and hotter than hot firefighter. Who could want more? Apparently me! It just felt like a key ingredient was missing.

I didn’t feel the chemistry between Rafe and Carmen. As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t get on board with their love. With that being said, it was very hard for me to get into the story because of it.

Overall, while Rafe and Carmen’s story wasn’t for me, I am interested in the brothers books. I’d also like to add that this review is definitely a case of ‘it’s me, not you’ syndrome and while my review isn’t favorable; it may be for other readers.

Call me a sap, but the backstory on these brothers makes me positively glow with joy at how far they have come. So of course I need to know all the things!

Ignite on Contact is Rafe's story. Well, Rafe and Carmen's story. Second but not last in the search for love, Rafe finds more than fun with Carmen. He finds his forever, now he just needs to convince the skittish woman of his intentions. All is fair in love...

This was a sweet, sexy, friends-to-lovers story. I enjoyed it very much! It's book 2 in the series, but it stands alone pretty well.

Rafe Donovan has had a very interesting life. His parents were horrible people, and dangerous drug dealers, so he ran away as a kid, and met his brothers, Jackson and Kal, while living on the streets. They took care of each other, and they were doing ok. But, one night, the vacant house they were sleeping in caught fire, and they almost died. A fireman named Josh Donovan saved their lives, and then he and his wife Laurel adopted the 3 boys. So, after that, he was safe and had a great family. He grew up to be a firefighter, along with both his brothers. He likes to date around, but he's never been serious about any one woman. Maybe it's remnants of his messed up childhood, but he doesn't emotionally depend on anyone but family.

Carmen Lewis is an ER charge nurse. She grew up mostly with her grandparents after her mom died, and her dad split, when she was a kid. Later, after her abuela passed as well, it was just her and her grandfather. He had a stroke a few years ago, and her young marriage had ended in divorce, so she moved in to take care of him. The Donovan brothers have lived next door for the last several years of Carmen's time living in her grandfather's house, and they've all helped her out with caring for him, here and there. Rafe has been especially helpful. She's always been attracted to him, but she had no use for a man in her life, after her ex, so she's always ignored the pull. But when Rafe is injured on a call, and she takes care of him at the hospital, he asks her out, to a "thank you" dinner, and she grudgingly says yes.

Rafe and Carmen had a sparking connection, but they both thought they were just going to have a good time, and it would be nothing serious. Best laid plans, and all that! They both felt comfortable with the other right away, since they already knew each other pretty well, and so it was easy for them to fall into a relationship. Once they both realized how much they were starting to care for the other, they had to decide if they were willing to truly open their hearts to love.

Rafe's brothers were awesome, and I enjoyed seeing them again in this story. They have a typical loving, competitive, brotherly relationship, and watching them give each other a hard time was always funny. Carmen's grandpa Jimmy was a total doll, and I loved how he looked after her, while she was trying to care for him. Carmen's best friend, and fellow nurse, Tess, was awesome too. I'd love to get a little short story about her and her amazing husband!

Both these characters had some pretty steep emotional walls to scale before they could imagine really being together long-term. They'd both been hurt before, in very different ways, by people who were supposed to care for them, and they weren't eager to allow it to happen again. I enjoyed watching them both slowly fall in love, and then actually realize they were in love. It seemed to sneak up on them both, and it was very satisfying to read.

This was a sweet story, while still being plenty hot, and I liked it very much! I'm looking forward to Kal's story next! He started training for a different, more elite, type of firefighting job in this book, so I'm curious to see how that changes his life going forward!

I really enjoyed Carmen and Rafes story. It was a long time coming. I like that they didn't have to rush into romance but transitioned from friends to sweethearts/lovers. Jaci Burton really can tell a story.

Firefighter Rafe Donovan always avoids relationships. He loves women but makes sure that they know up front he only wants to have fun and great sex.

ER nurse Carmen Lewis doesn't have time for fun or anything else but work and taking care of her disabled grandfather, Rafe has been there on several occasions to assist Carmen with caring for her grandfather and taking care of things around her house and it becomes clear to her that he is interested in her. She knows he's a player and is very tempted by his charm and incredible body but is tentative about starting anything with him because of her past relationship. But her friend convinces her that she deserves to have some fun.

The fun quickly turns to more but circumstances make Carmen take a step back. Will she give love another chance?

Jaci Burton gives us again a couple who don't think they want true love and end up together. Both have their reasons to not be relationship material.

He likes to be free from commitment and she has too many responsibilities to allow her to think about herself. She also has a grandfather to care for...The plus in their favor is that they are people who care about others...he a firefighter and she a nurse in the ER.

They end up being neighbors, he helps when she needs him around the house and before you know it...they decide friends w/benefits is the way to go...

There are hiccups but in the end...a Jaci Burton happy ending.

Ignite on Contact by Jaci Burton is the 2nd book in her Brotherhood by Fire series. We meet our heroine, Carmen Lewis, as she is working hard as the lead ER nurse. Carmen works long hours, is respected by her co-workers and is very dedicated to her job; she also has the responsibility of taking care of her grandfather. Most of the local police & fireman all know and like Carmen, as she has met many of them when helping those who they bring to the emergency room.

Rafe Donovan, our hero, is a firefighter, whom we met in the first book and is part of the three ‘brothers’ who grew up together and helped each other survive their early years. Rafe, who lives next door to Carmen and her grandfather, always helps them whenever he can. Rafe enjoys dating women, but has no intention of ever having a relationship, he loves his life as it is.

Carmen thinks Rafe is a great guy, always kind, fun and charming, but she is not interested in dating, as she had a bad experience in divorcing her ex. Carmen feels she works long hours, and always has to watch over her grandfather, which allows no time to date, despite her friends trying to convince her to have fun. Rafe himself finds Carmen attractive, but knows she is distant. He will approach her about going out to dinner, and in a short time, they will enter a friend with benefits relationship.

Carmen was a great heroine, and you couldn’t help but like her. She allowed herself to open up to Rafe, and begin to enjoy their time together as a couple. Rafe was the perfect guy for her, as he was not only sexy, but also very caring and always willing to help her and her grandfather. Just when you think that things are going smoothly, and both falling in love with each other, it is Carmen’s past experiences and her worry over her grandfather’s health that will threaten their relationship. Can Rafe find a way to get Carmen away from the memories of her last ruined relationship?

Ignite on Contact was a sweet romance that was very well written by Jaci Burton. I loved Carmen and Rafe together, as they made such a great couple, and their chemistry was sizzling. We did begin to worry, as we rooted hard for their relationship to move to a permanent one. Jaci Burton always writes wonderful romances, and Ignite on Contact was another fabulous story that you should read.

Another solid captivating story by Jaci Burton! Carmen, our female lead, has a second chance at love, but will she take it? Rafe is content with his life but realizes that something is missing. Can he find it with the girl next door? You betcha! It is a fun journey seeing what happens when an ER Nurse and a Firefighter finally give into temptation.

What this book lacked in substance, it more than made up for in steam. Unfortunately, I just didn't love the characters or their relationship. It obviously wasn't the right book for me, and that's ok.

Firefighter Rafe Donovan doesn't do forever, he is just not cut out for it. Sure he enjoys dating and the one night kind of affairs, but that is all the farther he ever lets it go.

That is until Carmen Lewis comes into the picture... it was supposed to be a little fun between friends and neighbors, no feelings or attachments. But love had other plans for these two... the forever kind of plan.

What you find between the pages of Ignite on Contact will squeeze your heart, and singe your fingertips. The chemistry between Carmen and Rafe was evident from the start and their intense attraction to one another kept things consistently hot throughout the entire story. Both were in it just for fun, but it didn't take long for the lines to blur and feelings to take hold, and that's when my heartstrings felt a major tug. I loved this pairing so much, they fit into each other's lives perfectly and complimented one another nicely. I was quite pleased with what I found here, the story line was plausible and engaging, the characters were easy to connect to, and the words had depth and feeling... it was a perfect literary escape! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review

I haven't read the first Brotherhood book, however this did not affect my reading or enjoyment at all.

Firefighter? Check!
Feisty, independant woman? Check!
Friends to lovers? Check!

See, this book ticked a lot of my boxes, but for some reason, I just didn't really feel it with this story.

Rafe is just a cracker of a character, and you could tell why Carmen and the reader will fall for him. I don't know if it is because I missed the first book, but I wanted more of Rafe's background.

Carmen is a strong and interesting characters, even if I wanted to shake some sense into her at times.

I did enjoy reading Ignite on Contact, and I will read the 3rd story, and will go back and read the first one too.

Good story but that drama at the end was just unnecessary.

There’s nothing like a good friends to lovers romance especially when we get to enjoy a great guy like Rafe. Fireman and deliciously hot, he made the story what it is. He is kind and considerate and Burton’s description of him is definitely drool-worthy.

I really enjoyed the female character, Carmen. She’s a hard-working, dedicated nurse that takes care of her grandfather. Her problem is that she’s hiding. She’s been through crap and it’s not looking for any type of relationship. She’s just looking for a hook up. Friends with benefits. Nothing wrong with that.

Carmen and Rafe have it made being neighbors. After all, it can be really convenient when you need to scratch that itch. Yum!

I really love the way their relationship progressed until the end. Carmen had a major meltdown and drama that really did not help the story and made the ending much less pleasurable for me. Rafe took it all in stride and became the one chasing her again. It really should’ve been her. Grrr

Overall, the story was a wonderful read. Great build up, super hot sexy times and a sweet addition to the series. Burton really delivers the goods in this delightful romance. I cannot wait to read more from her! I have so many books to catch up on!

This was a light but enjoyable read. I liked the caring relationship between Carmen and Rafe right from the start - there was genuine liking between them, as well as heat. I thought Carmen's caretaker personality was very well-portrayed, and I enjoyed the relationships between the three adopted brothers.

I love the setup for this series, with the three brothers adopted by the firefighter and his wife. It’s been a while since I’ve ready any of Burton’s books, mostly because there are so many great romances out there and not enough hours in the day. This one wasn’t as fast-paced as I remembered her stuff being, but I enjoyed Carmen and Rafe. I would’ve like to have seen a little more backstory for Rafe, but this was a good, safe story.

I'm indifferent about this book. The premise of the book held promise and the characters were sweet and funny but it all seemed pretty average.
Rafe was a fireman and Carmen was a ER nurse. Besides their paths crossing at work they were also neighbors.
The characters faced emotional highs and lows but I didn't feel any connection between them.
I dislike books with too much drama but I think this could have used a little more. It seemed flat for me.

Not my favorite Jaci Burton book. This one fell flat for me. I love a firefighter book, but this one was a little slow. I didn't love as much as I loved the first book in this series.

I am a fairly new Jaci Burton romance reader. This is book two in a series of 3 books about three kids who were homeless and formed a family and called themselves brothers. Each brother had a different story but one night as kids they were in a house fire and the firman that rescued them were Josh Donavan, after teh fire they adopted all three and gave them a pretty great time. As they grew older they gave them a house as well. And thats where they have lived for the last 4 years. All of the brothers became firefighters as well.

This is book 2 in the series and book 1 introduces bot characters in the story, Carmen who is their neighbor and Rafe who is the middle Donavan. Carmen and Rafe are friends and neighbors but when Rafe is hurt on the job and Carmen takes care of him, he decides to ask her out.

In the 1st book Carmen is kinda a jerk and she is one here at some points. But Rafe must like it because he keeps asking her out until she finally agrees. This is a story about Carmen having to find courage to follow her attraction to Rafe because she had a previous bad marriage.

It was a well writtend and enjoyable romance and it easily stands alone but you will probably enjoy it more if you also read the first book in the series.
