Violet is a daily blogger/vlogger on social media with frank discussions on postnatal depression and family. She has a massive following and when all her social media accounts are deleted without warning on day it causes concern amongst some of her followers.
Told in alternating chapters between two of her followers Lily, a single mother, Yvonne, married who desperately wants a child and Henry, who is Violet’s husband.
Personally I’m not much of a follower on social media except on a few book blogs, so I was interested in the premise of this book. I thought initially it would be more of a psychological thriller but it turns out to be much more domestic. It did take me a while to become involved in this book and at the start I found both Lily and Yvonne quite unlikable but they did grow on me. I was trying to understand why these two women were so upset about Violet’s disappearance and in that instance I found it a bit slow to build but eventually little bits are revealed and enticed me to keep reading.
I did enjoy this book once I became more involved in the plot line and the reveals (I can’t quite call them twists) were not what I was expecting.

This was a slow burn for me, a good story but I was expecting more twists or some Big Bang at the end.

Overall I enjoyed this book and there were definitely twists that I did not see coming but at the same time I had a few issues with the book which is why I had to rate it 4 stars.
This is the story of an internet vlogger and two women who are affected by her in different ways. The internet vlogger mysteriously deletes all of her social media accounts without a word of explanation prompting her fans and the two main characters of the book to go to varying lengths to figure out what happened.
I really couldn't connect with any of the characters, they all did one thing or another that you just could not sympathize with. Also, there were a lot of VERY minor characters that would get mentioned early on and then all of a sudden briefly pop up much later and I had no idea who they were. Finally, the author is a very good writer but the way that she alluded to things throughout the story really drove me crazy. She would mention something that you knew was significant in one brief sentence but then not reveal anything else for the next 10 chapters! I love suspense and psychological thrillers but this one just left the reader hanging a bit too much for me.
The ending of the book was really good and everything pretty much wrapped up. I still didn't like any of the characters by the end of the book but I really liked the twists that the author built into the story. I would recommend this book to psychological thriller fans.

In this drama with very few little splashes of thriller we are trying to find out what happened to Violet, a famous Youtuber that makes vlogs about family and having kids.

However the story does not follow her at all. The story follows 2 big fans of Violet and her husband. We start to get to know them and find out what happened to them and how they started following Violet in social media and their connection to her.

Unfortunately instead of being a thrilling story about Violet and what happened to her, this was just more of a drama exploring different characters that have had big traumas in the past and are having trouble to leave it behind.

I would honestly not consider this a thriller and even though the different stories were interesting and it was a nice quick read, I was expecting a bit more mystery and also some parts about sexual assault were not handled that well in my opinion and that ended up bothering me as well.

I loved this story! I was hooked from page one. I liked that the author included emails, messages to followers and forum discussions because it made the story more layered. I was kept guessing throughout the novel which made it even more enjoyable. This was my first book by the author and it won't be my last.

This psychological thriller hit the spot! It was very cleverly set up and the reveals and buildup were steady. I loved how timely and relevant this story was, dealing with influencers and social media. It was well- written and had a cast of completely intriguing characters.

Social media is everywhere which makes this book very relevant with today's society. The storyline was realistic. It shows the true addiction that social media has become. It is a great read if you are into social media and the way it affects us.

She's got the perfect life, or so her wide audience thinks. We know better, though, and as Ellie and Yvonne start to investigate, little then big secrets and lies pop out. It's told from the perspectives of Ellie and Yvonne- a nice way to keep you guessing. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A well done page turner.

Violet is an "influencer". Yeah, one of those. If you've ever wondered what kind of people follow these "influencers" then this is the book for you. Violet closes down her social media one night and her followers lose their minds. Some more than others. We get to see the reaction of two of those followers, Lila and Yvonne.

The entire book feels very disconnected. Maybe that's the point. This kind of "connections" is pretty remote. People aren't as close as they think they are and they don't really know each other. Even the connections seem disconnected. The ending that brings it all together doesn't do much to change that. Is that on purpose? I guess I won't know.

This was a clever book that was fitting for our time in history. When people's connections to online "personalities" lead them to feeling not only intimate in their knowledge of the people, but also making them feel like they have a right to information above and beyond what the "personality"/influencer wants to share. It's a slippery slope to let people into your curated life, and to share what is public and keep a tight grasp on what is private.

I was reading this book while I was watching an internet influencer I've followed for a few years succumb to her fight with cancer. As I wanted information about how she was doing, and I'd go back to reading my book I felt like I was actually living as a character in the book. I absolutely understood how the characters came to feel a connection and a friendship/love with Violet. I was doing the same with this influencer. I'd feel condemning feelings toward the women in the book - frustrated that they would feel entitled to knowing details about Violet's life, but I was then searching for my own information about the influencer I followed "in real life". It made me sit back and reflect on how internet influencers affect our lives, our real friendships, and our grasp on reality.

An interesting beach read, but made me think a bit more than I had expected.

This was a juicy tale but also a timely one. Proof that "influencers" only allow us to see what they want us to see, and proof that everyone has a secret. I read this one quickly, curious to see what the truth was. And I wasn't disappointed. I thought the story was believable and also slightly terrifying. I was equally invested in all three stories, and I enjoyed each flawed main character. I despised Henry so much he almost ruined the book for me, to be honest. 3.5 stars.

Wow. An absolutely riveting read. I read this so quickly as the story just gripped me.
Violet and Henry are the perfect couple with their three beautiful daughters. There life is documented online. She has a massive You tube following. Instagram etc. Everything is put out there in the media. Then suddenly she’s gone. Every link on line is gone. No trace. What could ever have happened to make her delete all her account.
What happens next is two women’s stories and how they link to violet.
A great page turner and a fabulous read. Well done Charlotte Duckworth

A social media influencer disappears and two of her followers can't seem to let it go. Instead, they jeopardize their jobs and relationships to try and find out what happened. As the story unfolds the reader finds out that there is more to the followers and their intentions than just wondering about their missing "friend." The book provided a very realistic look at how vested people become in personalities (or "brands") created through social media. I chuckled several times when the differences between an internet post and reality were highlighted. Another bonus was that I hadn't expect Yvonne and Lily's personal stories to become so prominent but I really liked it! Grab for a great beach read or even rainy day read (assuming we get some rain).

Now this one was excellent and creepy at the same time! I seriously think y’all will love this one. It was suspenseful and a thriller at the same time.

The story then follows the lives of Lily and Yvonne, fanatics of Violet. They try to discover what has happened to her whilst trying to live their lives without her.
I was hooked less than a chapter in. What a clever plot that just pleasantly ticks along and reveals the character’s secrets and lives but all comes together cleverly at the end and not how you expect.

This is a twisted tale of a British internet blogger that posts videos of her family on social media every day. She has a huge following but suddenly she disappears from the internet and all her followers are anxious to find out why. There are some startling developments throughout and it is the perfect suspense story without a lot of dead bodies lying around. The story is told from the point of view of the blogger and her husband and two of her avid followers.

I highly recommend this book if you want something slightly different but still intriguing.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The multiple viewpoints really added to the story and kept you wanting more. It was a little slow at the beginning, but once I got all of the characters straight I flew through it. It will keep you guessing until the very end. Looking forward to reading more from Charlotte Duckworth.

Unfollow Me by Charlotte Ducksworth is an easy-to-read, intriguing and thought-provoking commentary on the current social media obsession. It’s billed as a domestic thriller, but I think that’s inaccurate. It is part mystery and a small part thriller, but if you’re expecting a typical suspense novel, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.

The story centers around Violet Young, an extremely popular YouTube influencer who features her family and lifestyle in her blogs, but zeros in on the adventures of motherhood and particularly post-partum struggles. We are given the points of view of two followers, Yvonne and Lily who are obsessed with Violet-is-Blue, and require a daily hit of her videos and Instagram posts in their lives. It’s an addiction, and a common one. When Violet suddenly deletes her accounts and goes missing, her fans are in a panic and news of her absence goes viral.

This novel examines not only the mystery of her disappearance, but also the affect her channel and influence has had on these two particular ladies. Unfollow Me explores the obsession we all have with influencers and social media and the far-reaching implications. I do think this story began to drag in the middle and lose its momentum, and it ended rather quietly, in my opinion, without a shocking reveal or big bang, which is okay. It is definitely a worthwhile and interesting read, and carries important topics to ponder.

The title isn't representative of the actual book, which may confuse readers. Having said that... there are three voices we hear from, Yvonne, Lily and Henry, rotating through as the mystery of mommy influencer Violet's complete disappearance from her social media feeds unfolds. Readers of the this genre will know that things are not going to be as easy to figure out as might be in a mystery book, and there are going to be unreliable narrators and facts. Without spoilers, I can say that I was able to identify who early on - there is one twist surrounding Violet's disappearance that I did not see coming. And, as with the best of these books, there's a sense that this could actually happen.
