I couldn't put it down! Lots of twists towards the end and it definitely keeps you guessing throughout. Love the author and have never read a poor book by her. I am looking forward to the next one! |
This book was just ok. I finished it quickly but it really didn’t hold my interest all that much. I have to admit I didn’t see the ending coming and I can usually figure them out. I will try other books by this author. |
This book kept me guessing right to the end. This book is told in the now and the past. The pace is very fast and the plot was gripping. I have heard such good things about Kerrys books so I cant wait to read more. |
Interesting premise but unfortunately lacking the tension and suspense I've come to expect from Kerry Wilkinson. This one failed to grip me as so many of his previous books have done. Disappointed but that doesn't mean I won't be reading any of this books again. |
The premise of Close to You is that Morgan sees her husband in the background of a recent photo - impossible, because not only is he dead, Morgan killed him! That premise made me pick up this book, and I was not disappointed. Morgan is an unreliable narrator which makes the twists and turns in the plot even more intriguing. The story switches back in forth in time, then to now, and Ms Wilkinson achieves the moves seamlessly. I was happy not to have been confused. The pacing is even and fast, the characters complex and layered. I was not happy with the ending, however it made sense given the storyline and characters. 3.5 I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation. |
Really creepy: you look at a photo taken of a group of you. Your dead husband is in it! And you know he’s dead because YOU KILLED HIM! That’s how this book starts so no plot spoilers. It then goes on a rampage and you need to keep up. Strong 5/5. |
Liked this book a lot. Kept me intrigued and wanted to keep reading to find out! Thank you so much to Net galley! |
Oooh this book was good!! The blurb really drew me in for this one too an I knew it was a book I would need to get my hands on and I had read it within a few hours of it landing on my Kindle! I liked how the story was told, and the way it was told from present to the past and back to give you an added dimension to the story. It has a wonderful flow to it that had me hooked right from the outset and I found it to be very additive. The characters were really well planned out, their personalities all worked so well together and I loved seeing how they developed. It is 4 stars from me for this one, it is another strong release from this author and I am definitely looking forward to what he releases next – this one is highly recommended by me! |
This was a lot of build up and not much of an execution. I saw all the shocks coming and wasn’t happy. I will still read more from Kerry as I love his writing. Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. |
I was hooked.from the start I really enjoyed the storyline the writing just flowed I liked the main character Morgan and didn't guess what was going to happen I was gasping at parts of the book didn't want it to end. |
A brilliant premise for a thriller, ex wife sees a photo of ex husband at an awards show. But that can’t be as she killed him years before. What ensues is a wild game of cat and mouse culminating in a thrilling conclusion. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the arc. |
I have become a big fan of Wilkinson, largely because of his Jessica Daniels series, so anytime I can get my hands on one of his books, I do. The book is about Morgan, a fitness expert whose husband disappeared three years ago. The story opens with Morgan confessing that she actually killed him, a plot twist immediately followed up by a sighting of him. Was he actually still alive? From there, the story switches between the present, with mysterious sightings of David and unexplainable text messages, and the past, giving an explanation of why Morgan killed her husband. I liked the setup of the book, going between past and present to discover what happened. I also was a fan of the actual plot, Morgan having killed her husband or maybe not. The part where it dropped to 4 stars for me was the actual ending. The book had a beautiful setup for one ending and then veered in another direction, which was fine, but I think it could have been a better ending. I still love Wilkinson’s writing and would recommend this book, along with any of his others! |

Having read many of Kerry Wilkinson's books, I guess you could call me a fan. Close to You is a unique story line, very unique in that the "heroine" in the book killed her ex to escape a violent life. Now she's seeing him everywhere she goes, or is she. The story bounces clues so you are always wondering if she's losing it or is her ex really still alive? Just about the time you figure it out, nope, that's not the right answer. Another great read from a very talented author. |
Having read multiple Wilkinson books in the past, I really looked forward to this one and I was not disappointed. It was twisty, suspenseful and with a huge twist at the end that I don’t think that anyone will be able to guess. Morgan is hanging out with her friend Jane, an amateur photographer who tries to capture everything she sees on film, when Morgan looks at one of Jane’s photos and thinks she sees her dead husband David. How is that possible when Morgan knows she killed him herself? When he continues to show up at the most unexpected times and places, Morgan is determined to solve the mystery and do away with David once and for all. There were no really obvious clues to help me solve the mystery and I loved that I had to work at solving it...and I was still wrong! Loved that! Throughout the book, the suspense was building slowly; it was almost like a living being hanging around on my shoulder. It was very intense for me! My favorite thing about the book is that it is told in two time frames, the present and the past. But the past is not called the past; instead, it is called the “why” and I really thought that was brilliant! Fans of fast-paced and quirky thrillers will enjoy this one for sure! |
Wow, what a great book this was!!! I have read quite a few of Kerry Wilkinson’s books and this one sure did not disappoint. He really hit a home run with this one. This was a stand alone book. This book was about a woman who thought she was going crazy. She kept seeing her husband who disappeared many years earlier everywhere she went. But she knew that it couldn’t be true as she had killed him and got rid of the body herself. Or did she? Is her mind playing tricks on her? Did he have doppelgänger? Or does someone knows what she did and they are out to get her? All these questions and more are answered. I want to start off by saying that I loved the storyline this book had to offer. I loved the fact you knew right away that the main character killed her husband and you were trying to figure out the whole book whether that was true or if he came back from the dead to haunt her. I couldn’t wait to find out whether this woman was crazy or not. This in itself made it a quick and great read for me. The main character was definitely not likable but that was what the author was going for. He wanted you to know that this person had evil inside of her and she was not this innocent person she betrayed herself as. All of this made the twist at the end so great. I couldn’t believe who was responsible and why they did it. It truly made me believe that no matter how nice a person seems on the outside there is always a mean person waiting on the inside to get out. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ |
I was happy to see that Kerry WIlkinson had a new book out and was excited to read it! I have enjoyed his other books and was ready to dive into this one. I have to say though that it took me a little bit to get into this one. It had sort of a slow beginning for me but did pick up towards the end. This story is written between the then and now at the perspective of Morgan. The timeline was very easy to keep up with and I enjoyed going back and forth to see what happened then and what was going on in the present. Morgan is attending an awards ceremony when her friend snaps a picture for her and sends it to her. Morgan thinks her eyes are playing tricks on her because in the background, she sees her husband that disappeared some time ago, or that is what everyone else thinks. Morgan knows something different. Morgan know that it could definitely not be David because she took care of him, or did she for sure? Morgan's mind goes back and forth all the time wondering what happened and what could have happened. Was she sure or not? When things keep popping up that make Morgan really wonder about whether David is for sure taken care of or not, she thinks she is going mad. She does not tell anyone though. When it all comes down to it, who is the one really playing jokes? You won't guess who this one is until the end. I didn't see it coming anyway. Kerry Wilkinson has given us another great thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for sure. You will not want to put this one down once you get into it. I recommend this one for all the thrill lovers for sure. |

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc. I absolutely adore all of Kerry Wilkinson's books. I really liked this one too but it didn't grip me like the others. I was continuously waiting for the exciting bit to kick in but it never happened. |
Overall I enjoyed the book, it was fast paced and kept me intrigued enough to keep reading. However the ending was just under whelming and was expecting something different. Thank you netgalley, publishers and author for a chance to read this book. |
Overall was a good book, kept my interest with decent twists and turns and the like. I’ve read other books by this author and it’s definitely entertaining, although the end left me a little “meh”... |
