Thank you for the chance to read this new author. I was shocked to read that this was her first book because it was incredible writing and story-telling. The characters especially and obviously Jessie were very fleshed out in various ways that suited the story, I am a fan of strong female characters who try and stand on their own and fight for what's important to them. I did figure out small pieces but not entirely 'the why' until presented by the authoress at the end of the book. The theme is clearly dark at times and sad and I will say triggering at times for those victims of crimes....assault, rape, and even murder. I very much enjoyed learning more about Jessie as the story played on and I am very curious as to what comes next for her because this is listed as book #1. in her story. I look forward to reading #2.

Wow...this book was extremely unexpected. I didn't expect much from this book but I was wrong. From beginning to end, every page was a thrill ride. I was hooked right from the start. If this is the debut novel, I can't wait to read more.

This mystery will keep you guessing until the very end. This story was crafted in such a way that kept the reader trying to put the pieces together just as quickly as Jessie . If you enjoy a puzzle piece mystery that slowly comes together that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the perfect story for you.

Jessie Tucker is a journalist in New York City; she is also the recovering survivor of a random attack in Central Park twelve years earlier. When the body of a young woman is found with injuries similar to her own the memories begin to return for Jessie who starts to question her past recollections of the event which changed her life forever.

After the brother of the victim arrives from California a simple case suddenly becomes complex encompassing local politics, law enforcement and media as well as involving war veterans and mistaken identity. As Jessie delves deeper she is certain her own case resulted in a miscarriage of justice that needs to be rectified.

This was a good book if perhaps a little long. In places the description and dialogue was definitely more than was necessary and the author seemed to need to cover every possibility before solving the case. As a first book in a series however, the character development was believable and Jessie looks an interesting protagonist to follow through into future adventures.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it to lovers of new talent in the crime and thriller genre.

A slightly edgy procedural with aspects of suspense woven in, far from the psychological thriller portrayed by the blurb. It hosts lack-luster characterization, familiar trope, and a superficial plot line that fails to keep pace in an overpopulated genre. Dana Perry’s writing feels as if it is being pulled from her rather than it flowing fluidly to the pages. The cover is beautiful and the premise is strong, unfortunately the delivery is weak. 2 stars.

I really enjoyed this psychological thriller! So many levels of domestic drama, political secrets and good cop/bad cop. Loved the characters. So easy to fall in love with the star of the book Jessie Tucker. And also easy to strongly dislike and be suspicious of the local police force and political drama.
So many thrilling twists and turns. The book caught me from the very beginning and just could not put it down. Lots of wonderfully intense emotions in this book! I highly recommend it!

Jessie Tucker is a reporter working on a story that has one too many loose ends for her. She isn’t convinced the police have the right guy. The more she digs into the story the more questions she has. Years ago Jessie was attacked and barely survived. She now has questions about her own case too. She is up against some very powerful people.

This book grabbed me from the first. It’s a great story with all sorts of twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it figured out the author veered off in another direction. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

An excellent novel that really draws you in. I was immersed in the storyline and couldn't stop reading well past my bedtime. Highly recommended.

The authorities believe it was a random attack, but Jessie’s memories and her reporter’s skills of observation say something different. The victims wounds are nearly identical to the ones that nearly killed Jessie, but if the man convicted of attacking her is still in jail, who is responsible for the recent murder? The police are incredibly stupid in this book, leaving a reporter and former victim to solve their case for them. It seems a little far fetched, but the heroine is (obviously) very smart and likable
