What an adventure this was. Just when you think you know what's going on, there's another sharp twist. Good and fun read.

I gave this book several tries but I couldn't do it. The characters are unlikable and the story line isn't engaging. I felt like the part I did read revolved around Simon being manipulative and creepy and Nina being naive and putting the needs of Simon over her children. After all she had been through I would've expected more from her.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book.

Review #71 THE NEW HUSBAND by DJ Palmer and reviewing for Netgalley.
When Nina's Husband Glen goes missing she discovers he wasn't who she thought he was. Later, she becomes involved with a local school teacher,Simon, but is he the person she thinks he is or is he the very definition of pure evil? Great story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐Four stars.

Thanks to Netgalley for a ARC for my honest reveiw. Glen disappears from his fishing boat. Nina is left in limbo for 2 years until Simon shows up to save the day! Is Glen missing or dead? Is Simon as perfect as he lets on to be or is he hiding something? This book had so much build up in the first half of the book and then became really good in the second half. I enjoyed it a lot more when the questions and suspense came into play!

3 stars = 'liked it' and that is generous

Seeing the other reviews for this book leaves me feeling like I read a different book from everyone else. I don't understand all of the 5 star reviews. From chapter 1, I saw where this was going. I kept reading, hoping that there would be that twisty turny 'a-Ha!' moment, but it didn't come. Someone else said that the book was like reading a Lifetime movie and I have to agree. I had a hard time getting into it, and had to force myself to finish it.

Thanks to the publisher and author for the eARC in exchange for my review.

When I started this one had a hard time getting into it. Wanted to see what happened though, and glad I stuck to it as it got better and better. Was an enjoyable read.

Thanks to the publisher and net galley for an early release of this book.

Once I started reading this book I couldn’t stop! I had to know what was next! What a roller coaster ride. You never know what’s going to happen next! Definitely one of the most thrilling books I’ve read all year!

Nina Garrity’s husband Glen went missing while on a fishing trip & she soon learns her marriage isn’t what it seemed. After a little more than a year his body hasn’t been found and she now considers herself a widow. By chance she meets Peter Finch a local school teacher at her daughter Maggie’s school and a whirlwind romance begins. Nina’s son Conner develops a relationship with Peter but Maggie has seen a dark side to Peter and needs to prove it to her
mother before something bad happens
D.L. Palmer didn’t disappoint me.

Thank you for this ARC!

SO GOOD! I loved this book. I am a huge psychological thriller fan and sometimes it feels like you read the same story over and over. Not this one! I couldn't wait to get to the end (it actually made me tear up!) but was sort of sad that it meant the story was over.

Def have a new author to watch!

Wow Just Wow!!!!! This is truly Psychological Suspense at its best!!!!! When a truly perfect Prince Charming sweeps in and consumes a grieving family there are reasons no one imagine. This book starts with the disappearance of a husband who has many secrets and reasons to disappear. In a perfect storm of events Simon Fitch appears to save the day. The story unwinds to reveal Prince Charming is pure evil. But the road to that discovery is full of so many twists and turns the reader is left truly breathless. This is a must read (le

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Nina experienced most people's worst nightmare. Her husband had an affair and vanished. No one knows if he's dead or alive. But things take a turn when her now-fiancé, Simon, comes to the rescue. He seems to be the perfect future husband and absolutely adores Nina. Best of all, he is a teacher at her children's school so she knows he's great with kids. Things may not be as they appear though... when Nina seems hesitant to get married quickly, Simon slowly begins to reveal another side to him that she hasn't seen before.

This was amazing. I was able to somewhat predict the twists, but this kept me turning the pages the entire time. My heart was racing for most of the book as I learned more about the characters and their backstories. I found myself frustrated and holding my breath as Nina ignored her family and friends' warnings about Simon's possessive behavior and rushed to keep reading hoping for things to start getting resolved. Palmer did a brilliant job--I had to avoid reading this book late at night because I was creeped out! This was truly a thriller that will make your heart race and I definitely recommend.

Wow. What a wild ride! Just when you think you’ve read it all before, comes ... The New Husband!
Having enjoyed reading Saving Megan , I couldn’t wait to dive into this book, and dive I did, I wasn’t prepared to be consumed like I was. This book was a twisty, dark, psychological read ,that will haunt you long after you turn the last page.

Great book! Suspenseful! Nina finds out her husband is missing. She finds out he lived a double life she or their children knew nothing about. Glen supposedly drowned while fishing All they found is their dog and blood on the boat. Nina meets a man named Simon about a year later. He’s a teacher at her daughter’s middle school. Maggie is not happy her mom moved on so fast with Simon and neither are her friends. Are they right? Did Nina unwillingly put her family at risk?

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and D.J. Palmer for an ARC of The New Husband in exchange for my honest review.

After the husband is presumed dead, the wife moves in with the new boyfriend, along with her 2 children. The daughter isn't a big fan of the boyfriend, and while there are many clues woven into the story line, the book doesn't give up any of it's secrets until the end.

This was a great read, and should be put on everyone's TBR list.

I really enjoyed this thriller. The story is of an unsolved disappearance, a family trying to get on with their lives, a mother in a new relationship and a daughter with questions, well written and suspense filled. I had a hard time putting the novel down.

Have you ever read a book that makes you want to put it down, not because it is bad, but because it is THAT GOOD?? I didn't want it to end! It reminded me why I like suspense novels so much... The anticipation, the jaw dropping twists, and the redemption ( the book MUST have redemption!) I LOVED this book! *
4⭐
The New Husband by D.J. Palmer was everything I hope for in a book. It had suspense, anticipation, angst, plot twists, little bit of romance (sort of) and redemption. I found myself getting mad at Nina , but I think you are supposed to. You are supposed to question her, and cheer her on. But it was Maggie, Nina's daughter, that I really loved! Yes she is a typical teenager ,but her love for her mom and dad was always her main motivation. *
D.J. Palmer told an angst filled story with awesome characters and I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I felt like I’ve read this book before. I’m looking through my past reads because this story sounds familiar. It was ok, but familiar. Also, Nina is an idiot. I was hoping for more because I loved the authors prior book.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC

Received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a new author for me, and I was excited by the idea of this mystery suspense book.
Soon after starting the book, I felt like the plot was very familiar and predictable.
The main character was very frustrating with her naivete attitude. After her husband passes away, she moves on to a new man.
Right away things seemed too good to be true.
The book has some strong points. It is a good beach read, for anyone that enjoys a mystery.
