What an amazing contemporary cowboy romance with unforgettable characters and a beautiful story that immediately pulled me in and kept me totally immersed in all that was happening - I laughed, I cried, I sighed and loved every minute. I was so involved in the book I didn't want it to end. I loved the attraction and undeniable chemistry between Amanda Kittredge and Brady Everett. Ms. Crews has given us another winner in "The Last Real Cowboy" and I look forward to book four in this must-read series. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and a voluntarily leaving my review. |
Loved this book. The wallflower and her cowboy. Amanda is ready to brake out of her shell. It’s time for Amanda to move out of her comfort zone and find her own place in the world. The first step is to move out of the family home. Step two get the love life she always wanted. Can the simple girl get the man? Brady has his own family situation to sort out but when Amanda asks for his help. A deep feeling surfaced. He wants what she’s offering but feels its wrong to take it. He’s a friend of her brothers. She’s sweet and innocent. She could be a reason for him to stay. I really enjoyed this book. Amanda is a sweet character and she heats Brady’s world up. I liked the family background story and the way their romance sparks one step at a time. *I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley. This can be read as a standalone but it’s book 3 in a family of brothers. |
I do love a story with a cowboy. And who doesn't like a little forbidden love. That being said, the forbidden in this story seemed out of place when she is 22. I get she has been sheltered and her big brothers kept everyone away, but Brady not noticing her being a grown women until she was wearing a low cut tank top seemed a little odd. I did love how she loved him forever and I did love how in the end he fought for her. I didn't think they had the best chemistry. I did love how in the end she also stood up to his family even when she thought they never would be a couple. I think the best part of this book wasn't the H and h relationship, it was Brady and his brothers finally putting the past aside and becoming brothers again. 3 1/2 stars for me. |
Amanda lives in cold river, Colorado.Brady and her do not get along . Amanda has not gone to college. At twenty two she has only gone on three dates. I did not feel an connection with Amanda. |
Too lengthy. There was so much added details that add their story just keep going.... going.... going. 95% of this story I didn’t feel Amanda’s or Brady’s connection or sparks, that only happened after the breakup in the barn, they were more like a virgin just given her crush the go ahead Alf deflowering her/ onenighter you just met. I’ve been nursing this books for days and after 4 days I just skimmed through parts that was to long. My attention was never held and I love to read romances that’s the main characters have a past together either old school loves, brother’s/sister’s best friends or just know each other since elementary school, this was only great at the last few chapters. |

Amanda is fighting for independence, for herself, and from her family. Her brothers don't like it and decided their friend Brady is the perfect person to keep an eye on her. Amanda, having had a crush on Brady forever, also has a proposal for him--one he can't refuse. She wants it to happen fast, but he wants to go slow. Will it happen before he goes back to Denver? Brady knows her brothers will kill him if they find out what he's doing with Amanda, but he knows he'd rather be "the one" than just some other guy. He's not worried about his heart--he doesn't do love. He's still trying to prove himself to his own family, so he understands Amanda. What he doesn't count on is Amanda facing his family head-on. For him. No one has ever stood up for him. Ever. Two strong heads, fighting for a place in their families, find love, but will their plans for the future get in the way of the love they have for each other? A fantastic story! **Received an ARC from Netgalley* |
I've read the first two books in this series, and I liked book one but wasn't thrilled with book two, so I was hoping for a tie-breaker in the positive with this third book. Sadly, that was not to be. For me, this one was just a hot mess all the way around despite the presence of some favorite romance tropes. I tend to be drawn to cowboys, but wow - if Brady is The Last Real Cowboy then cowboys are in a sad state. And it's not that I even minded him being a jerk, or I wouldn't have if he'd shown half the heart I would expect in a romance. And maybe that's a big part of the problem, I never really felt the romance here. This one is also an older man/younger woman romance, which is usually right up my alley, but again, this one didn't work for me. Honestly, ten years difference isn't that much when the characters are both adults, but for Amanda and Brady, it felt like much more. The fact that Brady thinks Amanda is still in high school is a big ick factor for me. Then he finally notices her when he gets a glimpse of some cleavage? Here's where I refer back to Brady being a jerk. Then again, I can't really say that I liked Amanda any better. If she wants people to treat her like an adult, maybe she should try acting like one. And I'm sorry, but having sex does not make one an adult as has been proven by teenagers for generations. Then we have Amanda's brothers, who were just caricatures of the protective older brother in my opinion. They're just too over the top to be believed. And that brings us to the brother's best friend trope, which really isn't one of my favorites, but it's the least of my problems with this book. In the end, this one was just much too long with a lot of page time taken up by everybody disagreeing with everybody else, and the couple did not work for me. It isn't one I'd recommend. |

Having read the one before this I thought I would read this one also. This one is about Amanda whom starts out as a good girl. Than there is Brady whom she wants to be the teacher the noise he makes is funny. These two will have you following along to see where this will go or not. But being this is set in a small town things will be tight. Do not forget how families can fight too. This will go in a direction though we will love to follow. This was one that give so much delight. |
Amanda has always had a crush on Brady, her brother’s best friend. She decides to move out of her family’s house and live above a bar where she is working. Brady always saw Amanda as his little sister until he comes back to town and goes to the bar where she is working, and he sees her in a whole new light. Brady doesn’t believe he is marriage material and that Amanda being 10 years younger than him isn’t ready for a relationship. Will she convince him otherwise? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and steam. I liked it. |

Amanda Kittredge is the youngest of five siblings as well as the only girl. She is 22 years old but her brothers continue to think of her as a young teenager. Brady Everett is best friends with her brother and was brought up by a father who was mean and hateful and never wanted anything to do with him. This story shows Amanda getting her independence and Brady learning that he is not like his father and it took the love and support of Amanda to show him. I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley/St. Martin's press in exchange for my honest review. |

A wonderful romantic story. Amanda Kittredge is the little sister of Brady Everett’s best friend who has three more brothers. Amanda, a virgin, has had her eye on Brady for a bit. Brady only sees her as his best friend’s little sister. According to him, she’s off-limits. Until that day when everything changes. This has all the ingredients of a good romance: he’s a cowboy, he’s older, he’s a cowboy…Once they get their hands on each other it’s touch and go. Brady knows only too well that he has to break it to Amanda’s over-protective brothers that his involvement with Amanda has crossed a line and deal with their fury. Amanda is on her way to getting out of the suffocating watchfulness of her brothers. THE LAST REAL COWBOY is sexy, fun and entertaining. |
The Last Real Cowboy is the third installment featuring the Everett brothers, this time featuring youngest brother Brady and perineal “little” neighbor Amanda. This was a solid read and a good conclusion to this part of the series. I found myself liking both Brady and Amanda and appreciating the emotional growth they both went through. Seeing Brady struggle with being attracted to the much younger Amanda added an element of humor that I wouldn’t have expected. Not only did I enjoy seeing the Brady/Amanda story unfold, but I also liked seeing the story between Brady and his brothers. Their evolving interactions shed even more light into baggage Brady was packing. Overall, a good cowboy story that brings one part of the Cold River stories to a conclusion. I am hoping there will be stories with Amanda’s brothers soon! |

Both Amanda and Brady are the "babies" of the family. Looked down on and considered young, their desire to be thought of as "good enough" is one of their over riding wishes. Amanda is funny, quirky and smart. While not always the most mature, her love for Brady is very plain. Brady struggles with his lust/love for her. But with her being 10 years younger, the relationship will be difficult. Will they be able to survive what comes? Will the temptation of the forbidden be too much to handle? |

I enjoyed this book as the last one from the Everett brothers but I’m really hoping there are more from Cold River because the Kittridge family has a lot of boys that need an HEA. In this one we get Brady’s story. In the other books he is portrayed as the know-it-all city slicker. But that isn’t really him and I liked getting to know what made him tick. We also got to learn more about Amanda Kittridge who I honestly would respect as a real person because I would have punched all of my brothers had they acted the way her’s did. So the storyline was a slow burn but it ended up with a great HEA. The last chapter was more of an Epilogue though than a true last chapter and it seemed a bit out of place but it was fine. I’m hoping for more from this author in this small town in Colorado. |
Wow! 2020 is off to an amazing start in my quest to read from more new authors. I’m definitely new to this one so she fit the bill... I love it. I devoured it...so good. The characters were absolutely amazing and it was a new angle at clearly old school novel. Amanda is a wallflower... at the age of 22 she wants to be noticed. Her older brothers make it impossible for her to lose her VCard, and finally she has had enough. What did I like? I LOVE the new angle, it was so much fun to watch Amanda come into her own, and not back down one bit. That has to be hard to have older brothers like that...such a pain. Brady had some issues of his own but once he really noticed Amanda, he had his hands full. Would I recommend or buy? Oh yea. This is such a good book. I’m really glad I gave her a chance. I will definitely be checking her out in the future. Buy, borrow, or beg this book. It is so good. I smiled so hard through it. Thoughts for the author? I am a new fan, but definitely a fan. Congratulations on your new release. Job well done! I’m hooked. |
Normally I hate age gap and virgin stories. So sorry, slight spoiler there. They just make me roll my eyes, I don't know what it is, just not my cup of tea. I did not read the description on this one first, because I had already read the first two books in the series, so I just jumped in. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Amanda wasn't as immature as I expected her to be, considering. Brady actually got me towards the end. I don't want to give anything else away, but it turned out better than I expected from where it started, and it wrapped up really sweet - sadly I think this series is over. I've really enjoyed the series as a whole, so I hope there are more books. |
so i'm not usually a fan of the virgin begging her brother's best friend to take her virginity stories, and the last real cowboy is actually one of those stories. but amanda kitteridge and brady everett have chemistry and baggage in spades that lends some emotional heft and some solid backstory that lets you move past the trope if you aren't a fan. i did want to basically kill brady's entire family. and when amanda finally puts them all in their place it was so well-done and just perfectly timed. no wonder the guy thinks he can't be with anyone, his entire family is filled with toxic jerks. i didn't read the brothers' books, and you don't really need that to understand the dynamics here, but i'm not tempted because i hated the brothers so much and can't imagine spending a whole book with them. presumably they aren't as toxic in their own stories. anyway, in the end, i enjoyed this. **the last real cowboy will publish on january 28, 2020. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/st. martin's press in exchange for my honest review. |
There was some sweet moments between Amanda and Brady, and they do have a steamy connection. I just would’ve liked it if he noticed her before he saw her in a skimpy tank top; it seemed too superficial. I liked the whole brother’s best friend scenario and keeping a secret for a bit, it adds a bit of heat to the romance. Amanda is tired of her older brothers; well, really everyone treating her like a child. She’s 22, but her brothers are still trying to rule her life and scare off dates. She moves above a seedy bar and gets a job bartending there; to the chagrin of her brothers, in hopes of being more independent. Brady sees her there and starts finally noticing her, but doesn’t want to get on his friend/her brother’s bad side, so he tries to resist. Amanda isn’t having it and propositions him. I’m not a fan of this whole thing; no strings type things just make me think the characters are morons and it’s used so often in books, so I’m just tired of this scenario. I still enjoyed the story though. It does move a bit slow at times; too much side stuff and family drama, but the book is written well. Brady and Amanda both aren’t really seen by their families, so there’s tons of family issues to be sorted. I loved that Amanda calls Brady out when he’s acting like a moron. She’s a likable, fun character. Brady is okay, but I wanted more grand gestures from him. Still a sweet couple though. I haven’t read any of the previous books or any other books by this author. I’ll probably check out the previous books because the characters are in this book and their stories sound like they could be interesting. |
Amanda is a sheltered sister and daughter to a ranching family in their small town. She decides that at 22 that no one sees her as more than little sister of Kittredge family she has had enough. Being sent to the kids table at family gathering was the last straw. Amanda packs her bags, moves out and gets a job at the seediest bar in town. To top it off, she decides to live in the apartment above said “seedy” bar. Brady is home to help work on the family farm. Not happy about his 1 year commitment to the farm, he seeks refuge at the seedy bar Amanda is now working. Being the best friend to Amanda’s brother, Brady has never noticed the woman Amanda has become until he walks into that bar and sees Amanda in her work attire. Amanda’s brother asks Brady to look after Amanda. But Amanda has other plans, she wants Brady to teach her the ways of men and all that entails. Ten years older than Amanda, Brady finds himself swept away by the firecracker that was hiding under everyone’s noses. Passionate and explosive read, The Last Real Cowboy takes the slow burn to inferno levels. The plot moves quickly and engages the reader in both Brady’s and Amanda’s struggles to be seen as the people they’ve become and not just the preconceptions cast on them from family and friends. I received this ARC copy of The Last Real Cowboy from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. |
3.5 stars rounded down. I enjoyed this one pretty well. The only negatives were the virgin heroine story line and the fact that now that she’s not a “kid” anymore, he’s immediately attracted to her. At least that’s how it felt to me. There is a deep connection between the 2 characters that I wound up enjoying. |
