I love Detective Inspector Gina Heart and have really enjoyed all her outings . This is no different . Really quick to get into and fast paced . When Susan doesn't show up to pick her son up from nursery everyone is concerned . When Gina and her team get the call they find out that Susan is involved in an acrimonious divorce , she does not get on at all well with her sister and had a very troubled past . With more suspects that you can shake a stick at , this was a great read . The subject matter very current and well handled/written . Another 5 star read for me .

I have been fortunate enough to have received every book of this series as an eARC to read and review. This latest installment is just as good as the first four and I can't wait to read book 6. Detective Gina Harte has become one of my favorite female lead characters.

Carla Kovach has created a strong, resilient leading character that struggles with her own personal demons while solving some of the most horrible crimes and at the same time leading a team of investigators that respect her. Throughout the series, you see her grow, struggle and overcome personal and professional dilmenas and come out stronger in the end. This is a well-written, well-thought out series and I look forward to seeing a lot more in this series and perhaps others by this author.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookotoure for this eARC.

Read this book having seen some good reviews and yes not only was it good, it was a book difficult to put down. The story line was excellent, with clues along the way but a real twist in the tail at the end. Wasn’t so sure about the need for detective Gina to keep reminiscing about her own mother and her relationship with her, felt it distracted from the plot. However I shall look forward to reading other books on this series.

Another brilliant read in the Gina Harte series!.Yes, Carla Kovich has wowed with another fantastic story with book #5 of this series !

"Her Dark Heart" can also be read as a standalone. I have read all of the books in this series and have not been disappointed!

Gina's case, this time, involves a missing mother of 3, Susan, who has a somewhat dark past. Mary, Susan's mother, knows that (this time) there is something off. Susan's soon-to-be ex-husband, Ryan, of course is a suspect. This, since it seems as if both he and Susan may have been involved in affairs. Also, Susan's erratic behavior is noted. This is mostly observed by Susan's family including her older sister, Clare, Susan's mother, Ryan, and Susan's children.

Just when the reader thinks the case is at a loss for answers, Gina and her "crew" are able to come up with
some clues - and not all of them are pretty. Actually, we are invited to the innermost workings of the minds of Susan's friends and family...

This is a MUST read! I HIGHLY suggest that you read all of The Gina Harte series' books !!!

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a fast and "unputdownable" story !

Gina Harte is back on the case of a missing woman who has disappeared leaving her toddler at nursery and her two daughters at school. Susan has split from her husband but her past behaviour as a teenager who ran away before won’t hamper Gina from investigating properly. Soon a body turns up could it be too late for Susan?
Another cracker from Carla Kovach! This series gets better and better. In the last one Gina was very depressed but she has come through it and facing her demons to prove she is a tough woman! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Oh my!! This was such a great book that I just could not put it down!! Great psychological thriller. So suspenseful, dark and creepy good. So many surprising twists and turns. It just kept on like a roller coaster ride until the very end. And I loved the characters in this story. So easy to relate to and really care for. Highly recommend!! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The writing was very good in that it was taut and sharp, however, I was left confused as to what I had just read. According to the blurb, this story was about Susan Wheeler and her disappearance. The story had all of the ingredients for a classic thriller—an emotionally unstable woman, a jealous sister, a controlling, abusive husband, etc—but nothing meshed. A lot of foreshadowing was utilized of which some story arcs were very predictable (Harrison's paternity, other's culpability), while the big 'Whodunnit' reveal came out of left field. There was also a great deal of ink dedicated to both the investigative procedures along with DC Harte's personal problems—which had no bearing on solving the main mystery. A lot of loose ends were never tidied up with regards to Ryan, Clare, and Howard... As this is part of a series, I have been wondering how much of the plot was a carryover. I had assumed this book could be read as a standalone.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Carla Kovich for an ARC of 'Her Dark Heart (Detective Gina Harte Book 5)' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Susan Wheeler is a devoted Mother to her 3 children going thru a nasty divorce. One day she doesn’t show up to pick up her son from pre school and isn’t answering her phone. According to her family this isn’t like Susan, she would never abandon her children.

There are a lot of secrets being kept by the characters in this book. The further the investigation goes the more the police feel they aren’t getting the tru story from Susan’s friends and family. There were quite a few twists in this book that I didn’t see coming. I had trouble getting into the book which is my reason for the 3*. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
