This is such a gem of a romance, funny, heartfelt
steamy, great mental health rep, great plus size rep, can't speak for the chronic pain rep but I've read so many reviews on this that say it's phenomenal, honestly this is a total knockout of a book. Red and Chloe are just such precious main characters and I absolutely adored them from start to finish. This is definitely a stand out from the crowd romance one that I know I'll go back to time and time again.

5☆ Absolutely Bloomin Brilliant!!!

An Absolutely bloody brilliant Read!
If I could give 10☆ I would!
This book has everything and more, Hot & Steamy Passion, Romance, Heartache, Loss, Laughs, Poignant Moments and plenty of Smiles!

I adored Chloe & Red's Relationship. It most definitely wasn't an easy ride for them and each was guarded but as soon as Chloe got Red to help her with her list... then both their lives changed forever!
Red fell back in love with art and painting... oh and Chloe of course, and Chloe well she got her life back, and got to feel again.
Their hot, Steamy and passionate relationship, and their embraces certainly got me hot under the collar ☺
How he treated her melted my heart.
They are amazing together, both so wounded from the past and yet together they fit just like a jigsaw.

I absolutely applaud Talia for Shining a light on chronic illness and pain really giving a insight into all aspects and how it effects everyday life, friendships, relationships, mental health,.
Something which I most definitely relate too having rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic illness. I lost my friends too and my mental health suffered. Luckily I have an amazing family and partner.

Gosh this is by far my favourite read so this year! I can't praise it highly enough!
Chloe Brown is one kick ass brave woman and I'm sure will be a role model to many!
There are some explicit scenes just to be aware.
Although I'm excited to read the next installment from the Brown Sisters I really really hope this isn't the last we hear from Chloe and Red!

3.5 stars.

Chloe is a chronically ill woman who after a near death experience makes herself a list of things she wants to do in order to get a life. Red works In her building as the superintendent and she seeks out his help to help her complete said list.

This book I felt did great when it came to showing a character with a chronic illness and I love how Red was super understanding and caring towards her, I also enjoyed their banter back and forth. However I did feel towards the end the fight/break up scene was no necessary at all and it just seemed pointless to me.

Will I be reading more books by this author? Yes, I intend to continue on with the series and also read more of the authors other novels.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

Rating: 3.5 stars
Rep: Black, chronically ill mc

"Get A Life, Chloe Brown" follows two main characters, Chloe and Redford and their gradual development from slight enemies to friends to lovers. This is a dual POV romance contemporary with a ton of great diversity that I wanted to adore, and while I did like it, I didn't love it like I thought I would.

First up, things I liked:

-Chloe and Redford as individual characters were amazing, I loved both their personalities and distinctive voices.

-I loved the depiction of past abusive relationships. Redford's last relationship was abusive and he obviously struggles because of that. I liked that Hibbert shined a light on the fact that men can be in domestic violence situations too, I think sometimes people forget that and it's definitely not something I see a lot of in books or media. I also loved the disability rep, another thing we don't see a lot of in books, especially in the romance genre.

Things I wasn't a fan of:

-Whilst I loved Chloe and Redford as individual characters, I wasn't that invested in their romance, I just didn't really feel a connection between them.

-Not much really happened? This is a 360+ page book and I was pretty bored to be honest. Normally, if I'm invested in the romance, I don't really care what else is happening, but that wasn't the case here.

Overall, I highly recommend checking this book out. I've already ordered the next book, Dani Brown and I can't wait to read it as soon as it arrives!

Ok, I tried this book a few times. I’ve started it over and over again. And no. It is just not for me. I’ve read other Talia Hubert books and liked them but for some reason I didn’t connect with this at all.

A sweet tale but the writing just didn’t work for me. I found it slow and superficial. Although the main characters had lots going for them, with Chloe having fibromyalgia and Red not-your-typical-hero, it just was a bit bland..

This is a fluffy romance with a difference. Chloe Brown is a young woman with a chronic illness who is trying to re-establish her independence after her life has been derailed. She moves into her own apartment and meets hot building superintendent Red who is also trying to put his life back together after breaking up with his girlfriend in London. Chloe can't stand him at first but when she comes up with a plan to 'get a life', she decides that Red is the one to help her. A fast read and great for fans of Jasmine Guillory.

The writing for this was okay and I liked the premise for the most part but I just found the book a slog to get through overall. The way it dealt with Chloe's chronic illness was handled well and it was nice to see chronic illness represented in YA literature.

This was my second attempt at reading a Talia Hibbert book and I have to say the second time was most definitely the charm. This book! This book convinced me I was probably wrong and should go back and try and reread that first book I tried because it seems it was most likely me not the book with the issue.

All the stars to this book.

I was charmed from the beginning with this one. We met Chloe on a normal walk right before she almost gets hit by a drunk driver and see the very immediate aftermath for Chloe. She realises that she is boring and she needs to do something to get out of her rut of carefully structured routine and what better way than to write a list? I mean, when your immediate reaction of figuring out how to get a life is writing a list to be less boring… that just shows you what kind of person Chloe is. She is structured even in her quest to be more exciting and break from routine. And she has to be. She suffers from chronic pain and her fibromyalgia has meant she has had to form structure and routine in order to get through her day to day and that is brilliant, but it has also meant she has become rigid and has lost some of the spontaneity she used to have. Seeing her slowly break from her shell and realise that routine is good, but having fun is also good, especially when you have someone there to support you if you push yourself too far.

And Red! That man deserved a big hug because he had gone through a lot. He is actually the super at the flats Chloe moves into in her first step to getting a life and the two end up winding each other from the very beginning. Red can’t help but poke and prod at her because he can tell she has some kind of issue with him. And Chloe’s issue? That damn spark she felt from the first time they shook hands and his general cheerful manner to everyone. The man was nice to one and all, too nice! So her need to be extra sarcastic struck out and the two were sniping at each other with every meeting. That is until Chloe realises Red can be of some assistance conquering a few items on her list. She then forms a mutually beneficial plan that has the pair growing closer together and boy was that a treat to read.

Red and Chloe on the page together were just the best. Like I said, they poke and prod and have their sarcastic bickering and it is just so much fun to read. I was grinning practically the whole time reading this book because they were just so much fun. Even before they gave in to the chemistry brewing between them you could tell they were going to be the best together. Red was there driving Chloe out of her comfort zone and Chloe helped Red do better and pursue his career. They were meant to be. And that’s before I even start telling how hot the sex is between them. Look, all I’m gonna say is if a couple is about ready to bang in the street they must be good together (and the author must be talented at having me believe they would be up for that because I’m sorry, UK streets be shady and you know some idiot would interrupt being all ‘wahey what you pair up to’ because English me, and especially drunk English men are idiots). But the thing is yes they have chemistry but they still made each other laugh even when they were in bed together. That is relationship goals right there.

It may have taken me a while to finish this book but it was so worth it. My only regret is waited so long to read something by Talia Hibbert and thought I might not give her a second chance. Here's hoping the rest of her books are as good.

Gifted to me from the publisher but this does not affect my feelings.

This is enemies to lovers, which is one of my favourite tropes, and it is SO cute. Absolutely adore it; it's hilarious. It's one of those relationships where they clearly fancy each other but because they don't understand each other, they're constantly sniping and Red's best friend knows. Like Vikram fucking KNOWS.
The voice in the prologue felt cliched and didn't make much sense at points but after that I FUCKING LOVED IT.
I loved that it's not about existing with a disability but LIVING with a disability and that there is a big difference between those two terms. I loved the friendships, the relationships, the dynamic between Red and Chloe. As the story progressed it was really well thought out and developed, it wasn't rushed. The only slight issue I had was toward the end, there was a plot point that I thought wasn't necessary because the book had come on a long way and their relationship had passed the point where something like that would be thrown up.
And they communicate - romantic partners that ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE are few and far between so when they do come along I am all for it.

This book is adorably sweet and deserves all the stars! I was worried all the hype would mean I'd be disappointed but I should have known, Talia Hibbert can do no wrong in my eyes.

Beyond the warm cinnamon roll leads and the excellent portrayal of living and enjoying a full sex life with a chronic illness I want to also applaud the fact it's set in a city that is not London for once! Contrary to popular belief in Romancelandia, England is not solely comprised of London and endless quaint countryside. I also loved that Red was 100% working class and at no point is that treated as a negative or something to hide.

I love Talia Hibbert because in the UK romance scene she is one of the very few authors writing romance with sex in it. Which sounds weird but our romance is overwhelmingly of the 'women's fiction' or the dreary 'Saga' variety rather than the 'steamy boning with a HEA' that I prefer and I'm very happy we have Talia providing this service. Now I just want UK bookshops to realise there is a huge market for romance here and that they need to actually stock it!

I had high expectations for this book as I had been hearing good things about it and I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed the Chloe as a character she is such a strong and smart woman and Red was absolutely swoon worthy, he was such a thoughtful and loving character OH MY GOSH! Both characters have a significant amount of baggage that they are bringing to their relationship and enjoyed how they navigated this as they were so supportive and understanding of each other’s needs. The banter between Red and Chloe was great. The two had great chemistry leading to a couple very steamy scenes.

There is great representation in this book with Chloe being a curvy, person of colour and living with fibromyalgia. As I don’t have any experience of living with chronic pain my thoughts on how this was handled is limited but I felt this book handled the topic well. It was important to see what Chloe was living with and how Chloe was managing the illness. This book highlighted how fibromyalgia affected all aspects of her life and how it affected her past relationships.

It’s a book that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy whilst covering some very important topics such as recovering from abuse and living with chronic illness.

Pros:

Strong female main character

I love a hate to love romance trope

Supportive relationship full of chemistry

Great representation which was handle really well

Cons:

Some of the dialogue I found to be a bit sickly sweet but not enough to stop me from loving this book!

I received a free ebook version of this book from Netgalley. Thankyou to both Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this! My review is stil honest.

This book is a hate to love romance between Chloe, who has a chronic pain disorder and Red, who is her building's superintendent. Chloe has a list of things to change her life, a list that she can't accomplish alone-but Red can help her.
I really, really liked this! It really reminded me of Helen Hoang's novels, as well as a little bit of Eleanor Oliphant. It had a really fun, lighthearted vibe, while still dealing with very serious topics in a mature and logical way. I was impressed with how the author handled issues like abusive relationships and grief. The romance itself though was so bubbly and sweet and cute and it was just one of those books that makes you fall in love! I cared so deeply about both of our main characters and I adored them together.
I really liked the representation of a chronic pain disorder. Fibromyalgia is a disease that is so little understood, and yet it’s also far more common that perhaps people realise. I really appreciate that the author put something like this into focus, and I hope it will enlighten it’s readers. It also has a black main character-something which even today is still not happening enough as it should be!
This one did take me longer than it normally would to grip me for a romance novel. Normally, I start and don't stop til I'm done, but with this one, I actually put it down a couple of times. This might have been the writing style, could have just been my mood, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning.

In a nutshell-one of the better romances I've read this year. I would recommend it.

I heard about this through social media and book tube, and I was anticipating it mainly because of the plus size lead - we don't get a lot of that in romance stories. It was easy to adore Chloe and Red, their chemistry was undeniable. I love Chloe's relationship with her sisters; even if they don't feature a lot, it was a highlight for me. I like how Chloe pushes herself out there, and makes a sound decision to do so even if it was uncomfortable for her. TBH, I sometimes think of what people might say in my eulogy, and turns out not much - at least she's doing something about it. The writing could be a bit cheesy at times, and the conflict was a bit melodramatic (though what romance novel's conflict isn't? [I sometimes wish conflicts could be reasonable and not just a miscommunication on either part]. This was a fast-paced read with adorable leads.

A poignant and heartwarming story with an unusual main character.
I loved Chloe, I appreciated her strength and how she's written making this character realistic and relatable.
The plot is engrossing and entertaining, the cast of characters well written and I rooted for them.
It was an excellent read, strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I laughed, I cried, I felt like the third wheel to some sizzling scenes and I loved Chloe Brown and Red!

This book is to be celebrated for its fun, down to earth approach and hot sex but also the representation! There's a plus-sized, body confident, beautiful, black main character with a chronic illness who is a clever tech geek and unapologetically cranky; a hot, tattooed, redhead artist recovering from an abusive relationship; and a cat called Smudge. These are the heroes that we need!

The motivation for each character evolved in a captivating way, there's real chemistry and a spark that flies off the pages and I became quite preoccupied and invested in where the relationship between Chloe and Red was going to go.

They each have their baggage and trust issues from traumatic past experiences and so their reluctance to peel back the layers and be vulnerable is palpable, yet their nature means you can't help but see they are perfect for each other.

The split dialogue between the two characters helps you to navigate the differences between their outward "act" and what they truly feel, and to also witness the emotional tugs that draws them together but also pulls them apart.

I wanted to read a bit more about the family but I believe this is part of a saga on each of the Brown sisters so I'm thrilled about this as they each were very different but all close, as well as their charismatic grandma Gigi who I adored.

When I found out that this book has a character, Chloe who has Fibromyalgia just like me I immediately checked Netgalley and requested this book.

I am so glad I did as I have been really low this week and "Get A Life, Chloe Brown" was just the tonic I needed. It made me smile and laugh and got me out of my house for the first time in a month.

I sympathised with Chloe because just like her, I wasn't believed about my illness initially, and lost most of my friends and family due to them thinking I was making it up.

I highly recommend this to everyone especially if you have a chronic illness or know someone who does because this book will help you understand what those of us who have an invisible disability go through.

I massive thanks to Netgalley, Talia Hibbert and Little, Brown Book Group UK for making this eARC available for an honest review.

Romance isn't my usual genre, but I'd seen some reviews of Get A Life, Chloe Brown that intrigued me, so when I saw it available on NetGalley I decided to give it a try. And I'm so glad I did! This was such a sweet, life-affirming, funny book, but most of all it is fantastically diverse. I especially appreciated reading a romance with a chronically ill main characters: those of us with chronic conditions can too often be seen as 'just a sick person', rather as people with fully rounded lives, including romantic and sexual partnerships. Most of all, it was very well written, with each characters and plot point given space to develop and none of the eye-rollingly cringey dialogue that often seems to come with this genre.
