These are fun books. Jaymie is having a bunch of college friends come and stay with her for a vacation. Her husband and daughter are in Poland visiting his first wife's family. While Jaymie and her friends are together, everything is awkward and not the way Jaymie remembered their friendship from college. Then a local man is murder by Jaymie's vintage cast iron pie iron. Jaymie tries to puzzle out why her pie iron and as she asks questions, she realizes that some of her guests are acting odd and may have known the man.

It's interesting to read about Jaymie's hobby and the mystery was good and actually the killer was a bit of a surprise. The story is easy-to-read and moves along nicely. I didn't love the characters. I don't feel a connection to Jaymie or her family and many of her college friends were not nice. That's why I gave it 3 stars. I have to like the characters and many of these women were whiners, selfish, and mean. However, it mystery kept me turning pages and there are lots of possibilities as far as suspects and motives.

I liked this book, the mystery was very challenging with unique characters and a diabolical plot. Although it was slow in the beginning, and it continued to be very drawn out. I received an advanced reader's copy from Netgalley for an honest review.

Jaymie plays host to several college girlfriends for a vacation-reunion. As expected, murder tags along. Jaymie enlists current girlfriends to help investigate and finds her college mates a little different, in some ways, than she remembers.

The 9th entry in the Vintage Kitchen Mysteries is an excellent example of Victoria Hamilton’s skill as she inserts the reader right in the middle of the story. Ms. Hamilton paints a very believable experience of getting together with old friends under the stress of an unexpected murder. Again, plenty of twists and a steady pace. An entertaining break for cozy readers.

Last year I had a girls only College roommate reunion, and it was much more joyful than Jaymie's. The expert writing of Victoria Hamilton led me down a path of suspects yet I was completely surprised by the outcome. These characters and their heartaches seem real and the emotions engendered have stayed with me. 'Cast Iron Alibi' is another hit in the A Vintage Kitchen Mystery series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This has easily become one of my top favorite series with my favorite character.
Jaymie has joined my list of top five favorite characters.
She's grown so much in this series and I'm anxious to see what happens with her next!
In Cast Iron Alibi, Jaymie is preparing for a vacation with her old friends. Usually they go camping, but do to unforseen events, the group of friends end up staying at the family cottage, giving Jaymie the opportunity to show off the vintage camper she restored.
After saying a teary goodbye to husband and daughter, Jaymie watches them take off for a trip to Poland, giving Jocie the chance to visit with family.
Jaymie is excited to see her old friends, but has no idea that this reunion is going to end in tragedy.
I found myself escaping deep into the story, rolling my eyes and gasping in astonishment. These ladies are each going through their own personal crisis, but when one friend crosses the line, all bets are off and it's each woman for herself.
This story showed Jaymie in a much stronger, independent role, and I was so impressed with her.
I loved how she would not back down from comments about being Jocie's mom, this little family has become such a fun part of this series.
I highly recommend this book and the series, you will not be disappointed.

Hamilton has done it again. She knocked it out of the cozy mystery genre with Cast Iron Alibi. First, the cover is divine. It makes even me, who detests camping, want to spend a night in the trailer. Jaymie has planned a shecation with her friends from college while her family is in Europe. Except it's not what she had Invisioned. Her friends have changed and some not for the better. As acrimony builds and problems abound, a fire kills a local Lothario. As Jaymie digs for answers she uncovers some horrible truths that she really didn't want to know. Hamilton weaves a web of characters that takes skill to discern along with the main plot and subsidiary plots. I'm impatiently waiting for the next book to be released.

Jaymie and her college friends are getting together for a camping trip, just like old times. While she is sad to send her husband and daughter off to visit family in Poland, she is excited to spend some time with her college buddies, until she remembers just how challenging a few of those women can be.

When party girl Brandi is focused on hooking up with hot guys, Jaymie connects some dots and believes Brandi is hooking up with a local contractor. When the contractor is murdered, Jaymie begins to suspect her friend, or her jealous husband may be guilty. Where do you draw the line between being loyal to your friends and doing the right thing? Jaymie needs to figure that out before the wrong man is put away for murder.

I adore this series and the latest entry is just as solid as the others in the series. Now I’m longing for some girl time with my old college buddies. Maybe we’ll have to set up a clamping trip next Summer and hope our time together is far more relaxing.

I always look forward to meeting up with Jaymie in this series, with it's interesting bits of vintage. Throw in old memories, friends, unexpected guess, and a husband with stalkerish tendencies, she certainly has her hands full in this book. Another great addition to the series.
