Oh my goodness!!!!! What a BOOK!!! Gardner never disappoints!! Oh wow, ok so this is the short version and then I will get down to why I loved this book so much, aside from it being a suspense/thriller type of book: So a couple hiking in Georgia find some bones in a shallow grave, they call the police, and then case opens up a whole new can of worms to the point that that need the FBI, and all the trimmings, which includes two civilians. Keith is a true crime lover, a computer nerd and a dead ringer for Ted Bundy, and Flora was abducted by a serial kidnapper and rapist, and maybe she can help identify if all these shallow graves have anything to do with Jacob Ness, her abductor.

Well THEN, I was SHOCKETH!!! This town had so many secrets, I was floored I couldn’t even believe it, and not only are all of the crimes connected, but an underground trafficking ring? Organs? Mute teen girl? The Mayor of the town? The black underground internet market? SOO MUCH GOOD ISSSHHHH, I was loving it!

The characters are what got me, I love strong women in any book that I read, makes me feel empowered, what Flora went through, the young girl Bonita, DD Warren and even Kimberly? I was just inspired, Gardner does this so well with her books. I am telling y’all, if you are a fan, go for it read this book.

Thanks Netgalley, the publishers and Lisa Gardner for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I have always seen books by Lisa Gardner, I even have a couple but I haven't read any. OMG!! Why did it take me this long?!?!I was hooked on it from the very beginning. Even though this book is part of a series, it reads very well as standalone. The book has a lot of characters but she does a great job and it's not confusing at all. I truly enjoyed her writing style. I know for a fact that I'll be reading the rest DD Warren series. If you like thrillers, this is the author for you!!

I want to thank NetGalley, Lisa Gardner and Penguin Group for this copy!

WHEN YOU SEE ME is emotional, explosive, dark, sinister, edgy, and RELENTLESS!

The Top Thriller of 2020 and this is January. I LOVED 🤩 THIS BOOK and this series-THE BEST! No one writes complex psychological crime thrillers with "heart" better than Lisa Gardner.

A huge fan, she returns with three of my favorite characters: —Detective D D Warren, Flora Dane, and Kimberly Quincy —with more twists and secrets than you can imagine.

A mysterious murder from the past leads them to the North Georgia mountains in Dahlonega, GA. (we are talking my neck of the woods here).

If you have read the previous Flora Dane series and DD Warren, you will be familiar with the creepy and slimy deceased serial kidnapper Jacob Ness that held Flora Dane captive and ruined her life. (Gardner provides a backstory in the event you have not read).

Currently, they have uncovered a piece of evidence that may have to do with Jacob Ness and more bodies in the North Georgia Mountains along a hiking trail. Jacob, a predator and truck driver, that used women. So what had he been doing in North Georgia and how did they get all the bodies on this remote hiking trail? What is the connection?

Of course, Flora Dane (vigilante) wants to be in on this since she knows him the best) - his personal sex slave and for four hundred and seventy-two days she was a coffin-sized box with this vicious predator. But emotionally can she handle it? DD Warren is worried about her due to her past trauma and it will bring up the devastating past with the monster, Jacob.

The famous Keith Edgar (the true-crime enthusiast and computer analyst) is brought in (love Flora and Keith together) and the unstoppable team. Bones are found and it appears that the small town of Dahlonega has something to hide. What are they covering up?

At the local Bed and Breakfast, the owners seem shady, and there is a mute girl working there and DD suspects she knows something and is afraid for her life. What is going on at this B&B and this entire town? How many people are involved in this coverup and why?

We hear in alternating chapters: FloraDane, FBI SSA Kimberly Quincy, and Sergeant DD Warren. There is also another voice of a five-year-old speaking to her mother. There is a bad man. A dear mother was murdered.

"I am my mother's chiquita. She is my mamita. Our special names for each other."

The first bones they find is the remains of Lilah Abenito, missing fifteen years and recovered in the mountains of Georgia. How did she get here? She was a seventeen-year-old Hispanic female first reported missing from Alabama fifteen years ago.

With heart-pounding suspense, Gardner takes us through the woods, trails, and underground tunnels. This team can trust NO one in this town. Who is the "bad man" and what does this young girl working at the local B&B know? DD takes her under her wing and forms a way to communicate with her.

From human-trafficking, a secret club, and murder - a race against time. They are all in danger and will stop at nothing to bring down this evil serial killer and corruption.

In the end, we hear from Bonita. You will be in tears and the ending is priceless, which leads us, readers, to hope for a sequel. (fingers crossed).

Emotionally powerful, Lisa Gardner at her finest! A kick-ass team and a voiceless girl desperate for revenge which you will root for. DD and the young girl were stars of this show. I am loving Flora and Keith together and hope we see more of them.

Now, this is a book you read for HALLOWEEN! 🎃👻

On a side note, my ex-boyfriend lived in Dalongeha, GA, and have spent a lot of time there at B&Bs and quaint restaurants and hiked nearly every weekend. I also lived in a log cabin in Big Canoe in the North Georgia mountains not far from this after. After reading WHEN YOU SEE ME, not sure I would ever go out hiking alone as I have done for many years again! Hands down, the best thriller of 2020! 🙌

I liked most of this book, four strong female characters and very relatable. It got a bit too gory for me towards the end and lost some of what I liked about the book.

Thank you so much to Penguin Group Dutton/Random House and Netgalley for the invitation to read and review When you See Me by Lisa Gardner.

It sounded great from the blurb but I was a little worried as its the 11th book in the series and I've not read any of Lisa's books at all, let alone the rest of the series. I need not have worried! This book was fantastic! Now my only worry now is when I'm going to fit in all the rest of her books as I now need to see if they are all as good and will definitely be adding the rest of the series and her other backlog to my reading lists.

There was no need to worry as the history of the characters was all needed and I didn't feel as though I'd missed anything out by starting at the 11th book.. It works very well as a standalone book.

I believe it brought together different characters from other series Lisa has written, so a great way to get you hooked on them al and it definitely worked with me. Fantastic characters and really good storyline.

When a couple of bodies are discovered in the hillside in Georgia, FBI Special Agent Kimberley Quincy partners up with DD Warren, along with Flora Dane and Keith, her computer analyst boyfriend. They suspect suspect the bodies may be previous victims of Jacob Ness of whom Flora the only survivor, goes to help the team.

As more bodies are uncovered it becomes clear that they may be more than one person at work. More and more things are happening in the town and its clear they don't want the Police and FBI there investigating. But who can be trusted? and what will happen next? will the killer/killers be caught?

I thoroughly enjoyed this twisting turning suspense thriller and it keeps you guessing throughout. Extremely entertaining and a little creepy.

When You See Me is a fast paced thriller that will leave you feeling terrified and paranoid all at once. Gardner broached subjects that feel all to real in our world today. I was immediately drawn into the book and didn’t want to stop reading. The twist was good and the ending was fierce. All in all, this was a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dutton for this ARC.

A serial kidnapper is now dead, yet his crimes are far from behind him. In the 11th book of the Detective D.D. Warren series, D.D., a detective and FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy join forces with Flora Dane to connect a brutal murder from the past to what is going on right now. Before I go on I will say that because I did not read either series by Gardner first, with the exception of Never Tell, I was definitely at a disadvantage.

In Never Tell D.D. and Flora worked together on a difficult case and this introduced me to both characters. In this book, When You See Me, we meet Quincy. So with this book I feel like I did miss a few cues. However, as the story is told with several points of view, I was able to be pulled into it. Once that happened, things began to click into place.

Flora once was a victim of Jacob Ness. He raped and brutalized her for over a year. Through a terrifying series of events, Flora manages to kill Ness. Since then she has tried to help victims of similar crimes to cope and to move on with their lives. Paired with D.D. under the guise of a new task force, it is full speed ahead. However, skeletal bones are found, and the link to Ness. FBI agent Kimberley Quincy is bought into the task force.

More events unfold, and then secrets slowly begin to be revealed. Although it has been several months since I read this book (yes, I am quite behind schedule for writing reviews) the scene when even more skeletal remains are discovered jumps right in front of me. I felt the terror, the shock and the drama. In my estimation, this went beyond simple mystery and suspense to be a multi-layered thriller. Reading this book has convinced me to add this and the connecting series to my series spreadsheet. It is time I really get to know D.D and Quincy.

Many thanks to Dutton Books and o NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Some of Lisa Gardner's best characters are back in this book - DD Warren, Kimberly Quincy and Flora Dane. If you are a fan of these characters already, this is a must read book for you. You will get another piece of the puzzle answered here and you won't be disappointed. If this is your first chance to meet these empowered women characters you are in for an amazing mystery and a story that moves fast as lightening. When You See Me is a book you need to add to your reading list.

I've always loved Lisa Gardner's books, but realized it's been a while since I read one. So when Dutton reached out with an offer for the ebook, to celebrate it coming out in paperback, I jumped on it!

This book is #11 in the Detective D.D. Warren series, and while it's been so long since I've read D.D. Warren, I forgot some of the characters, this book stands alone just fine. If you're looking for a fast-paced police procedural with plenty of leading Bad*ss ladies, both in police and FBI uniforms, as well as former victims in pursuit of their past, look no further - this one has it all!

Edge of my seat! Loved this book it definitely makes me want to read the rest of the series - which I didn’t even realize it was part of. You could read this without knowing anything about the others.

Lisa Gardner is one of those go to authors for me especially if we're diving back into DD Warren's life. DD is a strong female lead but this book isn't hurting for strong females... Flora Dane and Kimberly Quincy are also prominent in this story. If you haven't dove into the Warren series than you're seriously missing out on a fabulous thriller, not to mention the fact that Gardner empowers women in her novels.

Is there really ever a Lisa Gardner book I don't like? Nope. This book leads the team to a small town with lots of secrets. It seems like the locals are covering up their secrets. The Mayor has a large stately manor that is a bed and breakfast, but when they talk to him they find a "niece" that can't speak. However having lived there a long time she knows the secrets and the monsters that house hides.

The clues also lead to the possible place where the serial rapist and killer Jacob Ness may have been keeping Flora Dane, previous victim turned vigilante badass. This takes you all over the mountainside of this small town where there are a lots of places to hide bodies. The real problem is finding out who hide them, and why. So many twists, and turns and lots of heartbreaking moments. I really hope we see more of Bonita, the mute girl that D.D. Warren ends up saving.

Detective D. D. Warren, Flora Dane, and Kimberly Quincy are back in one of the most chilling cases to date. It's full of all the twists and turns you've come to expect from Gardner and then a few more. It's the perfect modern thriller with Southern Gothic elements thrown in. The characters are fully developed and engaging and the suspense is well-paced. Definitely one of the best in the series!

I was recently introduced to Lisa Gardner's D.D. Warren series, and I am loving it! I haven't read a bad book yet, and these kinds of police procedurals are definitely a favorite of mine.

Nothing can grab me and pull me in quite like a D.D. Warren case. This one was by far my favorite so far in the series. In this book we learn more background on Jacob Ness and how he lived his life. This one will have you sitting on the edge of your chair and flipping pages as fast as you can!
