I read this book in a day, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next!!!! I didn't know what to expect and then it was like a jigsaw, everything fell into place nicely with lots of omg moments along the way. This story will definitely keep you on your toes. Highly recommend.

Having read All of the authors previous books I was looking forward to this one. It didn't disappoint, yet again a fantastic read with great characters and original storyline, didn't even expect the ending.. Just brilliant.

I read this book really quickly, and was excited to read it as I’ve read a few books by K.L. Slater and always enjoyed them.

The story itself is really intriguing - who can Darcy trust, who is telling her the truth, and is she safe? I found myself feeling increasingly anxious for her two young boys and unsure who to trust. The characters are well-written and easy to visualise. My main issue with the story was how much the narrative jumped around. Darcy’s chapters were told in first person, but the rest were in third person, and the tone of voice didn’t really change from character to character which made it hard to follow at times.

Aside from trying to get my head around George’s story about Opal, there is a story involving the father of Darcy’s boys, who passed away, and particularly towards the end, I found myself skipping back and forth, trying to get my head around what was actually happening.

I’m probably in the minority by not loving this book - it’s a readable thriller but was just a little too convoluted for my liking.

“Single “ is a page turner with many twist and turns . Just when I thought I had the villains & victims figured out the author turns it the opposite way. The adults in this book are all insane at some point. Very very good thriller !

Single was one of those reads I really didn’t want to put down. I was instantly invested – the characters were very real, I loved the story and I was intrigued by what was going on. And it’s such a thrill when an author completely misdirects me, so that I’m totally gob smacked when I finally realise my assumptions were totally wrong.
Darcy Hilton and her two boys meet the wonderful, successful Dr George Mortimer and his daughter, and it’s a match made in heaven. Very quickly they’re all living in George’s gorgeous home as one big happy family. But both have secrets which they haven’t shared. The story flits between the present day and 1995, when a young boy is mercilessly bullied at school. And the current story is told from different points of view – those of Darcy, George and others, including a mystery narrator.
Beautifully written, this story touches on deception, bullying and stalking. Subtle hints give away the fact that all is not quite as it seems, making it an uncomfortable read. By not even halfway through I was wondering just exactly what was going on. The author kept upping the suspense and the stakes were really high – making Single a compelling read.

Hugely tense psychological thriller that keeps you guessing with a believable ending. So often in books of this genre it's so difficult to end the book in a credible way when all the drama and tension comes from not knowing whats true and what isn't.

I'd read books by this author again.

I struggled with this book - I felt like I couldn't get into it. I found all the adult characters to be unlikable & the some of the twists were predictable. However, the last 20% of the book was gripping & I didn't want to put it down.

Thank you to Bookouture & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of the more inane books I have read in a long time. There are no less than seven extremely unlikable characters in the book two of which are the main characters. That being said I read it to the end just because I kept thinking it had to get better.....it didn’t!
For some reason this book has gotten a lot of positive reviews but each to their own. I have read previous books from this author and have liked them all so maybe this was a one off.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for letting me read this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Another fantastic book by KL Slater. You know what to expect from a Bookouture author; a great hook within first couple of chapters, fabulous storyline, characters you root for and those great twists throughout! With each KL Slater book I wonder how she can top the previous one. I read, I finish and bam! I have a new favourite!

This was brilliant!
Now to wait for the next!

What a fabulous good old fashioned thriller. A definite page turner that I had to finish. Red herrings everywhere and the person I thought had done it turned out to be a victim too. Fabulous!

I am a huge K.L.Slater fan and always look forward to her new books, sadly this time it wasn't worth the wait. It was so slow paced I found myself skimming through the pages, then everything seemed to happen way too late in the book for me to care .There was so much explaining of the plot by the characters themselves at the end of the book, that I felt even they didn't really know what was going on either. I would never have guessed this was by one of my favourite authors if her name hadn't been on the cover!

This was not my favorite KL Slater book but was a pretty decent story overall. It centers around Darcy, a widowed mother of 2 young sons, and her relationships with her husband's family, her husband's mistress, and the new man in her life. There were some twists throughout the book and the end kind of escalated quickly and took on a different pace than the rest of the book.

I think the reason I didn't love this book is because I didn't connect with Darcy. She made decisions that I didn't think a reasonable person would make (letting her inlaws run her life, moving herself and kids in with a man she pretty much just met, etc.) and I found myself irritated with her more than empathetic throughout the book. I also felt she jumped to conclusions and over-reacted to the things that were happening around her, though some of those perceived over-reactions turned out to be the right instinct.

All in all, this is a fast read with some suspense and surprises so it's worth a read, especially for those who liked Slater's other novels. Netgalley provided me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor! I’m new to this author and boy am I glad I was granted this ebook! I love a book with twists and turns but after awhile, most become so predictable. This is one book that had so many unique turns my head was spinning! Where do I begin? Darcy is raising her two boys after the death of their father three years prior. Her late husbands sister and parents help her care for them and she is grateful for that but she wants to start having a bit more independence with her children and dating life. One day at the park, there is small accident with one of her children and her son is saved by a handsome doctor with a young daughter who she quickly falls for. What follows is mental games between multiple characters that you will not be sure who is lying and who is “helping”! Darcy is paranoid about the woman her late husband was having an affair with, Daniela, and her new doctor boyfriend George, has a stalker ex girlfriend named Opal who just won’t get the hint. But who’s fooling who? Who can Darcy trust? I literally did not see the last few twists coming. And I doubt you will either! Give yourself a day to devote to this book. I couldn’t put it down!

This may be one of the shortest books I've read in a while, but by golly, it's got more twists and surprises in it than one three times its length. That brought another plus: That meant I didn't want to put it down - and I didn't have to!

I'll give the author props for something else; all too often, with female characters in situations like this (more on that later), at least one of them is such a hand-wringing, self-doubting, paranoid person that all I really want to do is smack her upside the head. Not so here - even when Darcy, a single mother who's struggling from the devastating loss of her husband, disapproval from her late husband's family and trust issues with the new man in her life. Oh sure, she has her emotional ups and downs, but at no time did I yell into my Kindle, "Get a grip, woman - put on your big-girl pants and move on!"

Following some kind of mental breakdown after her husband died, his parents took custody of her two young sons. Now, she's trying to prove she's capable of taking them back to live with her. Early on, one of her sons suffers a severe asthma attack and his rescue inhaler is nowhere to be found. Enter George, a local doctor, who runs in to save the day. His good looks and single-parent status aren't wasted on Darcy (nor are hers on him), and - you guessed it - they start what Darcy hopes will be a beautiful relationship.

Shortly after she and her boys move into George's fancy mansion, though, she gets a bunch of flowers with a dire message. George claims they're from an ex-girlfriend who's now stalking him, but he's not forthcoming with details. Darcy is concerned that she's not getting the whole story, but she's reluctant to ask because, as it happens, she's got a few secrets she's not ready to share with George.

Plenty of other intriguing characters keep the pot stirred, including a long-time housekeeper who isn't happy that Darcy may be usurping her job and a woman who, shall we say, came between Darcy and her late husband. It all comes to an exciting end as new details are revealed, making for a book well worth the time to read. Many thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read an advance copy.

Single is a book you can sit down with and tune out the world.

A good read with twists and turns that keeps you turning the pages.

Everyone has a secret , some more than others.

Who can you believe, who can you trust?

Everyone looks at everyone else suspiciously.

Not as straightforward as you might think!

Great read !

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read Single . Don't miss it.

Another great book by this author. Lots of twists and turns throughout the book. I usually can guess how its going to end, but this one really had some great twists at the end that I never imagined. Looking forward to reading more by KL Slater!

I really liked this book! The twists at the end were some I absolutely did not see coming. I thought I had it all figured out and it was going to be one of those that I was disappointed in, but wow…This is one of those books I almost want to reread now that I know how it ends, just to see if I could pick up on any hints throughout the story. I only gave it 4 stars because the beginning seemed a little slow to me, but to be fair it did take time to introduce the characters and show how they all fit together. If you like psychological thrillers, I would definitely recommend reading this book!

Another cracking read by KL Slater and what a twisted mess of lies we unravel in this one! Talk about mind-blowing! Well-written as always with a cast of characters that will have you suspecting each and every one of them of wrong-doings and sneaky behaviour. The story winds up gradually until we find ourselves launched into a breath-taking ending.

I always get excited when another book from K.L slater comes out and wow what a brilliant book this is. Twists talk about twists, this book had so many it is madness. But, in a good way.
Darcy is still struggling over the death of her husband Joel; she has two boys. But, is slowly coming to terms with it. At first, she had some mental health issues, but she has luckily had help with the support from Joel’s parents Brenda and Leonard and sister Steph.
When Darcy goes to the local park with her sons and Kane and Harrison, Kane has a fall from the rope bridge that brings on his Asthma. She searches for his inhaler but its not there. She panics and feels helpless but suddenly George a dashing doctor from the local hospital comes to help. He helps Kane. A few days later she goes to the hospital that he works in with a Thank you card and that’s when their relationship begins.
Darcy can’t believe her luck; she is going out with a dashing doctor. Not telling Joel’s family at first because they wouldn’t approve. But their relationship is not all rosy when George tells her about Opal Vardy that used to work at the hospital who he had a brief fling with, is now his stalker and she is also feeling guilty of the secrets she herself holds.
This is another gripping suspenseful thriller from K.L slater. This had great characters and like I said previously lots of twists you didn’t know who to was telling the truth and who was lying. It was great for keeping you enthralled in the book and I didn’t want this to end. I think this book had the most twists in it I have ever read. Amazing 5 stars from me.
