The title fits!!!!!
It was perfectly dark and creepy...a bit wild... with great characterizations and storytelling.

“The Other People”, claim to offer justice to those who have lost loved ones. They have many talents. Many many talents!!!!

“People say hate and bitterness will destroy you. They’re wrong. It’s hope. Hope will devour you from the inside like a parasite”.

“Love and forgiveness might keep you warm, but hatred would power your rocket all the way to the moon”.
Until....it burns itself out!

The unfolding of events...harrowing and endlessly hopeful—is subtly brilliant with a transportive spell of a pitch-perfect-narrative voice.

“The Other People”, exposed an ethical dilemma...and an opportunity for empathy, that left a lasting impression on me....with a freaking cool ending.

The storyline was excellent as were the characters. While there are many characters they are easy to remember. You know how sometimes you need a map to remember who is who? Not in this case. They all start fitting and coming together like a puzzle.

For the first half of the book, I was ending every chapter with a sharp intake of breath and an "oh." This is a great crime/mystery/thriller dusted with a hint of supernatural.

Set aside some time to read this uninterrupted or the book won't be the only place with a few dead bodies. You will not want to stop reading.

This was my first CJ Tudor book, I really enjoyed it!! I have The Chalk Man on my bookshelf, but after reading this one, I’m definitely moving it up my TBR list. The Other People is a gripping thriller full of suspense and questions. I found myself quickly turning the pages because I had to know what really happened to Gabe's family and who were The Other People?

The story was fascinating and the ending wrapped it up fairly well. Overall, I really liked this book and would recommend it for anyone who likes suspenseful quick reads.

This book was absolutely amazing. It was everything I hoped for coming from this author, as I have read every book does author has written. I will continue to read every book this author right. I do not give away too much in my previous as I do not want spoilers but I highly recommend this book.

CJ Tudor has fast become one of my favorite authors. This is her third book after The Chalk Man and The Hiding Place and it may be her best. A man is desperately searching for his family who disappeared years ago. He gets involved with a support group who may not be what they seem. This storyline is actually chilling. At one point the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Like her other two books, this one is very well plotted with gripping dialog and a twist you will never see coming. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

I never read any books by this author and was a little skeptical, but my attention was captured from the very first chapter. A great complex and compelling thriller that you won’t want to put this book down.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to preview The Other People by CJ Tudor. I loved the Chalkman - and I think I like this book even better. Tudor hits this one out of the park - draws you in to a drama with story lines that weave together like a quilt.
A mother, Jenny, and her daughter, Izzy, are murdered - and Gabe, father and husband, was not at home to save them. But Gabe doesn't believe Izzy is dead, and he has a solid reason for believing that because he saw Izzy in a car at the time she was being murdered. No one believes Gabe - not his in laws, friends, and the police. But Gabe knows Izzy is out there, and he is on a quest to find her. Gabe's lonely journey aquaints him with a few people who feel sorry for him, but somehow are related to this murder.
Gabe soon discovers that there is much more to his family's murder and those involved will do anything to keep him quiet. There are Other People who have a vested interest in keep Gabe in the dark and they will stop at nothing to keep it that way.
5 stars - one of the best books of the year!

You question yourself, you wonder why, you give chase only to lose the car in which you think she is in .....and then you receive a phone call that will alter your life.

For Gabe this is his reality and when it is found that his wife and child have been brutally murdered, what he thought he saw can not be. Gabe becomes a suspect and yet time can not erase what he thinks he saw and his heart and mind will not let him forget. To Gabe, his daughter is out there but all signs point to the fact that she is gone forever. Even her grandfather, a retired doctor, called to identify his daughter and granddaughter find that both are gone. And yet Gabe knows or at least think he knows and three years later he is still on the hunt for a daughter he just won't forget.

As Gabe travels the roads and byways in his eternal search, he meets Katie, a waitress in a service station. She too, has lost a loved one as her father was murdered. Gabe, who she refers to as the thin man, strike up a tenuous relationship and as the story continues Katie's life as well as her sister, Fran, and her mysterious daughter, becomes woven into a tale so clever and insidious that it's difficult to put this book aside as you become witness to a tale of cunning, deceit, and of course huge surprises along the way.

C. J. Tudor has once again captured my imagination and created a brilliant story filled with intricate details that are woven together flawlessly. It is a tale that will have you addicted from page one. If you are a lover of a story that thrills you on every twist and turn of the plot, then this is one not to miss.

The Other People is a dark and atmospheric psychological thriller about a missing girl and her father who won't give up hope of finding her.

The plot, although not complex, is too complicated to explain. There are multiple threads, voices, and timelines, but all are seamlessly woven together. Part ominous fairy tale with some paranormal elements, part mystery, part thriller, I didn’t know where this book was going to take me. It has some similarities to The Chain, but I enjoyed this book so much more! A strong narrative voice, compelling characters, and a plot that had me anxious to unravel kept me riveted.

The voice of the narrator was what made this book a standout for me. The way the plot was framed also made this a standout. I appreciated The Other People because it isn’t your standard thriller--it is so much more! I highly recommend!

The premise of <i>“The Other People”</i> could resemble <i>“The Chain”</i>...if you take <i>“The Chain”</i>, add a large extra shot of darkness and a slight twist of horror and paranormal...and leave out the dash of romance!

Tudor became an instant favorite after I read <i>“The Hiding Place”</i>. Her execution of paranormal elements to her thrillers makes them the perfect combo of mysterious, dark and eerie!

Although I admit, I was offended by this statement in the book. Eight-tracks and Cassettes are old...not CD’s! 😂 Right?

The complex plot and long list of characters were a bit overwhelming at first, but eventually meshed into a tangled web of OMG and WTH???

This was another hit with me! I will never look at mirrors the same way again. Parts of the story were so convincing, it was scary. Other parts were just scary! But the entire story was mesmerizing and unputdownable.

The UK has the better book cover. It’s simple, but so eye catching...especially the creepy little stick people!

First, I have to say I love C.J. Tudor's novels and I was so excited when I received the ARC for her third novel...I may have squealed out loud...that doesn't happen often. I immediately dropped everything to start reading. The Other People might be classified in the Horror genre, and I can definitely tell that her writing has been influenced by Stephen King, but I felt this story was more suspenseful or thrilling in nature and included an exciting mystery aspect. Although I didn't really connect with this story as much as I did her last novel (The Hiding Place), I still really enjoyed it and I know others will also. The writing is fantastic! You are immediately drawn into the plot and the lives of each character. There are a lot of key players in this one and it felt a bit confusing for me at first...but everything begins to fall into place quickly and you start seeing the connections. I don't want to spoil anything but if you are a fan of her novels you know there is always some underlying supernatural element that is key to the main plot but not necessarily the driving factor. I was a little bit disappointed with the buildup of Isabelle's story only for it to kind of fizzle at the end...it left me with a few questions...like maybe I missed something. Overall I can't say enough about her novels and they are quickly filling up my library as she turns them out. Another winner that will be hitting shelves in spring and I am certain will be receiving a lot of well-deserved praise.

Katie, the waitress who pours his coffee on that all night shift is one of those. Her father was murdered. She knows about loss.

And, Fran knows the truth. So, she has also put in a lot of miles on the M1, as she and her daughter Alice are on the run...

Somewhere:
“She sleeps. A pale girl in a white room. She doesn’t hear the machines that beep and whir around her. She doesn’t feel the touch of Miriam’s hand or notice when the nurse leaves the room. The pale girl doesn’t hear or feel a thing. But she does dream.”

And, The Sandman, sometimes visits...

First off, I have to say, that I was NOT a fan of “The Chalk Man”, but probably because I cannot really relate to stories where little boys are the main characters, more so, than not liking the writing..

But, this story was “unputdownable”!

I pictured the creepy, dark highway, and the services and diners. I smelled the burnt coffee. And, I felt the pain of the father, Gabe, “the thin man”, who refused to give up hope.

So many of the mystery/suspense/ thriller stories this past year have been unfulfilling because their author’s just throw in a “twist you won’t see coming” because it’s actually a “plot hole” so you cannot see it coming!

This is actually a cleverly thought out story, which all ties together. It’s complexity separates CJ Tudor from a lot of these other authors. PART mystery/suspense and PART supernatural and horror, I was captivated throughout and continually revising my guesses!

I loved it! ❤️

I liked this book but then I didn’t. Gabe’s character was all over the place and unbelievable for me. Otherwise the story seemed to be everywhere. I’ve read so many thrillers lately and this one really missed the mark for me. Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy.

Gabe spends his day looking for his daughter. Driving up and down the motorway searching for the car that took her. 3 years ago his wife and "daughter" where murdered. He believes deep down inside that it wasnt his daughter because when he was driving home he seen his daughter in the backseat of a car screaming. He doesn't give up hope on searching for her.

I found this story fascinating and drew me in from the very beginning. I loved the cast of characters and even the spooky Vibe this story gives you. This is definitely a page Turner. Thank you Netgally and Random House Ballantine for an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Wow! This book grabs on and won't let go! From the very beginning, you're wondering what on Earth is going on, and it only gets better from there. Gabe is an empty shell of a man that has been destroyed by the loss of his wife and daughter. However, convinced his daughter is still alive he spends his days traveling the road where he last saw her. On his travels, he inadvertently meets people that have secrets of their own concerning what happened to his family. He discovers "The Other People."

This book is gripping from the get go. It's twists and turns reveal just enough at just the right time to keep it interesting. I love the flow and the changing of perspectives. While I was able to predict quite a few of the plot points, I was also wrong in a couple of my predictions, which was awesome. It leaves you feeling a bit unresolved, but I feel that with the premise of the book, that's not really a bad thing. This was a great read, and I'm so happy that I was able to read it before its publication date. It has definitely turned me back onto CJ Tudor. While I loved her debut, "The Chalk Man," I wasn't as big a fan of "The Hiding Place" as I had hoped. "The Other People" is another notch in the win column for my 2019 reading!

mystery/thrillers are so hit or miss for me and unfortunately this one was the latter of the two. maybe next time

Like most people, Gabe lives in a self-protective state of denial, thinking that terrible things only happen to other people, until one day something terrible happens to him. He becomes one of those other people. Beyond distraught, and in order to survive, he resolves to find out what happened to his family. He discovers a group on the dark web called “The Other People.” They help victims lie him exact revenge outside the law. The twists and complications of his involvement weave him in a dark web of his own.

Absolutely gripping right from the start! The characters, especially Gabe, are very sympathetic and the plot's constant twists and turns keep you reading late into the night. An excellent thriller, despite some supernatural elements that I normally do not enjoy.

This book had me on the EDGE of my seat the entire time. I just finished it and I had to compose myself before leaving this review.

I'm not going to talk about the plot. If you're here, you should have read the synopsis. Anything more would be spoiling this heart-wrenching book.

What I WILL say is if you like thrillers or mysteries or if this is your first time diving into the genre, you will love this. I didn't figure out any of the twists, which is a huge plus with any mystery. I laughed a few times and gasped a lot. It's damn near perfect.

This is deliciously entertaining mash up of CHAIN and WHISPER MAN! Surprising, twisty, agitating, riveting, stunning, exciting page-turner! I wish it never ends! It’s jumpy, heart throbbing, thrilling roller coaster ride! To finish this book on Halloween gave me such much excitement, fun, adrenalin rush! It was even better than Universal Studios Halloween experience! (because you know the people scared you there are paid for giving you nightmares which is not as effective as what this book did to me!) Of course I gave all of my 5 gazillion stars and some treats that I collected today! Well deserved! Well played!

Gabe is exhausted, nearly crumbling, nicknamed “thin man”, travelling and living in his camper van, passing through service stations, leaving the leaflets about his missing daughter. The daughter is thought as already deceased by the officers.
His painful story starts when one day, he gets stuck in the traffic on the way his home and notices the girl’s appearance in the back of old car covered in cheesy bumper stickers. He is still sure that girl is his daughter and he is kidnapped by someone. But who?

And Katie is working as a waitress at a shitty restaurant where Gabe weekly stops by, raising her kids alone, gathering the pieces of her shattered family after their father was killed in a home intrusion. She knows how to lose someone, how to suffer from deep grief. But she may also know the person who kidnapped Gabe’s daughter.
It’s all about OTHER PEOPLE: Their motto is: An eye for eye! The way of their handling things: Vigilante justice! Quid pro quo.

Their representatives walk around the people. They can sniff their sadness, grief and hatred because of injustice things happened to them and their loved ones. So they pass their cards to them which direct all those people to the dark web. The people who want to punish the ones are responsible the death of their loved ones click the request page, writing down their wish and 24 hours later after the site builders’ or masterminds’ who designed this creepy organization consider their request, if it’s acceptable , they send the confirmation. But…yes of course nothing is for free there is always more than scratching the other one’s back after requesting something involving some much violence! When your request is fulfilled, you OWE THEM A FAVOR. Till you repay your favor, you have every right to scare shittless because they know everything about you. They are watching you. So you better repay your favor and get the out of this site. Never get closer to any of electronic devices!!!
And we also have Good Samaritan who helps Gabe to find the vehicle who had seen during his daughter’s kidnapping.

And finally: We’re also introduced with a girl from the beginning of the book, lying on a bed in vegetative state, living on life support. Somebody always visits her to tell her the stories and read passages from books. This part of story confuses you and makes you think who this girl is and what is her connection with all of these?

But at the final revelations and too many twists later I started to put my fingers on my temples to massage them because of too much usage of my precious grey cells, I absorbed everything and they eventually made sense. (Thanks to my spider senses, at least half of my guesses are right!)

Of course as like he did at the previous works the author added some supernatural, mystical elements which gave me more jumps and “holly shit” screams but also made me enjoyed this book more. Those elements fit so well with the story and I truly loved the resolution about ever characters’ entwined stories!

I read both “Chalk Man” and “Hiding Place” but I think this book is so far my favorite work of this author. This is like a best Halloween gift or treat or trick I’ve ever had.
