When Love Finds You is the first book that I have read from author Virginia Wise. This is an historical Amish book about a new settlement and a young Amish woman. Catrina left her home to escape her past, but her past follows her. This is a nice book of hope, redemption, forgivesness, and faith. Fascinating historical saga about America's first Amish settlement and the adjustment they have to make in the new country where they've settled in Pennsylvania.
This second book features a woman fleeing from a scandal that happened when she was a wealthy Englischer's pampered daughter. She meets and Amish man and his sister.
When she starts to dream of a life with him she starts to wonder if she's deserving of a life of happiness due to her past.
As the relationship progresses his sister steps in and tries to shield him from getting hurt by this woman because of her past.
Engaging characters will hold your attention as it did with mine.
I enjoyed reading about the earlier time period of my home state.
Forgiveness,redemption and strong faith are important qualities this book has.

It has been awhile since I have read a good romance and Virginia Wise's When Love Finds You has reignited my journey back into the genre and even more so into the world of Amish fiction. It's a bit saccharine sweet and over the top but that's kind of how this genre is- just have to suspend belief and enjoy it for what it is! A sweet read.

When Love Finds You by Virginia Wise is the second in her Amish New World Series. In the first book, we meet Catrina, a beautiful young lady who came from Philadelphia to the settlement. This book is her story. Hers and Eli Webber’s. The two of them are smitten from the start when they meet as Eli and his sister Gertrude join the settlement. However, they both have secrets from the past that they carry with them. Rather than being honest with each other, they hide their pasts close to themselves, resulting in so much more pain than honesty could ever have done. Will they be able to work through it and trust each other? And can they trust that God is bigger than their past and has a promise for their future?
This book was really good. I loved getting to know Catrina and Eli and seeing them grow in their relationships. I would definitely recommend this book. You don’t even need to read the first to know what is going on, but you should anyhow because it’s good also! I received a free copy of this story from NetGalley for my honest review. I enjoyed this story that takes place in the first Amish settlement in America. It was interesting to read about their life during those earlier times. There’s an almost instant romance between the characters of Eli and Catrina. Even though they are both wonderful people, their marriage gets off to a rough start because of the interference of Eli’s sister, Gertrud. There are themes in this book of honesty, forgiveness, and accepting God’s mercy and grace. There’s also some light-hearted scenes to balance out some of the serious situations in the storyline. This is a good Amish family drama that will hold your attention all throughout the book.

This is the first book I have read by Virginia Wise and it took me a good third of the way through the book to really get in to it. I love Amish fiction and the idea of the historical setting of this book was intriguing, but the author’s writing style was hard to read in my opinion.

It got a little better the further in to the book, but the entire book was centered around the same conflict over and over. The bottom line was about how withholding the truth can harm a relationship and this is true and a good lesson. It just seemed to me that the story went around and around and the same thoughts and actions came up time and time again from the characters.

In the end, I did enjoy the characters, but couldn’t really get past the writing style to enjoy this book.

Really enjoyed this book. It's my first read by this author and I really am looking forward to reading more from her. I was hooked from the beginning and did not want it to end. I enjoy reading books that get you hooked from the start.

When Love Finds You by Virginia Wise takes us back to 1738 in New Canaan, Pennsylvania. Catrina Witmer left Philadelphia with her grandparents amid a swirl of rumors. She wanted a fresh start away from the swirling gossip and finds that she likes living in the new Amish settlement. Eli Weber arrives with his sister, Gertrud Schulp. They are weavers who will provide much needed cloth to the community. Catrina and Eli are taken with each right way, but Gertrud along with their secrets stand in the way. As they spend time together, Eli is captivated by Catrina’s zest for life and her baking skills. Eli finds himself proposing one day and, when Catrina accepts his proposal, they are quickly wed. Their marriage is not an easy one with Gertrud living with them and the secrets each of them have failed to disclose. Will they get their happily ever after or will this newlywed couple be torn apart? When Love Finds You is the second novel in An Amish New World series, but it can be read on its own. I thought When Love Finds You was well-written with developed characters. The story flows along smoothly. One of my favorite characters is Abram. He is a larger than life type of man who leaped from the pages of the story. I just loved how his story played out. I like the weaving and spinning featured in the story. I enjoyed the author’s descriptions of the weaving process which is complex. The romance between Eli and Catrina is sweet. It builds slowly as they get to know each other. It is love based on what is inside a person instead of what is on the outside (though, Eli does find Catrina to be lovely). There are complications like Catrina’s past and Gertrud. Eli has something that holds him back as well. Miscommunications and misunderstandings abound in When Love Finds You. There is humor sprinkled throughout the story. It is especially prevalent when Abram is around. One of my favorite scenes is when the Bishop arrives to speak with Gertrud, Eli and Catrina. The ending was delightful. When Love Finds You is a heartwarming Amish story about second chances, forgiveness, faith and love.

It's about time for me to give up on this author. This is the third book I've read and this one has the lowest rating because I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Again we're met with over the top drama and immaturity of the characters. Just not my style at all.

This is the second book in this series that I have read, and yes, they can be read alone.
The story takes place back when the Amish first came to America and their first settlement in Pennsylvania, and we see exactly how hard life was, what we take for granted.
With this book, a young weaver has come to the community and the people are thrilled, now some new clothes can be made. There are sheep her for wool, and flax planted for linen.
A young Amish woman with a checkered past, and the weaver, with guilt that he is unable to let go of, have a romantic spark. With all the problems, these two have you have to wonder whether they can ever overcome all the obstacles.
I did find some chuckles here in some of these characters and there is more than one couple with romance in the air.
I enjoyed reading about these early settlers to this country!

She struggles with just being a pretty face when she wants to be part of a community doing her part. The sparks fly when Eli sees Catrina the very first time as he sees the beauty within. Eli not being a woodmen type but a gentle man has is own insecurities that his overbearing sister easily takes advantage of. Eli owes his sister his life and is not free to pursue his own desires. When his sister sees the attraction between her brother and Catrina, she knows the secret that Catrina holds and tension begins to build.

But when love finds you, secrets can only lead to misunderstanding. Catrina and Eli must trust love to conquer the bonds that hold them back.

I enjoyed reading this one as Catrina and Eli find a way to each other. How the community pulled together to help Catrina and Eli to each other. Grace and mercy is beautiful thing to witness in this lovely romance.

Virginia Wise's second installment to her Amish New World series, When Love Finds You, is a pretty good read. I enjoyed it and would love to read more by this author.

When Love Finds You is a beautiful romance with heartfelt characters and a plot that touched me greatly. The writing flows beautifully and Ms. Wise gives the reader the right amount of information concerning the environment and characterization of the Amish to add authenticity to this book.

Catrina Witmer’s character grew up Englisch, and the pampered daughter of a Philadelphia merchant. She leaves under a cloud of scandal and goes with her grandparents to a thriving Amish settlement. She wants a chance to start over where no one knows what happened. I could feel her fear that her new life would disappear if anyone finds out what happened. I liked her character a great deal. I’m a firm believer in second chances.

Eli Webber is a wonderful hero. He’s a humble man, and not gorgeous, which is a breath of fresh air since in most romance novels, the hero is. He’s not the typical Amish man. He’s a weaver, not a farmer and is fairly clueless about establishing a homestead on the edge of the wilderness. He’s devoted to his sister, who definitely see the glass half empty. His patience with her is amazing!

The romance between Catrina and Eli is sweet and develops slowly yet is very satisfying. I love the innocence in Amish romances. A relationship between them is not based on physical attraction, but on the substance of the characters. As I enter my golden years, I understand that is so much more important than physical appearance. I really wanted to see Catrina and Eli find their happy ending!

If you enjoy novels with engaging characters and a heartwarming romance, then you will love When Love Finds You. I loved the spiritual message in this book, and I have to read the first novel in this series. Happy reading!

This was the first book that I have read from this author. She is very good. This was a historical Amish book of a new settlement and about a young Amish woman, who left her previous home to escape her past. Yet her past seems to follow her in her travels. She meets an Amish man that she loves and who loves her, but his sister seems to despise her and tries to matchmake Eli with other women, anything to keep Catrina away from her brother.

This is a wonderful book of redemption, forgivesness, and faith. It was really good, and I had a hard time putting it down. I will be watching for additions to this new series!
