Finally the last Kayrs brother has returned to our world and we get to see him lose his heart. This series has morphed and changed so much over the years that from reading the first book in the series to this one you could seriously not understand what was going on, but I think that is what makes these long running series so amazing. Rebecca has led us on a cray world changing journey and it looks like the world is about to change again. Quade Kayrs has been trapped in his bubble world for millennia, doing his duty as a member of the Seven to keep the evil Ulric trapped in another bubble world to keep him from enacting his plan for an Armageddon on Earth. But the worlds are imploding and he knows his death is imminent, his only consolation being that Ulric will die as well—then an Angel that has visited through the years reaches out and touches him, bringing him home. Haven is no angel and she has no idea what she has done or how, but Quade is suddenly in her life, claiming she’s his mate, and has no idea how to function in the human world over two-thousand years after he left it. Once she is convinced that Quade is no delusion of her broken mind, she has to accept that her version of reality is way off from the truth of the world, but she has no time to deal with that before they are suddenly under attack. Finding a way to escape, while at the same time dealing with the crazy pull between them, Quade and Haven have to accept that their future is not going to be what they planned. Together with the rest of the Seven and their mates, Haven and Quade have to find a way to keep Ulric trapped in his world, keep Haven safe, and once again create a stop gap to saving the world. Only once the drama around them has passed can they really decide if they are ready to commit and deal with the emotions that they are bombarded with as their lives become more entwined and their time together gets more and more dangerous. Haven was a perfect blend of sweet and smart-ass and I loved her, possibly even saw a bit of myself in her, even if I was afraid that her compulsions were going to lead her down some seriously dark holes. Seeing her dealing with her changed reality showed just how great she was at adapting to her surroundings and changes to life, which I definitely don’t do well, and it was hilarious to see her going toe-to-toe with the scary Quade without a single qualm. Her past is beyond tragic and while it forced her to create walls around her heart and made her ability to trust a little bit iffy, it didn’t turn her into a hard person, instead making her willing to help and protect those in need of protection. Quade was a character for sure, but I suppose seeing anyone dealing with this very strange world of facebookers, cell-phoners, and idiotic drivers after having been locked in an alternate universe for millennia would be entertaining. He is a serious badass, killing to protect those he loves and to make sure that his enemies know he means business, but most important to stop anyone from coming near his mate. I loved watching him blossom as he found his footing in our world and once he was stable and settled back in with his brothers we got to see the full impact of his bossiness and greatness. While there were certainly moments of caveman still, that I pretty much expected for any vampire, much less a Kayrs. It was also funny to watch him denying his love for Haven even as he fell deeper and deeper until he suddenly had a lightbulb moment and understood just how much she meant to him. Heat and Passion are definitely the words of the day when you read this story, the fire exploding between these two every minute, but the arguing and fights are just as entertaining to read as the sexy times. I am dying to find out which of the Seven loses his heart and mind next as a woman steals his attention and of course seeing what will happen in this crazy war and seeing how the Seven will defeat Ulric. Another masterpiece Rebecca.

The eleventh book in this romantic suspense series. It could potentially work as a standalone but you'd get more enjoyment from it if you've read the other books. Good story with lots of action.

This actiony goodness is both spicy and tender, I love Rebecca Zanetti's style - the prose is well written and easy, the plot is fast paced and the romance is sparking. Hero's Haven is no exception, in fact the whole series is excellent. Recommend!

Hero’s Haven by Rebecca Zanetti is an exciting, action-packed, suspenseful, romantic, steamy, and thoroughly entertaining addition to her Dark Protectors series. I love on-the-run books where two desperate people who don’t know each other are forced to rely only on one another to stay alive. Even more so when they also share a mystical, paranormal connection that draws them together in the first place, setting them off on a quest to save the world. So, of course, I was all in for Hero’s Haven from page one. I loved it so much that it was hard for me to just read quickly and be done, unfortunately. I wanted to savor it. It was so worth it. I feel like I say this every time I read a book by this author but her colorful and detailed description, development of believable and emotionally intense relationships between the hero and heroine, and seamless balance of action, suspense, and romance always leaves me amazed, satisfied and ready to dive into the next book in the series or a new read by her. I’m adding phenomenal worldbuilding to my list for this series because it’s so important and so effectively done.

For the first time in her life, Haven is experiencing true freedom. An artist whose adoptive family has declared crazy for so long she has begun to accept it, she’s been haunted by dreams/visions of a beautiful, tortured man that feel real. She paints the dreams and visions of him, capturing him and places visited in those dreams with her gifts. Quade Kayrs is a vampire-demon hybrid warrior, isolated and tormented with a lifetime of pain and torture as he fulfills his sacred duty as one of the Seven who are bound together to keep the evil Ulrich imprisoned. The only thing that has offered him comfort over the years has been Haven who somehow visited him in his imprisonment and has now set him free. As Quade joins her on-the-run they must work together to evade both his enemies and her family’s unhinged pursuit of her neither knowing that their destinies may be aligned.

This is my First book In the Dark Protectors series so I’m unfamiliar with the secondary characters from previous books and the mythology of this universe. But it didn’t affect my reading of the novel. In fact, it increased my desire to finally start reading this series from the beginning. Zanetti does an excellent job within the exposition of the story through the narration and the characters of informing readers about the Seven and their sacred duty to keep Ulrich imprisoned, as well as the mythology of the Dark Protector universe, multiple times. Some readers may find this annoying, but when you get to book 11 in a series it’s helpful, especially if you are reading a book as stand-alone.

The development of the relationship between Haven and Quade is interesting. Both are strong and fiercely independent, but they take turns leaning more heavily on the other, relying on their strength. That was cool. I also liked how their roles are flipped from the usual, where Haven wants no strings sex and Quade is all about the strings. After experiencing freedom for the first time and believing that she isn’t the type for settling down because of her issues she’s convinced she can never settle down and have a long-term relationship or “normal.” They also must work through conflicts between her independence and his alpha male control issues and bossiness, especially because she might be his true mate. A fact she’s in denial about.

Both the primary and secondary characters are effectively developed through description, personality, and interactions with secondary characters. Reading along as Quade adapts to modern technology is fun because he has some hilarious quirks that are kind of adorable. These scenes balance out the story nicely because for the most part, the novel is intense – emotionally and physically – considering all that is at stake for the characters. Zanetti’s use of language and vibrant description shines in these scenes as well as in the worldbuilding, character development, and action sequences, which are well-choreographed, bringing the characters, the action of the story, and the Dark Protector’s world to life so effortlessly. The mythology of the Seven, the Realm, and the Dark Protectors is so intriguing, and the villains are scary and undeniably formidable.

Hero’s Haven breathtaking action, steamy romance, humor, intriguing mythology, fantastic worldbuilding, diverse array of characters, and engrossing storytelling has drawn me completely into the Dark Protector’s universe. I can’t wait to go back to the beginning and dive into this world.

Hero’s Haven is book eleven in Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. I’ve enjoyed this series since I first read Fated, the first book in the series. In Vampire’s Faith, which is book eight, a new story arc began and I’m loving it.

Quade Kayrs is a member of The Seven. Quade sacrificed himself thousands of years ago to keep an evil Kurjan priest from going into the world. The priest (I totally forget his name) wants nothing more than to kill all the enhanced women on earth. If he succeeds, vampires and shapeshifters will be unable to mate. Along with his brother Ronan, they trap the evil guy in a bubble and surround him with their own bubbles. I hope that makes sense because it seems kind of convoluted to me.

While Ronan’s bubble failed, Quade’s remains. Most people would say he’s gone mad and they would be right. Dying again and again only to resuscitate would drive any being mad. The only thing that gives him a little peace is the woman that visits in his dreams. It’s when his brother Ivar visits his world that he realizes that Haven is not a figment of his imagination. She’s a real person. His brothers are trying to use him to find her and that’s something that Quade won’t allow, crazy or not.

Haven Daly has accepted that she’s bonkers. She’s dreamed about a man for years, thinking she actually sees and feels him. It’s when she actually throws them both through a portal and back to her house that Haven knows that she’s cracked up. There’s no way that is possible. Right? Wrong. It’s obvious that Quade is flesh and blood. When he tells her that she isn’t human, she doesn’t question it. She’s a freak.

I did enjoy the romance part of the book, but I loved the fighting and the reuniting of the brothers. I love reading where the story is going and can’t wait until the next book comes out.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Haven and Quade we're just one of the Realms couple that you will fall in love with. There is fun, intrigue, and the Rance that is uniquely Rebecca.
I can't wait to see what's next.

This was an interesting addition to the series but not my favorite. I loved Haven and found her story very interesting. I found Quade less interesting, he might be might be missing least favorite hero in the series.

***3 Stars***

This was one of those reads that I liked, and enjoyed, but despite loving the interactions between the characters and how much fun it was to watch Quade figure out this new world he found himself in, I just couldn’t get totally immersed in the story. It wasn’t the writing, or even not liking Haven or Quade, it just didn’t hook me. So, I’m putting it on the “it’s not you, it’s me” shelf. But, I’m not giving up on the series, because there are quite a few characters I need to know how their stories play out.

Quade and his brothers made a vow to keep the worlds safe from Ulric. When Quade's world fell apart, he figured his time was up and time for his final death. Haven had other ideas and even though she didn't think he was real, she was determined to get him to safety. Once she got him out of that dangerous situation, they found out that the danger has just started.

Another great addition to the Dark Protector series.

There hasn’t been a book that Rebecca Zanetti has written that wasn’t amazing . The dark protectors series is one of my top three series of all time . Never disappointed.

I love this series! Hero’s Haven is an amazing addition and I cannot wait for the next. Quade and Haven are fantastic. I felt like their story has a little bit different feel than the rest of the series, but not in a bad way. Their chemistry feels a bit lighter and “humorous”, probably because he has been gone for so long. I really enjoyed it and am so looking forward to the next book!

I love Rebecca Zanetti and this book didn’t let me down! This was a great next installment in the Dark Protectors series. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

FINALLY Quade's story! I loved this book. There was some good LOL humor. Haven thinks she's nuttier than squirrel poop for seeing Quade. When he REALLY arrives, she thinks he is in her imagination and that she needs to be admitted. This backstory is getting really serious, and I can't wait for the next book!

I'm sorry I had a hard time getting through this book. Not because the story or the writing. But I hate indecisive characters. I hate back and forth. That will always turn me away from a story no matter the author. It's just me. Everything else about this book was wonderful so I'm not taking away because of my own personal issues.

You can never go wrong with a rebecca zanetti book! Her dark protector series is out of this world! This was such a great addition to the series. I knew it would be a great read before I started the book, but I was sucked in from the first page! I made sure I would have enough time to finish the book in a sitting, because I knew I wouldn't want to put it down!
Haven and Quade. I have been waiting for Quades book since his first appearance! I have been wanting to know how he'd adjust, and what his story was going to be like! I was definitely not disappointed!
I highly recommend this book, the others in the new dark protector series, and then all of the original dark protectors!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Hero's Haven was my first Rebecca Zanetti book and I was really nervous to jump into the middle of a paranormal/fantasy series. Typically world building is fairly complicated and this series no different but yet, I fell into a great place immediately. I zero issues following the storyline although I know I missed a lot of history. I will 100% go back and read this series from the beginning and am super intrigued by the way this storyline will continue to play out. Like many series, the end of this book stops in really good place for the couple but the actual storyline extends through the entire series.

Haven is a heroine to adore from the beginning. She's had a really rough life, believes herself to be mentally ill, and is still full of kindness and compassion. She's also super smart and her growth regarding her confidence is lovely to see. Our hero, Quade is dangerously sexy, super protective, and immediately smitten with Haven. He also believes he is doomed in life and not allowed to love. When you're reading, watch out for toothpaste!

Rebecca's writing is fast paced, easy to follow, and the storyline has the perfect amount of intensity. I loved all of the side characters and she does an excellent job of building a love story while part of an overarching plot that will take make books to finish. I am so happy I took a chance on this series and can't wait to read more!

Hero’s Haven (Dark Protectors #11). By Rebecca Zanetti. 2020. Lyrical Press (ARC eBook).

For centuries, vampire-demon hybrid, Quade Karys, has been in another dimension, far away from Earth and his family. As a member of The Seven, his purpose was to keep a dangerous enemy imprisoned within a pocket between worlds. But just as Quade feels his body and mind failing and succumbing to delusions of a beautiful woman that visits him, the dimension collapses. He is saved by his beautiful stranger by traveling back to Earth through a portal of her creation. Now, he and Haven Daly are being are being pursued by Ulric’s followers, who want to use Haven’s abilities to return Ulric to Earth.

Quade’s reintegration into a world he has long been parted from leads to some humorous scenes, especially his discovered fondness for eating mint toothpaste. And as the two search for the surviving members of Quade’s family, Haven discovers that she is a part of a world she never knew existed; one that has vampires, demons, shifters, fae and more. All the while, the two of them have to adjust to each other and Haven is as stubborn as Quade is overprotective.

The world Zanetti has created is full of action, romance and humor that will keep readers coming back to this series.

Haven has some issues and thinks she is crazy (of course her step-father helped that along). Then along comes Quade who played an important role in what she thought of as her delusions, but he is VERY real and HOT. Haven is all that helped Quade get through his trials and tribulations of keeping Ulric captured (he’s a bad guy, BTW). This is part of Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors Series and is a great addition to the series. Zanetti is one of those authors that knows how to weave a good story and is on my automatic read list. It was interesting to see how Haven and Quade finally …well can’t say what as that would tell all that there is to tell for this story. If you want to find out how it all works out grab a copy of this bookend enjoy!
Thanks to netgalley for an advanced copy of this book for an honest opinion.
