Lisa regan writes thrillers/mysteries like no one else. Josie is a complex and fascinating character. I thought this particular book might just the the best one so far! |
Wow-I loved this book. The only disappointment for me was that I hadn't read the other books in this series, so now I have to do that. Brilliant, well-written, great plot, fabulous characters. Recommended. |

Nice addition to the series...in fact one of my favorite books in this series. I loved the mystery, the pacing and the characters. I found it hard to put this one down. If you're a fan of this series, then this one is a definite read! |
I received a free e-copy of Cold Heart Creek (Detective Josie Quinn #7) by Lisa Regan from NetGalley for my honest review. The most exciting, amazing, heart-pounding series I have read in years. I just can't get enough of this amazing series. It just keeps getting better and better. Love the characters, the mystery, and the writing is amazing! Please keep this series going. |
I can’t believe that this is the seventh book in the series featuring Detective Josie Quinn and her team. In this book they are called out to investigate two bodies, found by a park ranger, at a forest campsite. It becomes clear that there was another woman with them but she appears to be missing. Whilst seeking clues Josie comes across a woman, in,labour, staggering out of the woods. It appears that this woman went missing two years ago and informs Josie that she has been held captive by a hermit In the woods. Josie and Noah, who is a Lieutenant in her team and also her boyfriend, have to try to see if there is a link between the murders and this woman. They come across an isolated farmhouse in the forest known as The Sanctuary where people can go who want to escape their lives and Josie is convinced that some of the people there are involved. As well as struggling to solve this case, Josie is struggling with nightmares as her abusive “mother” who is dying in prison wants to see her. Josie is a likeable character, a dedicated police officer with a heartbreaking past and you can’t help but feel sorry for her. This is a great book in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. It is fast paced, gripping with plenty of twists and turns that you won’t want to put it down. I can’t wait for book number eight! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. |
Book 7 in the Josie Quinn series!!! Yahoooo, as you all know this is my #1 series of all time!!!!!! This book did not disappoint! We saw Josie go through so much and the last couple of books and I felt there wasn’t much of a storyline advancing Josie and Noah’s relationship but I feel like we did get a bit more in this novel and I was so pleased. To me, Lisa Regan writes the perfect blend of edge of your seat thriller and relationship development. I really appreciate all the characters and their development throughout every installment. You don’t just fall in love with Josie but you fall in love with the other important characters in Josie's life. As usual, a brilliant gripping page-turning novel!! I’m already counting down the days to the next one. You can read these as stand alone’s but I highly highly recommend reading this series in order! It will be worth your time I promise you. This story involves two newlyweds found dead at their campsite, and a cult/commune house not far away from the murder site…. |
I received this ARC from Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley.com, to Bookouture, and to Lisa Regan. In book 7 of this fantastic series, Lisa Regan does not disappoint. I highly recommend this book. It is suspenseful and is a real page turner. |
This is book 7 featuring homicide detective Josie Quinn and the series shows no sign of becoming stale. If anything they are becoming more compelling as we learn more about the cast of characters. This story starts with the mysterious deaths of two campers which soon leads to a strange cult like commune deep in the woods. As always the intrigue builds quickly leading to a shocking conclusion leaving the reader begging for more. Lets hope the author doesn't leave us waiting too long for book 8. |
A young couple are found at the side of a campfire dead. Have they eaten something they shouldn’t have or has somebody killed them . Detective Josie Quinn and her team are called to the scene. While coming the scene they find a third sleeping bag .,Where is the other person are they alive or dead. They also find a farmhouse is the middle of the woods where people go to escape .There is a young girl there who looks like she wants to say something but doesn’t. While coming away from the farmhouse a young pregnant woman runs into there path. Josie has to deliver the baby in the back of the car. While at hospital this woman tells Josie she was taken from a camp and kept held in the coves by the hermit. Then when the body of the young woman from the farmhouse turns up dead. Has everything got to do with this farmhouse or the hermit who lives in the coves Great read Thanks NetGalley |
Josie Quinn has been one of my favourites ever because of the way her character has been developed with believable qualities as well as flaws. We can identify with her pain and the abuse she suffered in her childhood at the hands of the woman she thought was her mother. Josie’s vulnerability coupled with her inner strength and determination makes her the complete woman that she is. Noah her boyfriend and her partner is the only who understands her and supports her especially when she gets these horrifying nightmares where she actually relives her harrowing experience of abuse and torture. When Noah and Josie get back from vacation they come face to face with a challenging case of two bodies found at a campsite by a creek. There are no visible injuries on them but the police do discover puddles of vomit close by indicating that they might have been poisoned The presence of a third sleeping bag points to a third person, a woman. The search for the missing person leads Josie and her team deep into the forest where they discover a cult living in a farmhouse led by a charismatic woman called Charlotte. Cults always have had a negative connotation as being a group of people with novel beliefs and socially deviant views and this group of people also start behaving strangely when Josie starts questioning them. Intrigued she decides to investigate them further. The case takes a bizarre turn when they find a pregnant woman in labour in the woods. Are all these cases connected? Is there something more than what meets the eye in the cult which is called the Sanctuary? The plot of this captivating narrative keeps our hearts racing as we wait with bated breath for the next twist. Just when we think it cannot get better than that Lisa springs us with another shocking turn of events. The writing is fluid and lucid, the plot well crafted and the characterisation phenomenal which completes the ingredients of a perfect thriller. Kudos to Lisa for yet another winner. My score a perfect 5 *. |
In the stark light of dawn, the young couple are laid out on their backs by the dying campfire, their hands clasped between them. Their eyes are open, but their hearts are cold… When a park ranger stumbles across the bodies of Valerie and Tyler Yates by a creek in the small town of Denton, Detective Josie Quinn is first on the scene. Still reeling from the news that her abusive mother is dying, Josie suspects this is more than just accidental poisoning, and she’s right: someone jammed a crudely carved pendant necklace down Valerie’s throat before she died. Combing the area, Josie’s team discover a third sleeping bag indicating there could have been an extra guest around the fire that night. A lucky escape? A missing victim? Or a suspect on the run? Finding this person is the key to the entire investigation… Trawling the couple’s photo albums for clues, Josie can’t imagine why anyone might want to harm these smiling, carefree young lovers. Until a face in one of the pictures stops her in her tracks and leads her to a farmhouse hidden deep within the forest – a special place where people go to escape, and to hide. There they meet a young girl with frightened eyes and bandaged wrists who knows more than she is saying. But the next day she’s found dead, choked with a matching necklace… With her mother’s life hanging by a thread, Josie has an impossible decision to make. But first she must find the meaning of the pendant and catch this twisted killer before another innocent life is taken. Is she already too late? This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to see what the author does next! Recommend reading. I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review. |

Two campers are found dead with no sign of distress. Det Josie Quinn is called in where she finds these were calculated deaths. The eerie feeling of this story is a little different from prior books but it was definitely an attention grabber. Add Josie's personal trials on top of the investigation and the mystery grows as the killer becomes bolder. Lisa Regan can be counted on to give her readers an excellent story that keeps them reading "just a few more pages" until the end. |
I really enjoy Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series and this was another excellent addition. There was lots going on to keep my interest from a creepy cult to a hermit living in the wilderness. Can't wait for book number 8 |
This was simply fabulous!! Exactly what I needed when life got tough for me. 2 bodies in the woods, Josie and Noah were called to investigate. A third missing camper made it a wider search. A missing woman was suddenly found on the road just to have Josie deliver the child at the back of her hatchback. Josie had a potpourri of an investigation but it smelled real bad. Something was afoul there. My first book by author Lisa Reagen, though 7th book in the series. The first word that came to me while reading was - the writing was so friendly. Reading a new author and that too a mid-series book, I should have felt alienated. But this author went over and beyond in the story. The past and the present were so well assimilated that understanding the characters was seamless. I couldn't help but keep looking at Josie. A lead Detective in the police procedural with her own demons, in a relationship with her lieutenant, I was in awe of her. I couldn't stop reading the book to get to the end. There was something hypnotic and loving about the whole vibe of it as if the book was inviting me to read in its pages and forget my tensions. Make no mistake, it was a murder / missing persons investigation and quite hard hitting at the core of it. The last section was so spellbounding and throat-ripping that I had to walk while reading to get rid of the excess adrenaline. My thriller-y heart was so happy reading this book. I simply loved. My afternoon read today, a perfect escape from life. |
A park ranger finds newlyweds Valerie and Tyler Yates dead by a creek near Denton, the stomping ground of our well-loved detective, Josie Quinn. While Detective Quinn is immediately dispatched to the scene, she’s still trying to come to terms with the news that her abusive mother is dying. Her personal life has to be put to the back-burner though, because Josie suspects there is more to their deaths than what meets the eye. At first glance it seems Tyler and Valerie died of poisoning, maybe by eating the wrong food. But soon it becomes clear they were murdered. The discovery of a third sleeping bag makes the alarm bells go off. Who is this third person and where are they? Is this another victim, a missing person, or could this be the murderer they’re looking for? The search for this illusive third person brings Detective Quinn and her team to a farmhouse hidden deep in the woods. A commune for those looking to get away from everyday life and those who want to hide out, for their own reasons… An Unwilling Group Of Farmhouse Residents Josie has the huge task ahead of trying to uncover the information she needs from the people living at the farmhouse. People who’d rather not answer her questions. Are they hiding something, or someone? Or are they just not forthcoming because they don’t want to be disturbed? When a third victim is found, a young girl from the commune, our team has to pick up the pace and work even harder to find the user of the third sleeping bag before more victims turn up. Series But Standalone With this seventh instalment of the Josie Quinn series, Lisa Regan created another gripping crime thriller that’s hard to put down. Although the book brings up some things from Josie’s past, it is perfectly readable as a standalone book without losing the plot. The story left me on the edge of my seat. I just needed to know who this third person was. And just when I thought I had our suspect figured out Lisa had another trick up her sleeve and took the story in a completely different direction. Suspense until the very end. If you enjoy reading a good crime thriller, either as a series or as a standalone story. Cold Heart Creek, book 7 of the Detective Josie Quinn series is a must read! |

Number seven in the series it is absolutely brilliant!! This book could be read as a standalone but it would benefit if the previous books were read. Lisa Regan is an amazing author who delivers mystery and intrigue in bucket loads!! I would highly recommend not just this book but all of her books! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc. |
Cold Heart Creek the seventh Detective Josie Quinn Book by Lisa Regan was an excellent addition to the series. I enjoyed the mystery and how it included everyone from the previous books and built on the storyline. Josie is one of those kick butt female leads that you love and you as a reader can’t wait to see what she is going to do next and in this book you got to learn more about her childhood and how she was going to deal with with a major event that she had to face about it. The mystery in this book was also off the charts I interesting and kept me guessing until the end. I love this series and can not wait until the next book comes out. Cold Heart Creek gets five out of five stars. |
Cold Heart Creek is the 7th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. I recommend reading the previous books before reading this one. I have enjoyed this series so far but for some reason I just couldn't get into this book. Maybe I am just burnt out on thrillers and need to read a different genre. I just couldn't get into this story. There's also something about Josie and Noah's relationship that bothers me. It doesn't feel like they are equal partners. Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for a copy of "Cold Heart Creek" in exchange of an honest review. |
