Dr. Mouse is the choice physician for the whole animal community.  He is friendly and wise and truly desires to be there for his patients.  He only allows six patients a day and only sees them one at a time.  

He begins his day by swinging open the old barn door and hanging out his shingle... "Consultations from sunrise to sunset."  He arranges his six chairs, dons his white lab coat and lays three cushions on a wobbly armchair.  On top of the pile he conducts his business for the day while snacking on his breakfast cheese.  

He is not disappointed by a slow, no-show day because in comes a chicken, a dog, a bear, an owl, and finally a fox.  Dr. Mouse directs them to their designated seats in his waiting room.  His strict rule is that no business is conducted until all six chairs are occupied.  

 After the sixth patient arrivals Dr. Mouse tends to his patient's health needs one at a time as specified. As each wait their turn to see the good doctor a lot of the healing is administered from patient to patient and the doctor becomes the facilitator.  

The illustrations are well detailed, witty and oftentimes funny.  Problem solving by the group turns into therapy sessions and medical breakthroughs.  

Doctor Mouse giggled, and gobbles up his last cube of cheese. "Isn't it wonderful, my dears? Everybody is fit and well again, all bright and cheerful." 

The satisfied animals all cured of their maladies leave exhausted Dr. Mouse sound asleep on his pillow and once outside they declare to the world:  

"He's SO nice!" says dog. 
"Best doctor in the world," boomed the bear.  "He always knows what to do."

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of the book for review. This story left me stumped. There is a gathering of animals at the doctor’s office, the consultation isn’t private, more like a support group. The problems are solved by the animals among themselves with no particular rhyme or reason,

Oozing with charm, from both the illustration work and the writing. Things work out not because one person was able to solve every problem himself, but because a number of people gathered together. The power of collaboration and kindness!

I liked this sweet story about friendship and generosity. The pictures are pleasing, as well. Probably ideal for the PreK to early elementary school crowd based on length and illustrations.

Huh? I didn't get it. I feel like I've missed something. The illustrations are the only thing that I liked about this because I'm really confused about the story. It didn't make much sense. Unfortunately this is a no from me.

The story was really cute and I loved how the patients all helped each other with their "sicknesses." However, the wording was a bit over the targeted age. The illustrations were very cute as well. My 5 year old loved Doctor Mouse.

I read this book to my granddaughter who is Two . I also read it to my 4 year old daughter.  I know it was not intended for 2 year olds but when you read to one you have to read to both. My granddaughter is very advanced for her age and normally has no problems understanding books for this age group.  Neither of the girls liked it. They both lost interest pretty quick. For one it is too wordy for for the intended audience. It also had alot of big words that even my 4 year old did not understand. The doctor is a psychiatrist not a regular doctor. It was hard to explain to the kids just what a psychiatrist is. It was also very choppy . While I liked the fact it was about problem solving I feel like it would be a better book for ages 7 and up. The illustrations were ok but even they were not all that great. Many thanks to the Publisher , the Author , and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Hmmm…  This felt a little weak to me.  It's a story that should be right for a very young audience, but in actual fact is told with quite a lot of text on the page.  A rural mouse who's a Doctor tries to wait for a full consultation room – and that's only a good thing, as the animals that come to see him end up sorting each other out.  There's some moral here about cooperation, sharing time, items and expertise – but that's lost by the way the whole thing comes across.  The illustrations are OK, but I felt the whole thing could have been snappier to put the intended wit and fun in.

This is a very sweet and cute story. I love that it includes so many different animals and that they all end up helping each other.

This is an odd story that seems to have lost something in translation.

Doctor Mouse opens up his practice every day when the sun rises. He has six chairs, and so he waits for six patients to occupy them before he begins. The animals end up solving all their problems among themselves, and Doctor Mouse gets all the credit.

While the pictures are somewhat pleasant and the overall premise isn't terrible, I'm having a hard time finding things to like. Doctor Mouse comes off a little sarcastic at one point (even though I don't necessarily think that was intended; it may be an issue of word choice with the translation), and he seems to be suffering from memory problems of his own (for example, he remembered that Mr. Bear had stomach issues, but he didn't remember that Mr. Bear was a bear and not a wolf). The fact that Doctor Mouse insists on wearing his white coat backwards like a straitjacket isn't very reassuring, either!

I thought the story might've gotten more interesting when a fox showed up, given that three of the patients were a chicken, a rabbit, and an owl. But even though danger was hinted at (the fox stated that he was hungry), nothing happened.

I'm afraid I'm having trouble finding the point of this one. The main character may have some sort of mental illness, but it's not dealt with as anything more than a device for character development. And the other animals aren't much better. I get that they're using Doctor Mouse's waiting room as a sort of support group, but I'm not clear on why Doctor Mouse needs to be there if he's not going to do anything but eat cheese and sleep.

Strange little story.

I’m not sure if it’s the translation or the story that I don’t quite like. First Dr. Mouse aks patients “What’s wrong with you” and it seem off putting, almost like an accusation of wrongdoing.  Part of the story feels like a therapy meeting and partly like a real doctor's visit.  I like the idea of the story and I love the illustrations, but I think the point of the story is muddled, or just completely missing.

A cute picture book that showcases the peculiar practice of a doctor mouse. The doctor has his routine when it comes to seeing patients and it vexes the sickly animals that visit him. They soon discover they can help each other just as much as the doctor can.

I didn't really enjoy Doctor Mouse. The artwork was fantastic, however, the story itself was just not that interesting in my opinion. The book is very verbose for the intended audience, and the story itself just didn't make that much sense. It was nice to see the animals cooperating together, but the book just didn't work for me.

A bit of a strange and not typical doctor story, but very interesting. I loved how the animals worked together to solve their problems. The lesson here would be working together. I enjoyed the colorful artwork.

What a delightful and lovely book! I read this because I love rodents and it was really enjoyable despite my age (#youngatheart). I adored the beautiful and colourful illustrations coupled with the short but cute tale. It's definitely something I would buy for my children (if I had any) 😁

This was a nice little story, with cute illustrations and an interesting concept. However, despite feeling it was a cute idea, I found that sometimes the longer words and wordy nature of the book may have been better suited to a slightly older audience than it seems to be targeted at. 

That said, I really liked the way in which the characters helped each other by talking through their problems as I felt that this was a nice way to introduce an idea of doctors treating non- physical as well as physical illness. Therefore I quite enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to others!

Cute story of a Dr. Mouse treating various animals. it seems he treats the same animals everyday, actually. They come to him for various ailments, none of which he actually has to treat. He just invites them in and has them sit in the waiting room, as he eats his nibble of cheese, and they find solutions to their problems amongst themselves! Of course, every creature is pleased with the good doctors services!  The illustrations were adorable. I think littles will enjoy this tale.; older children will see the ruse and have a good chuckle!

It's a bit text-heavy for the intended audience... I'd say the story's interest level is maybe 1-2nd, text level 3-4th? It was cute how the animals helped each other solve their problems; the doctor was not the greatest in the world, but it's supposed to be funny how he 'helps' solve his patients' issues. Nice enough story.

This book is about a doctor who helps patients by having them talk through their issues. They end up helping each other. The doctor was a psychiatrist I think, and my 6year old was a little confused why the doctor was not helping hurt people. It was a food chance to explain there are different types of doctors. We liked the pictures but I felt some of the words such as “consultation” were a little too big for this age. My child’s favorite part was the fix and how the fox shared.
