What a great book! I literally could not put it down. The characters seemed so real and I was so interested in what was going to happen to them all. The ending was WOW. Thank you netgalley for this ARC. One of the best I have read.

Marin and Derek are a couple whose marriage is rapidly deteriorating after their young son is abducted. Each handles the loss in a different manner, Derek becomes absorbed in his work, and Marin indulges in overwhelming grief. I loved this in-depth look into a fragile marriage. While I guessed the ending a little over a third of the way in, in no way was my enjoyment of the book diminished. I loved this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an advance copy to review.

Marin had the perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They're admired in their community and are a loving family. Up until the day their son Sebastian taken. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. The only thing keeping her going is the unlikely chance that one day Sebastian reappears. She hires a P.I. to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding him, she discovers that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman.
As Marin sets a plan to confront her husband, another revelation surfaces. Derek's lover might know what happened to their son. And so might Derek.

This book was absolutely incredible. You thought ‘Jar of Hearts’ was great well this is better and that is saying something. I couldn’t put it down for a second and when I really, really had to I was thinking about it. Jennifer Hillier is one of my favourite authors, I was praying I got accepted for this and was over the moon when I did. This book will leave you completely floored. It was an absolute pleasure and honour to have read this. Highly recommended xxxx

Marin has it all, a great husband, a beautiful son, a luxury life and a thriving business. Her world seems perfect until 3 days before Christmas when her son, Sebastian, disappears in a crowded market. She only took her eyes off of him for a few seconds but that was all it took. Sixteen months later her life is a shell of what it once was. Her son is still missing with zero clues as to what happened to him. Marin's emotional and mental state are the lowest they have ever been with one suicide attempt already. Then she finds out her husband is cheating on her with a young, beautiful woman. Marin decides to make sure this young woman doesn't take her husband. What follows is a twisting, wild ride that will have you reading well into the night to finish this book. There are twists and turns that will have you gasping when you think you know what's about to happen but find out you were completely wrong. It keeps you guessing right up to the end. The author did a great job of bringing the characters to life and plotting out a twisted, crazy, sometimes very dark storyline.
Thank You Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book.

What a roller coaster! I had never read her books before but I've already checked out her last book. I wouldn't say this was high-quality literature but it was well-paced and in a book where there was already a lot going on with a missing child and a philandering husband, they look the time to really delve into the character of the woman who was having the affair with the husband and flesh her out which I thought was both unusual and welcome. The character of the ex-boyfriend Sal was a bit flatter to me but not horrible. I think it was on purpose to set up the big reveal but since they bothered to give us so much back story on the girlfriend, it seemed out of place. We also didn't get much background on the main character Marin; just what she was doing in the present. I would have liked to have known more about her childhood since we had learned it about every other character.

About 70% of the way through this book I woke up in the middle of the night and realized, “OMG! Xxx is xxx and xxx!” I won’t spoil it, but once I realized it I couldn’t wait to finish and see how it all wrapped up.

Marin and Derek seem to have the perfect marriage, including the perfect little boy, Sebastian. Their world falls apart when Bash is kidnapped. Sixteen months after the kidnapping they are both falling apart in their own way.

Instead of turning to each other, Marin turns to her best friend of over 20 years, Sal, while Derek turns to a much-younger Kenzie for comfort. Their relationships with these two are complicated to say the least.

The story deals with some ugly topics, and the characters aren’t always likeable, but the story is riveting and the book is a page turner.

I’ll definitely be recommending this one to friends!

Unbelievably captivating and thrilling, Little Lies is an unputdownable story of a woman on the edge whose living every mothers worst nightmare. I found this book to be fast paced, finishing it in one sitting. When I first read the description I was a bit weary because there are so many thriller out there that deal with child abductions but my god, this turned out to be completely out of the box. Hillier intricately weaved multiple storylines together to create such a diabolical and manipulative story filled with twists and turns that left me speechless. I found the writing to be beautifully done while also being powerful and emotional. With the characters, I found each to have such a strong story of their own. Let me just say that ending though!!!! OMG! Little Lie is a must read for 2020! Jennifer Hillier is 100% st her best with this one. I can't wait to see what she does next!

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Four hundred and eighty seconds is all it took for Marin’s life to be forever changed. That’s also about the length of time that it took to completely and utterly pull me in to this book. I lived every single word through Marin’s eyes. I identified with the characters. I either loved or hated them and was shocked by the conclusion when I learned that I had the opportunity to change my mind on a few.

Little Secrets, by Jennifer Hiller is easily going to be a best seller for 2020. It’s impossible to read this book as a wife, as a mother - - as a HUMAN and not have feelings...ALL the feelings. There were parts of this magical thriller that were so difficult to read; impossible to not think about your own family. The way it was done though, was nothing short of perfection. The author writes beautifully about some of the most awful topics imaginable. I am truly blown away.

Jar of Hearts has been one of my favorite thrillers of all time. I recommend it to everyone. If I’m being honest, I wanted to read this next book by Jennifer Hiller because it sounded good, but I KNEW there was no way it would be even close to as good as Jar of Hearts. I was positive, but wanted to give it a shot anyway. I hate being wrong, but in this case, I was SO wrong.

Little Secrets is everything. I feel so lucky to have had a chance to receive an ARC of this one. Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press and to Netgalley. And thank you to Jennifer Hiller for being brilliant and leaving me emotionally stunned. I can not wait to obtain a physical copy of this one for my shelves!

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book!!! What a roller coaster ride!!! Loved this book to the very core and saw every bit playing before my eyes! I loved every character even when they made me so mad! I can’t imagine these feelings but I know this is real life for some families. Unputdownable five star domestic thriller right here!!
Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy!

This is one of my fastest read I’ve lately done because this soul haunting, gripping, mend nerving, page turner truly captivates you from the beginning. You get hooked. You cannot resume doing your basic things like watching TV (thankfully I finished this one before binge watch Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, because reading this book or binge watching one of my favorite series may force me to invent a new activity like binge reawatching- read one page, look at the tv for one minute and repeat this action several times- till you start to think your favorite stand up star lost her son and deals with her cheating husband,- see how two storylines merged perfectly- well at least both Mrs. Maisel and Marin suffers the same kind of assholish husband’s betrayals. ), eating proper food (I bribed my husband to feed me but he backstabbed me and ate whole pizza by himself, I hope he gains 100 pounds and I’ll reject to push him out of the door!), taking bathroom breaks (adult diapers are the best invention of the history, what, you said: there is no such a thing as adult diapers! Okay this is humiliating! I’ll kill those so called best friends who notoriously pranked me so bad!)

I went back and forth between 4 and 5 stars. Writing, pacing, story-building, ending, twists and surprises (some of them could be foreseen but they were still amazing) are intriguingly stunning and excitingly gripping. But I hate most of the characters. The husband, the mistress, even the shady best friend!

Marin is probably my favorite even though she is pretentious, self- destructive, unpredictable and inconsistent but I didn’t care about her flaws, the mistakes she makes over and over again which makes her more human and connectable character. She can be considered mean and unfair for using her best friend and ex-lover Sal as a shield to protect herself not to feel unwanted and undesired but Sal never seemed like a great and trustworthy personality to be chosen as a future husband figure.

Her son has been kidnapped and her husband douchebag Derek is having an affair ( he should get a statue because he also cheated her when she was pregnant so I don’t know which one made me pissed off more, the cheater or accepter of his wrongdoings!) with a 24 year old art student and here’s the big blow: this girl could have involved with the people who had kidnapped her son! Did I get your attention? I think the blurb of the book gave too much information about the mystery but thankfully they hid the most delicious and mind blowing revelation!

McKenzie is the another woman ( let’s say, the other girl!) and it’s so normal to detest every particle of her. But the reason I hate the guts and have an urge to rip her eyes out, when I read her story, I couldn’t find anything concrete to feel sympathy or empathize her. She knows exactly she’s doing something so terrible but she kept doing it for years like a parasite to suck people’s blood to have a better living.

The part Marin visited McKenzie’s coffee to see her own enemy, I couldn’t decide to appraise her or scream at her face when she wanted to cut the girl’s head off, she kept calm and said nothing. ( she might be aquarius woman because an Aries woman like me throws the hot coffee at pink bleached haired homewrecker’s face and shove the cookie to her… okay you may imagine the rest!)

So Marin hardly functions after her child’s loss and committed suicide before, seeing a therapist and joining a grief club at a donut place with group of people she normally never considers to engage if it isn’t for their common grief and shared experiences. And now she is about to lose her husband, too. But will she let the other woman take him away from her? Hell, no! So take a seat, grab the book and start devouring the pages with full excitement because the book is getting so much better.

Overall even though I wanted to hire contract killers from other books (yes, my shrink told me this is literally impossible and consciously it’s really mean thing to think about) to torture viciously some of those despicable characters, I’m rounding up 4.5 stars to 5 because I had really great time when I’m reading it.

Thankfully I also have “Jar of Hearts” on my reading list now so I’m looking forward to get my hands on it, too.

Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for sharing this one of the most promising 2020 thriller’s ARC COPY with me in exchange my honest review.

Everyone has their little secrets and in this story, they can be heartbreaking.
Marin is Christmas shopping with her son when she stops to reply to a text. In that minute, her son Sebastian disappears. The footage in the market shows that he has been kidnapped. Marin and her husband, Derek, are naturally devastated so sixteen months later, their relationship is strained. This estrangement only gets worse when Marin discovers one of Derek's secrets, his affair. It plunges Marin into a deep dive into darkness where she strives to fix everything that is going wrong in her life but the consequences may be too much to bear.
I read this book in less than 2 days because I couldn't put it down. Even though I had a hunch about who the kidnapper was, my reasoning behind it was slightly off the mark. This tale takes you on a thrilling journey to find her son. It makes you feel Marin's grief and anger. The twists and turns keep you guessing as you try to figure out what is happening to these characters and how they got to this point in their lives.
This is an excellent fast paced story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Little Secrets, once unraveled, will leave you amazed.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. The opinions are my own.

When it is snowy and cold outside, superspeed readers like me can read 150 - 200+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. LOL

I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.

Overwhelmed by tragedy, a woman desperately tries to save her marriage in award-winning author Jennifer Hillier's Little Secrets, a riveting novel of psychological suspense.

All it takes to unravel a life is one little secret...

Marin had a perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They're admired in their community and are a loving family—until their world falls apart the day their son Sebastian is taken.

A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She hires a P.I. to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She's lost her son; she's not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix.

Permanently.

I really liked this book - it is a wonderfully crafted suspense novel that is a roller coaster of a ride of a read. The characters are fascinating and the story complex. Any novel that involves children and abduction would speak to any parent or person who follows bizarre abduction cases like Madeleine McCann. I am going to recommend this to several of the eight book clubs I run as stories that involve families always go over well. I need to read more Jennifer Hillier books - I googled her and there are a lot!

As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I love emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🎢 🎢 🎢🎢 🎢

I binge read this book in less then two days! Another amazing book by Jennifer Hillier! I was immediately hooked and could not put the book down. Thank you for the chance to read this ARC ! Can’t wait to buy a physical copy when it is released in April!

Terrifying thriller with seemingly unrelated twists and turns that satisfyingly all come together by the book’s end. While I had my suspicions about who kidnapped Marin’s little boy (which happens in the first pages of the story , so no spoiler there!), I was definitely caught off guard as the elements of the story unfolded.

The book captures what a fraction of the agony of not knowing where your child is and if the child is alive or dead. But as captivating as that is, the concentric circles that seem like unrelated subplots but aren’t is what make this book almost impossible to put down.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

I have read all of Jennifer’s books and she is absolutely one of the most talented writers out there. She is excellent at capturing emotions and putting them down on paper. The kidnapping of Sebastian is so unnerving. I read this book in a day and could not read fast enough. I can’t wait until it is out so I can purchase it for my collection. I can’t wait to see what Jennifer writes next.

This is the third book from Jennifer Hilier that I’ve read, and it hit close to home as a mother of young children. That made it a little hard to read at first, but it was a fast-paced book that I read over two days, with lots of curveballs that I didn’t see coming. Marin loses sight of her child for a minute at Pike’s Place Market and that’s all it takes for someone to snatch him. Slowly watching her marriage fall apart afterward, she decides to take action against her husband’s mistress and the plot unravels swiftly from there. I would recommend this book after you’ve tucked your children safely into bed, and don’t let go of little hands to answer your phone.

Thanks to all involved with me getting this early ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been anticipating this book for months and was beyond thrilled to be approved. Jar Of Hearts blew my mind - and I couldn’t wait to read her next book.

Well it did NOT disappoint one bit. This book is so crazy in a dark but great way. This topic is not for the faint of heart but I was impressed to say the least.

I binged read this in two days and did not want it to end. There are so many twists and turns and multiple story layers here. Hillier pushes the limits here and it’s brilliant writing.

I was able to pretty much figure out the scenario and who the bad guy was - but for me that took nothing away from the story.

I give this amazing read 5 (black) stars and patiently await for her next masterpiece.

Squeeeeeeeeee!!!! When I put in the request for this book, I was holding my breath for approval. I absolutely loved " Little Jar of Hearts" and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this, or the opportunity to have it as an ARC. My wish came true and I devoured this book in 6 hours. I could not put it down. I got nothing done for the day. This book was everything I have been waiting for and more. It WILL BE one of my top books for 2020. I cannot wait for the buzz to generate for this book.

Now, on to the book. Marin was at Pike Place Market over a year and a half ago when her son was taken from her and still hasn't been found. We follow the story of her and her husband Derek, whose marriage is fading from the stress of it all. The POV switches between characters and past and present. It really allows you to get to know each one and root for some you wouldn't think that you would. Enter Kenzie who is having an affair with Derek. Marin finds out and she is not going to go down fighting. The things she does and the reasons behind them will shock you. What will shock you even more is that Kenzie may know what happened to Marin's son. So where do they go from here? Will they find Sebastian? Will she have lost him forever? Is everyone you trust, who you really should? You have to read to find out. The ending will shock you.

Get this book when it comes out. Right meow.
