Abigail Bracey is a teacher and she is tasked to help identify a student that is a son of a murderer, her father's murderer. This man is a counterfeiter and is moving across the US to find his son that is in hiding. The son has no idea that his father is a murderer or a counterfeiter. Agent Dashiell Lassiter wants Abby to not take this job as he is still in love with her from years ago but he left her because her dad told him that he wasn't good enough. I liked this book. There was enough drama and twits and turns in this book to keep your interest a lot!

The Blizzard Bride is book 11 in Daughters of Mayflower series by Suzanne Dietz. There are 12 books in the series and each is written by a different author. The main characters are Abby and Dashiell. It is a Christian Historical novel taking place in Nebraska. Abby and Dashiell both work for the secret service and have been at odds with one another for years They find that they both are working on the same case and must find a way to get along. They were once in love and still have feelings for one another. There is romance murder and a lot of mystery. There actually was a blizzard January 1888 and many people died. Mostly children coming home from school because it happened so suddenly. This is not one of my favorites in the series, but it was an educational read learning about the blizzard.
Thanks to NetGalley and Suzanne Dietz and Barbour Publishing for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

“I hope we can all draw strength from God’s Word, but also through the example of those who’ve gone before us."

1800s Christian Historical set in Nebraska. You never know where one of the Mayflower books are going to take you, but you can guarantee you'll be attached to the characters quickly. In our lives, some of us are deeply hurt by others, and ostracized by no fault of our own. Forgiveness and compassion through God's love will see us through healing. Murder, mystery, friendship, understanding and love are woven throughout. Abby moves to a small town as a teacher, working for the secret service to catch the man who murdered her father. Dash is her partner, but also her old love who hurt her deeply. They make a good team as they work through misunderstandings on both sides, while forming lasting friendships in the town. Told with some humor and great lessons.

It was an interesting historical romance. I really liked Abby, but Dash was so and so - could not connect with him.

Gorgous cover - that's what drew me in. I love historical fiction and this was good but I think I should've started at the beginning of the series to fully enjoy this one. Good writing - def a series that I can see would allure. The author appeared to do research which showed in the writing.

This is a wonderful historical romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Abby and Dash. They are wonderful characters with very deep wounds from their pasts. They had difficult journeys to travel emotionally that impacted their ability to process the circumstances that they faced. I loved how Abby had to address the unforgiveness that she had been holding onto.

The plot of the story was fantastic. It was very exciting to read how the town of Wells handled the sudden blizzard that blew in. I had heard about the Schoolchildren’s Blizzard before. This story made it seem more real to me.

The Blizzard Bride is a Christian historical romance novel by author Susanne Dietze. The Blizzard Bride is book #11 of the Daughters of the Mayflower series. This novel is about the blizzard of 1888.

After reading The Blizzard Bride I had to sit and ponder how I would write my review. The Blizzard Bride started out very slow for me, almost as if I had missed a story somewhere. However, even though there are twelve books in the series each novel can stand alone. And, they are written by several different authors.

However, as the momentum picked up speed I was soon engrossed in the story. It did help to have a historical note at the back of the book where I learned more about the Secret Service. And, since so many children perished it was actually known as the Children’s Blizzard or the Schoolchildren’s Blizzard.

I am almost 40 years old and I sadly have never seen real snow. Living in Texas my whole life the most we ever get where I live, if we get anything at all, is snow flurries, sleet, and ice. So, to read about a blizzard I really have to use my imagination to picture what a blizzard of this magnitude would look like.

For me, The Blizzard Bride had a slow start, but reading about the events of this insane blizzard, as well as the growing apprehension of Abby and Dash finding their man before it was too late had me binge reading into the early hours of the morning until the end.

All of the characters are wonderful, with such warmth and heart. I have been watching old episodes of Little House on the Prairie, and the night I finished The Blizzard Bride I watched an episode that was almost identical to the blizzard in this book. My family thought I was crazy for getting so excited about an old television show but I couldn't help it! You can get more coincidental than that.

I had never heard of this historic blizzard before, but after reading The Blizzard Bride I plan on learning more. This was a wonderful edition to the Daughters of the Mayflower series, and a joy to read. Well written with plenty of intrigue, love, forgiveness, and characters that inspire, even in the cold of winter.

The Blizzard Bride is a story of love, friendship and forgiveness. Abigail Bracey is a young woman who, after facing loss, has walls around her heart. She starts teaching at a school in a small town in an effort to find the son of counterfeiter that killed her father. To her dismay she is tasked to work with Dashiel Lassiter her childhood sweetheart and the man that left her 6 years prior without warning. As she gets accustomed to life in the small town and gets to know the residents Abby has to choose whether to let them in or to keep her walls up. A surprising blizzard sweeps across the town forcing all the residents to work together to survive.
From the very first chapter I was captivated by this book. Abby and Dash were very relatable characters who, despite their flaws, I rooted for. I liked that no change happened overnight but that all the changes were gradual. I saw the importance of forgiveness and letting go of bitterness as we saw what it could unknowingly do and also the importance of friendship and Grace. I was surprised to find out that the blizzard was based on the Schoolhouse Blizzard of 1988 a tragic event that I had not heard about before reading this book and also that some of the stories in the book was based on some real life experiences of people during the Schoolhouse Blizzard also known as the Children Blizzard. This book was a thrilling ride and one I would highly recommend one reads.
Thanks to Netgalley and Barbour publishing for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Abigail Bracey arrives in Nebraska in the late 1800’s to take the job as a schoolteacher, but she’s on a mission for the goverment to discover among the students who is the son of a murderous counterfeiter, non other than her father’s assasin.
Daniel Lassiter is a Secret Agent, and he’s totally against Abby, his childhood sweetheart, taking on this dangerous task, but there’s nothing he can do to stop her. So he follows Abby to Nebraska in order to protect her, being aware that the counterfeiter is searching for his son too and the risk to her life if he does him. But Abby doesn’t want to be helped by Dashm especially after leaving her six years ago when they wanted to get married. Things get difficult when a blizzard strikes the small town. Can they both put their differences and past grievances in order to work together to survive, and to catch the criminal while protecting his son?
This was a wonderful story, full of action, dangerous adventure and sweet romance! I loved everything about it: the plot kept me engaged, the mystery of the Abby’s father murderer on their tails, the threat of the blizzard on their lives, all the while understanding what happened to their relationship and if they will ever have a future, if they survive, it made the story captivating!
I loved the characters as well: Abby was strongminded, yet kind and compassionate, and Dash was a true Hero and I fell for his love of Abby, a real love willing to sacrifice everything for her happiness. The romance was really sweet and tender. Dash has a hard time getting Abby to let down her walls but it was so much worth it when he does! Sigh!
I definitely recommend this story to Historical Romance lovers! It’s a page turner!

I received an ARC from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley, this review is my personal opinion.

We continue on the Daughters of the Mayflower collection, in this book Susanne Dietze did a great job, portraying this unexpected and violent blizzard on the 12 of January of 1888 on Nebraska, on which sadly according to the story more than two hundred people die. I like several things about this book. Sussane Dietzy did a great job while even in the middle of this hard situation she set two interesting main characters and I think all the elements in this story work really well. On Abby, we found a hurt person who needs to take a hard decision on forgiving and let go of the bitterness. And in the case of Dash, we have someone who has struggled all his life with book learning, we then find out about his dyslexia, interesting and uncommon topic in a historical novel.

In this book, we have faith, romance, family, new friendships, and a second chance, for me, the main topic is what resonates in my heart. It is hard to forgive, I think we can relate to Abby and we also can see how forgives can open our eyes to a new and beautiful chapter in life. If you like a good historical fiction novel, I recommend this and also the whole series of the Daughters of the Mayflower.

When Abigal took a teaching job in Nebraska, she was also going undercover to find out if a student is the son to the man who murdered her father. Mystery, a blizzard to live through and a little romance made this based on a true story another wonderful bride story I really enjoyed!

Another interesting and delightful historical romance! I found the setting and plot for this book particularly interesting with the secretive spy aspect and the mix of exes working together to take down the bad guy.

Dash and Abby were once engaged, but when he leaves, breaking their engagement, their lives go different ways, till they meet again in the present time.

Abby’s life has changed from a life of privilege to one of being shunned following her father’s association with a criminal and his murder that occurred after, with her mother dying later. Dash who had once been a poor stable boy now works in the Secret Service. They’re brought together to work in catching and taking down the bad guy, Fletcher Pitch, the same man behind the murder of Abby’s father.

Abby is, understandably, reluctant to work with Dash, who had left her without a word, and is bitter towards him. But they’re forced to work through their personal problems and focus on their plan. Pitch’s son is rumored to be in a small town, and he is suspected of coming after his son. Abby works undercover as a teacher, trying to discover who the son is while Dash works in a stable gaining information that way.

Abby and Dash work through their issues; Dash with his feelings of insecurity and not being good enough for Abby; and Abby has to learn to forgive which helps her be merciful to others. The story was brought together nicely with action, romance, and the overall message of God’s mercy and everlasting love.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and story fun to read. The author did her research on the Blizzard of 1888 and the way the story was written made me want to look into it more. This book is number 11 from the Daughters of the Mayflower series and can be read as a stand alone. Please note this is a Christian historical and romance book.
