Love this Jesus girl to Jesus girl book on being praying women. As I was reading this book, I felt like Sheila and I were sitting down for a cup of tea and just talking woman to woman. As usual, Sheila is very authentic and vulnerable about her life struggles with prayer, which makes her so relateable to me and others. It’s so easy to look at others and think they have it all figured out. So it was refreshing to read this book and realize Sheila and others have the same struggles in pray. Each of the 10 chapters begins with a quote and a verse, and then ends with some key reminders and a prayer.

Some of my favorite quotes are
God is not looking for perfect words or perfect people, he just wants our hearts
We can either back down in the mist of struggles or, by Gods Grace, stand up and pray through the pain.
Like mosquitoes in summer that annoy and distract, the enemy will do whatever he can to distract us from prayer

Recommend this book for all Christian women, whether you believe in prayer or not, whether you are following hard after God or are on the sidelines. Let God use this book to call you back to a connected relationship with him. And while you at it, you learn more about purpose of prayer and how your prayers can change the world.

This book offered a much needed Bible study resource for our ladies' group during the COVID-19 lockdowns. It has been a great resource as I read it again this spring. I would highly recommend this book to any woman!

Sheila Walsh has such a passion for Jesus and helping women to strengthen their relationship with their Father. Reminding and encouraging us that He meets us where we are and that our prayers don’t have to be showy and flowery. They just need to be honest.

For anyone woman who struggles with prayer, this is a must have book for your reading shelf. Sheila walks us through how to pray and how to keep on persevering through pain, when God is silent, how to pray in the power of God and even how to pray when our battle is finished and we stand victorious.
This is a book I will keep by my favorite quiet place for years to come. It has changed the way I think of prayer and how I think of my relationship with Him.

"When you have a relationship with Jesus, prayer isn't something you do; it's who you are."

I received this book from baker Books and Netgalley and I was not required to write a positive review..

This book was such an encouraging read. I have shared this with all of the women closest to me. Thank you, Sheila for writing a book that speaks to all women, the challenges that we face, and that Jesus is the the way we can overcome hardship.

Are you a praying woman? Do you want to be? Have you made a statement “I’m going to pray more!” We all have been there and done that. Sheila helps you take the awkwardness out of prayer and just start. That’s were we all need to go - just start. There are no secrets, no methods, or sacred words you Have to use for prayer to work. You just talk/pray to God it’s kinda like your talking to your best friend because you Are talking to him!!!

Praying doesn’t come easily for many people. In Praying Woman, Sheila Walsh explores 10 areas that people can focus on to have a richer prayer life. While the book focuses on women, the tips could really be used by anyone. One big tip is to use the Bible to pray, especially using the Psalms. She also discusses how to pray when it’s hard, when you don’t know what to say and when it seems God is silent.

The title of this book expresses the sentiments that so many of us Christian women face, “How do you pray when you don’t know what to say?” Through her own struggles with prayer, Sheila writes from an approachable and relatable standpoint, sharing her own struggles and realizations about prayer with her readers. Whether you feel intimidated by prayer, or just simply feel like you are praying and it’s falling on deaf ears, Sheila will change your perspective on the concept of prayer. Through her book, the author reminds us that we don’t need to get the words just right, instead we should just start talking, God is listening.

There weren’t any earth shattering secrets on how to pray when you don’t know what to say. However, the author did share several helpful tips on how to pray such as praying scripture particularly the Psalms which you can learn about in her book Praying Woman. A helpful tip for those that find their prayers repetitive or struggle with what to say.

For me, this book wasn’t big on strategies but was super helpful in breaking down the mindset shift that often hold us back from praying and ultimately praying with confidence. The biggest myth of them all, “I can’t pray”. Instead of looking for perfect words, the author reminds us to come to God just as we are, God isn’t looking for perfect people. The enemy will do whatever he can to hinder us and hold us back from praying.

There were quite a few quotes from the book that really hit home for me. I will share them with you below, and I hope you will truly reflect on them with your prayer life in mind.

“In prayer, it is better to have a heart without words than words without heart. ” John Bunyon

“Is prayer your spare tire or your steering wheel? Is it the thing that guides you through every moment in life or something you turn to in an emergency?”

“When you have a relationship with Jesus, prayer isn’t something you do; its who you are.”

If limiting beliefs are holding you back from Praying with confidence, this book is for you. This book will challenge you to think about prayer in a whole new way and show you how to become the strong woman of prayer I know that you can be.

A wonderful guide on giving you the words to pray when you are unsure what to say. Many scriptural references with life examples. If you have ever heard Sheila speak, you can hear her voice in the stories that are given. A great gift for those you love.

A well-written book, reminding us to talk with God. To have our say, but more importantly to listen to and for God.

What a great book! I love how the author writes about a topic that is very intimidating to me and helps me understand in such a simplistic way! Reading Praying for woman, I felt like I was conversing with a friend who really understands me! Prior to reading this book, I felt like I wasn’t educated or Christian enough to really pray. Sheila Walsh taught me many things in this book. One of the most important things I learned was I could just talk to Jesus! I didn’t have to speak certain words or in a special way for Jesus to hear my prayers. He just wants to hear from me! He loves everything about me! He just wants to hear from me. How exciting is that!?!
So many, just need to read this book to understand the simplicity and the power of praying!

I was so excited when I found out Sheila had written a book on prayer. God wants us to talk to Him. Even when we don’t know what to say, we can simply pray: “help”. This book has helped me to understand that prayer isn’t as difficult as it seems. I look forward to sharing it with friends.

Great book about the value of prayer. Sheila gets personal in her struggles and shows how she used prayer in her own life, both for comfort and for power.
