Alright, I admit, I watched the Netflix Christmas Knight and then I saw this book and saw that it had time travel and come one can you blame me? I just had to have it and give a try. Was it the same as the Netflix movie? Of course not, but did I still enjoy it? Of course I did. But did I want it to be more like the movie? Yeah, I admit that I did. But overall it was a cute story and I'm glad that I came across it and read it.

So, it all comes down to these matchmakers in our regular time that can time travel and they have been wanting to try to break the fifteenth century Penrose's family curse and they really think they got it now. So to go to the fifteenth century Glastonbury, England and get Colin, a Knight and bring him to a date on Christmas eve, our time with Madeline, a defense attorney. They meet for the briefest minute and makes an impact on each other but they both disappear out of each others life. A year later, when Madeline needs a date for her mothers wedding she asks the matchmaker again, but somehow the matchmake does a little more than provide a wedding date. She ends up traveling back to time and a lot more happens.

They end up meeting but to be together they have to go through a lot more that what they thought it was possible.

Overall the story was quick, but still really enjoyable, don't expect history because you are not going to get it. It's all about the romance and been Christmas time that's what you get. The ending was a little rushed but that was to be expected to. I enjoyed and recommend it for a quick and easy romantic read during this time of the year.

A different time travel story about Colin in the 15th century that has to try to break a old family curse to find love.
In order to do that he must find Madeline out of his time.
As they meet and travel back to each other time magic and romance happens.
A good time travel romance .

I truly enjoyed this book. I
I thought I would be reading "only " about a time travel romance, and I was in fact also hooked by a tale of adventure.
The story is unreal, but with a logic which makes it totally appealing. Don't be rebuked by a kind of slow start, the plot only gets better till the end. The story unravels and mix elements of King Arthur legend, but you do'nt need to be a specialist to follow the adventures of the heroes. A good book, fun to read and lovely escapism.
All opinions are mine, I received a copy from NetGalley.

This book just wasn't quite for me. I do enjoy time travel romances but I think that what didn't work for me about this one was the seamless communication between the hero and the heroine despite cultures separated by 400ish years. I also felt like some of the pacing didn't quite work for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this advanced copy.

What a fun read! I truly enjoyed this title. The matchmaker spin added a unique element to the time travel storyline, which seems to be more and more common in literature. The author does a wonderful job setting a scene, with descriptions that set me right in the middle of it all. I could hear, see, and smell (shudder) the middle ages - - it was impressive. In this read, we encounter a heroine who has given up on love, and just a heartbeat later, a hero who fears love. Naturally, the two grow closer while unraveling a curse. Ah- and not just any curse! A curse inflicted on the Penrose family by nefarious Merlin (yes, THAT Merlin) generations earlier.

My single point of frustration with the title was the ending. Ugggh, I so wanted a solid epilogue -- that last sentence could have (rather, SHOULD have - in my mind) been an entire chapter. It made the story feel unsatisfyingly incomplete.

I don't typically care for titles that have physical intimacy outside of marriage, so I was disappointed when that cropped up in this story. However, I did appreciate that the (single) incident was carefully handled and very, very vague. It was apparent that it happened, but it was entirely behind closed doors. Language isn't a concern; in fact, I only recall one British curse - nothing more. There were a few religious aspects that might unsettle some, including a corrupt priest, a witch hunt, and a tarot card reading during a visit with the Romani.

Favorite quote: "Even the most fortified castles crumble and turn to dust."

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for allowing me to enjoy an ARC of this title. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

The eBook cover was the first thing that caught my eye. It was just so pretty and slightly magical looking.

This book had good main characters. Colin was an honorable man. He was also surrounded by some people who had their own agenda's. And not necessarily ones that would benefit him. In fact, they want to destroy everything that is important to him. The main reason being greed. Prejudice and religious intimidation also comes into play.
Madeline is a courageous woman with a kind heart and also a person of honor. She cares about other people a lot and Colin sees both her courage and her caring. She loves both her mother and her father, although I disliked the way her father treated her. He just about worked her into the ground with very little free time for herself and what she valued. Business and being a success is his main focus. He also has plans on how he expects his daughter to line up. Even hand picking the man he expects her to marry. It was good to see her develop more of a backbone even if she had to step back in time to find it.
If you are looking for villains, you will have several choices. The author also throws quite the surprise towards the end when it comes to villains. But there is also some good people in the story too so don't despair.
There is a H.E.A. but that also involved a bit of a twist as well.

This book might be for some people, but it is not for me. I was excited about the time-travel/medieval/Christmas romance bonkers-ness, but was ultimately let down by the craft.

I found the writing to be stilted. There was a great deal of telling, not of showing. I didn't buy the chemistry. Characters repeatedly made choices that confused the heck out of me, seemingly out of nowhere. The pacing felt weird.

There are a lot of great elements in this book, but it just doesn't work.

I received an ARC from the publisher via netgalley for review.

Modern day divorce lawyer Madeline Murphy has given up on romance. Needing a date to her mother’s Christmas Eve wedding, she agrees to have one of the matchmakers from the Matchmaker Café set her up. Never did she dream that a simple wedding date would turn into an adventure of a lifetime…and a love affair that breaks all the rules…and maybe, just maybe, a powerful curse…

Fifteenth-century knight Sir Colin Edward Penrose is the last of the Penrose heirs. The family being cursed by the powerful wizard Merlin to have the wife of any Penrose die after giving birth, has Colin willing to give up his inheritance rather than pass the curse onto his bride. But when he meets a matchmaker who says that she has found a way to break Merlin’s Curse by finding Colin a bride out of time, Colin takes a leap of faith and prays this time, the matchmaker is correct.

Colin and Madeline begin their once upon a time on a quest to find the fabled King Arthur sword, Excalibur, and prove once and for all that their love out of time will defeat Merlin’s Curse, and allow for a Penrose heir and his love to live happily ever after…

Ever read a book and at the end immediately start reading it over? I did that with the Christmas Knight. Usually, I’m not a fan of entering into a series without reading them in order. Not the case here. Pam Binder did a wonderful job of making the reader feel as if this was the 1st rather than the 5th installment to her Matchmaker Café series. If you are looking for a holiday read or just a heartwarming sweet romance, I highly recommend you pick up a copy and prepare to fall in love! Honestly wish I could give more than 5 stars!

The summary and cover of Christmas Knight by Pam Binder caught my attention. King Arthur! Matchmaking! Time Travel! Christmas! It had all the hallmarks of a light-hearted, fun story that would be a break from other heavy reading and study. While it did serve all of the above purposes and it was an enjoyable tale, Christmas Knight was not a book that makes an impact on you. All in all, it was a couple of hours of entertainment but nothing special.
