Nora Watts will do anything to protect her young daughter who has been adopted by a trusted couple. She is a protagonist with many enemies, including the ruthless criminal, Dao, who wants payback for the bullet Nora once put in his stomach in self defense.

The stories in this three part series are so intertwined that I think the reader is better served reading them in order. No Going Back is the last book and refers back to the history of why she is on a hit list by wanted criminals and why her daughter calls another woman mother.

Nora is unusual in the risks she takes and the personal path her life journey takes her. The ending to me is ambiguous, perhaps to be viewed as only a dream or a wish.

Stepping back into the world of Nora Watts is like going down a rabbit hole of a dark and twisty crime. NO GOING BACK, the third installment of the series, is just as intricately developed as the previous books. And I have to say, Nora, as flawed as she is, makes these books for me. I do love a female protagonist.

Nora Watts has been trying to run from her past, but circumstances have changed. The daughter she gave up for adoption is in danger and Nora feels a huge sense of obligation to the teenager. What happens when past and present collide?

Having read the previous novels, I was surprised to feel a level of disconnect regarding the characters. The story itself did not immediately draw me in and the characterization certainly did not keep my attention. By the time I was finished with No Going Back, I was no more enamored with the ending than I was with the beginning. I get the sense that I will not remember reading this novel after a few weeks, as there was nothing to really grab my attention. Book 1, The Lost Ones, was head and shoulders above, in both plot and characterization, so I would not recommend No Going Back to other readers.

Disclaimer: William Morrow Paperbacks and NetGalley provided me with an Advanced Reader's Copy of No Going Back. The choice to review this book was my own.

I couldn't get into the story at all. I was bored immediately and tried to get into it, but couldn't. Not saying it's a bad book, it just wasn't the one for me. 2/5 stars

This is the first book in the series I have read, but it is so depressing. Interesting, complex characters are an asset in this series. The twisty plot kept me involved in the story.

Waited almost two years for the third book in the series and it was worth it! It can be read as a stand alone, but as usual I recommend reading from the beginning.
Nora Watts returns to Vancouver after a trip to Detroit, where she narrowly escaped being killed.
Two years ago Bonnie, the daughter Nora gave up for adoption, was kidnapped by the prosperous criminal Zhang family.
Nora was able to rescue Bonnie, but ended up making a formidable and vicious enemy in Dao, the former head of security for the Zhangs.
Reunited with her dog Whisper, Nora is trying to fin Dao before he finds her. He has put a hit out on her, and no one around her is safe.
Reluctantly she partners with her former AA sponsor, private investigator Jon Brazuca and his previous client the wealthy and unconventional Bernard Lam, travelling to Indonesia in pursuit of the enigmatic Dao.
This exciting and action packed mystery/thriller kept me intrigued and engaged. An extremely entertaining read.
Nora is a fascinating and flawed heroine and I look forward to reading more about her.
Thank you William Morrow for the e-ARC via NetGalley.

Electrifying. Each book is better than the last. If you haven't discovered this series or this author you are so missing out. Absolutely don't pass this up. You'll be sorry if you do. Happy reading!

This novel was a great read. It had a strong female character and the writing was great as well. We follow Nora Watts who has a knack for seeing what lies beneath strangers. This is also book #3 in the Nora Watts series and this does pick up to where book #2 left off but you can read it as a standalone, at least I thought. This was my first read from Sheena Kamal and I loved her writing style and the characters she created in this novel. I will definitely be reading more from Sheena Kamal.

I am a complete sucker for a flawed, incredibly strong female lead, add a puppy side kick and there's no question of my excitement about a book. This book contains both of these amazing elements, but don't let my Achilles heel sway you, this book is amazing without those two pieces. Not having read the first two books, I have able to catch up and jump right into the story. It serves well as a stand alone.
Nora Watts, our sober, recovering alcoholic is trying to hunt down the man who kidnapped her daughter a year ago and who also put a hit out on her. WHAT?!?! So much excitement! Add in a transgendered bff, cyber genius, and a gay friend/boss, and a former lover who is also a recovering alcoholic who struggles with his feelings toward you.
Sheena Kamal weaves a fast paced entertaining ride. Some of her phrasing has me literally chuckling out loud. I'm not sure how this is my first experience with your writing, but it most certainly will not be my last.

A special thank you to NetGalley, William Morrow Paperbacks, and of course, Sheena Kamal for providing me with an ARC.

No Going Back by Sheena Kamal Nora Watts #3 Reviewed March 26, 2020

I read “The Lost Ones’ which was book #1 in this series and I thought it was okay.
It appears I was in the minority as most of the reviews were good, as well as, for “It All Falls Down” book #2.
In Book #2 Nora is searching for her daughter Bonnie who was kidnapped.
This novel continues with that story.
Since the reviews have been great, I thought I’ll give Nora Watts Book #3 a go.
I did like it better than Book #1 but I still didn’t love it, which, of course, doesn’t mean it isn’t good. We all have different taste in books … thankfully we have many choices. I prefer psychological thrillers and I do like mysteries but some just don’t have the twists and turns that I love.

I do want to thank NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for granting my wish for this early release in exchange for an honest professional review. Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 14, 2020.

MANY Thanks to HarperCollins, Publishers and William Morrow for my chance to read and review this book!

Nora Watts has trouble crossing over the Canadian border from Detroit. She lives in Vancouver - yet she first needs to visit her birth daughter, Bonnie, in Toronto.

Although someone very close to Nora has been shot and critically wounded, Nora must leave him (Nate Marlowe) in Detroit. This, to make sure that Bonnie is alright.

From Vancouver, with the help of her former PI partners; Jon Brazuca and Leo Krushnik, Nora works to chase down the enemy she had prior made - DAO. He is in thick with a widespread criminal organization yet he is hellbent on "getting" Nora...

A lot of interesting characters abound in this story. Constantly on the go - there is no lag time in this read!

A plot line that places you, as a reader, right in the middle - constantly guessing...

Although this is the third in "Nora's" series, this read can be a great standalone, as well.

High praise to Sheena Kamal - Now on to parts 1 & 2!

I had never heard of this author before I got a copy of this book, but the synopsis had me hooked. I also did not realize that this is the 3rd book in the Nora Watts series. It read fine as a standalone, at least to me, they give background on the characters so it's easy to understand.

Nora Watts has a talent for seeing what lies beneath strangers’ surfaces, and for knowing what they’re working hard to keep hidden. But in the case of Bonnie, the teenage daughter Nora gave up for adoption, she has trouble truly connecting with.

Bonnie was kidnapped 2 years ago by the wealthy Zhang family. Nora rescued her, she also made a powerful enemy, Dao, a triad enforcer and former head of the Zhangs’ private security. Dao is out for revenge.

Nora forms an unlikely partnership with Bernard Lam, a playboy billionaire, and also reunites with Jon Brazuca, ex-cop turned private investigator. From Canada to southeast Asia then back to Vancouver, ro pursue Dao.

Overall I liked the book. It was very well written and interesting. I'm going to be going to check out this author's other books in this series.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Where has author Sheena Kamal and her amazing protagonist, Nora Watts been all this while? How have I missed this series? This book sounded interesting and so I requested for an ARC. Only after a little more digging did I realise this was a part of a series and I had 2 other books to read before this one.

Well, I did read the first two books before this seeing that it had garnered so many good review and love. And may I add that I loved the series!
I love the main protagonist, Nora Watts. She is such a flawed and intriguing character. The story is engaging and you quickly get pulled into the world of Nora.

I don't want to reveal too much. Just suffice it to say that I definitely will be looking out for the next book in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
