Solid 3.5
This is the first book I have read by this author and therefore the first in the series I have read.
The story centers around Hill Gamble and Kody Lawton. Kody, Hill, and his brother Aaron were friends in their youth. For Hill, it was love at first sight, but she chose his brother so he never professed his love.
Kody did all she could to help Aaron, and felt betrayed by Hill for not helping his brother when he was at his lowest. Never knowing there was more to the story.
Years later, she is a bar owner and he a Texas Ranger. When Kody’s father is killed and Hill is back in town to help investigate the murder, Kody and Hill are forced to faced their past.
I have to confess that it wasn’t until I had read 50% of the book that I finally became engaged in the story. I felt that the dual POV in which the characters were constantly having an internal dialogue, was part of the problem.
That said, aside from the mystery of who had committed the crime it was also a story about family. How the actions of those that are suppose to love a child, will affect that individual when they reach adulthood.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This real gave me book two syndrome. It felt like a filler novel that's going lead us into the next book. I did like the mystery aspect of the book even though it did kinda end predictable. Also liked the rekindled relationship between Kody and Hill.

Wow! Incredibly fast paced read with a lot of action, mystery and drama following the Lawton's in Loveless, TX. This is a stand alone with it's own HEA, but part of a series that still has a loose end or canon or two, and I can't wait to find out what.
Kody and Hill finally get their time together. So good, so sweet, so overdue and so Hot! Too bad he still gets called out of town too much. I have a feeling this will change in the near future.
All the surprises that come out surrounding the Lawton patriarch will definitely keep your interest, and flipping pages waiting for more.
The Sons of Sorrow, P. comes into play in a totally unexpected twist making me wish Shot's
book was already released.
An excellent read that pulls you in!
I received an ARC thru Netgalley and Forever. I am giving my opinions freely.

Okay, this one is a little bit complex. Hill and Aaron Gamble (brothers) and Kody Lawton were sort of the “three musketeers”. They were inseparable growing up until Aaron and Kody fell in love. Hill separated himself from the pair and moved away. Right before the wedding, Aaron’s life ended. Older brother Hill knew Aaron’s struggles but he could not help his brother until it is too late. Kody resented Hill for that – she may never forgive Hill for not trying hard enough. But why all the hatred toward Hill and what were the reasons Hill stayed away for so long?
When Hill came back home to investigate the suspicious death of Kody’s father, Kody and Hill have to face each other again whether they like it or not. (Kody is still mad.) She wants nothing to do with Hill but her life is spiraling quickly and Hill became her knight and shining armor. Their old friendship became so much more. Will they be able to mend the heartbreaking past and find a second chance at love? Personally, I feel that there is a lot going on that distracted me from a love story between Hill and Kody. It’s interesting but sometimes I just appreciate a simple love story without all the extra climaxed events in this case (the murder mystery). I also couldn’t connect with the characters as I would have liked to, especially Kody. I like Hill – a strong, charming, hot Texas Ranger. I also like the slow burn, the sizzling romance parts, and the second chance. If you like a bit of a crime mystery, family drama, suspense and a complex plot – this one is right up your alley.

Title: Unforgiven

Series :Loveless Texas

Author:Jay Crownover

Forever

Genre: Romance

Rating:4.5

Hill Gamble is a model lawman: cool and collected, with a confident swagger to boot. Too bad all that Texas charm hasn't gotten him anywhere in his personal life, especially since the only girl he ever loved has always been off-limits. But then Hill is assigned to investigate her father's mysterious death, and he's forced back to the town--and the woman--he left behind.

When Hill left Loveless, he broke Kody Lawton's already battered heart. And now that he's working on her father's case, avoiding him is impossible. She can handle Hill and her unwanted feelings--until he puts his life on the line to protect her. Suddenly, Kody realizes that Hill could be taken away from her...for good.

My thoughts

Would I recommend it ?yes

Will I read more of this series? Yes

Will I read more by this author? Yes

Hot and streamy comes to mind while your reading this one, because of the sexual tension between Hill and Kody, and even though Kody doesn't want to adment it ,her own brother Hill's best friend see it and speaks up about it, but his all for it because he knows that Hill is the best thing that can happen to his sister. Not only is the romance hot and heavy, but the the suspense is also right up there as well , it keeps you wanting to know who killed their farther and why and it brings to life more secrets that they ( the Lawton's ) didn't know, and you see more of them as a family coming together as well. And you get a more detailed background story on Kody and her bar as well as her friends..With that said I want to thank Forever as well as NetGalley for letting me read and review as well as inviting me to check it out ,and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series .

The Lawtons have been through and now after the death of"not" dear old dad, Kody is brought face to face with her past and forced to face a present day shock no one saw coming.

Hill Gamble tried to steer clear. His brother's woman was off limits, even years after his death Hill couldn't allow his feelings for Kody to come to light. But what if Kody felt the same unrequited love.

This book was filled with drama, mystery and sex. Always a great combo.

This is book two of the Loveless, Texas series and it was awesome! My curiosity about Hill and Kody was piqued in book one. I was not expecting the depth of the pain they had both suffered. It was heartbreaking to read what tore these two apart. However, watching the walls crumble had me reading all night!

Kody is the baby sister of Case and Crew Lawton. Hill has been in love with Kody. Kody has experienced pain and her heart is now frozen and Kody doesn’t want to let anyone in. But, when Hill has to come back Loveless to investigate the Kody’s father’a death, Hill and Kody are thrown together and what happens when you thrown gasoline on a 🔥? Yep, explosion...and what a beautiful explosion it is!

All the characters from book 1 are here, and a few new ones. This could probably be read as a standalone but you would miss so much context so I don’t recommend it. Based on the end of this book...,OMG!! I can’t wait for the next book! I think the series is just getting better! Do I recommend? Hell yeah! Will I keep reading? Duh, of course! I LOVE ❤️ this series!

Kody likes to tease her man and let him know hes wanted, "she smiled against my mouth and shifted her hands so she could start working open the buttons of my denim shirt. “I want you to come home to me too, Hill.” Hill loves to surprise his girl, “also never expected you to be a no -underwear kinda guy, but I’m pleasantly surprised by both. I love all the new things I’m learning about you, Hill.” I liked this book, I liked Hill.

Hill is enemy numero uno for Kody Lawson. Twice now he has been the bearer of bad news for Kody. He was her first love’s big brother notifying her of his death and now he brings news of her father’s murder. How much more can a girl take. But along the way investigating the murder it seems like her hatred is just a cover for her true feelings for Hill. Add in a bit of unresolved feelings for each other, some heavy sexual tension, a whole load of family drama, a bit of intrigue, the presence of a friendly MC and a bit of shocking twist about the murder and you won’t be able to put the story down. Kody and Hill’s story is a continuation of the Lawson sibling series and while you don’t have to read the other stories in the series since the author does a good job recapping what had happened you while get a greater enjoyment if you have . And let me just say the epilogue is epic and I can’t wait for the next story (although I won’t tell you who it’s about). 5 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.

Omg another amazing read from Jay that had me reading non-stop. I knew Kody and Hill’s story was going too be good but holy hell, between the mystery of why the events happened in the story and the ending I need the next book SOON. Kody and Hill are a couple that you want forget and you will definitely want more of. Brilliant story with of course amazing characters that everyone must read.

Forgiven ⭐️

First of all, you know I’m brutally honest in my reviews, right? That being said, here’s the thing. I kinda struggled with this one. 😔 I read it, but every couple of pages I kept checking my phone, scrolled down facebook, took a shower, found things to do besides turning another page.
I wasn’t bored, but I couldn’t connect with the characters, nor the story itself.

Even if it’s categorized as romance, i didn’t quite feel it like that. I mean, yes, the main characters were in love and it was soooo complicated, but the focus of the plot was on something else completely. And again, you know me. I need pink fairytales!

Hill Gamble had a brother, Aaron. Both of them have been friends growing up with Kody Lawton. Kody loved Hill right from the start, but felt like he was too good for her, so she ended up with his brother. Unfortunately, that said brother suffered from bi polar disorder, depression and in the end, took the easy way out. Hill checked out long before that, so he wasn’t there, which turned Kody to blame him for everything.
He’s now back in town, because Kody’s father has been murdered. This is the focus of the story I was telling you about.

On one hand, we have Hill’s and Kody’s relationship, this slow burn that needs some forgiving and a lot of work to mend fences, plus the whole struggle with Kody being Aaron’s first, and on the other hand, finding who’s responsible for Conrad’s murder.
It took me a lot of time to understand how could she possible love two brothers at the same time, why not owning her feelings and acting the way she did and how could Hill take every punch that came his way. It’s not a love triangle, no cheating, so don’t worry about that!

The mystery of the crime was thrilling. A lot of happened with twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I just wish I had a better ending to this whole mess. (view spoiler)

This was a shocking and dramatic story, but it also had some heated/sexy parts.
I don’t consider this novel being my cup of tea exactly, but I’m sure some of you will definitely enjoy it! If you love romantic-suspense, complicated relationships and a little mystery in your stories, then it one is definitely the one for you to read.
I also need to say that if Shot’s story is next, I can’t wait to read it!!!

Unforgiven is the second in the Loveless, Texas series, but it can be read as a standalone, though I highly recommend you picking Justified first, just because I enjoyed it so much more. ☺️
Unforgiven will be released February, 25th!
