Second book of a series, I had no problem reading this book as a stand alone. For me this was a new author, and Wow I certainly will be reading more. What a well written book, the storyline was amazing and I thought I had the guilty one pick out. Yet I was totally wrong, this is a thriller from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this book to those that enjoy suspense thrillers.

another brilliant book by this author, who can write a murder mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat right till the last chapter...loving this series and the characters in it

Thank you Net Galley, Helen Phfifer and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book When a girls body is found in the lake Beth Adams the Forensic Pathologist is called to the scene. She has a bad feeling about this death even though there is no forensic evidence to prove foul play. What ensues is an exciting story with plenty of twists. I found Beth, Josh and the other characters to be well developed and likeable. I instantly felt for Beth and wanted her to recover from her trauma. The relationship in the book was nice and helped the story along without becoming an unnecessary addition. The plot evolves quickly and I didn’t want to put it down till it was over. I liked that the characters and the plot were believable and not far fetched superheroes that some authors try to create. I did not read the first book in this series and it isn’t necessary. This reads well as a stand-alone book, but I will be reading the first one. The Girls in The Lake was suspenseful and riveting, you will want time to read it in one sitting. .

When two young woman are pulled from the lake with no signs of foul play, everyone thinks it is just an unhappy coincidence. but forensic pathologist Beth Adams doesn't think so. she's not one to believe in coincidence, especially when it comes to corpses. Beth undertakes an investigation of her own, much to the irritation of her boyfriend and policeman, Josh. But Josh also trusts Beth's intuition and it turns out that she was right - this is murder, not bad luck. Skillfully written and plotted, THE GIRLS IN THE LAKE is a good mystery that will keep the reader guessing until the very end. And Phifer also provides realistic characters with interesting relationships, which adds depth to the story. this is my first Beth Adams mystery but it so intrigued me that I went back and bough the first one and I can't wait to read the third.

This is book 2 in the series and although it can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading them in order. I adore Beth Adams and this series is such a great read. I really enjoy getting to read the forensic pathology side as well as the police procedural side.

I was hooked from the beginning and it kept me engaged until the very last page. I’ve only recently discovered Helen Phifer but I love her writing style. It’s an easy read without compromising on the plot or characters. There are so many loveable characters that add to the storyline and I look forward to reading more of Beth Adams story.

Yet again Helen has delivered another brilliant novel. I read this in 2 sittings and as always think that I know who has done the dastardly deed but as always Helen throws us with red herrings and I am totally wrong. Love how she incorporates the medical side into the books along the usual policey bits. Keep up the good work Helen and heres looking forward to the next :)

Forensic pathologist, Beth Adams, is back on the case. This time of a young lady found to have drowned next to a party boat. A second body turns up and it would seem there is more to the owner of the party boat than they first thought.

Beth and Josh are now a couple but not everything is rosy at home and Beth is torn between what her head and her heart wants.

Yet another cracking read from Helen. The main characters are so likeable and I hope this series keeps going and going. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Dr Beth Adams one of the pathologists for the Lake District attends a girl who has drowned in Lake Windermere on a cold autumn day after completing the autopsy there is only accidental death conclusion but she feels that something is wrong as who would go swimming in the lake on such a cold day. A few days later another body of a dead girl is found but this one has been in the water for some time is this just a coincidence or is there more to find.
The second book in the Beth Adams series by Helen Phifer which keeps you turning the pages until you reach the conclusion. I totally enjoyed this book which takes you through Beth Adams professional and personal life. Definitely to be recommended

This second book in the series is even better than the first. Girls are turning up drowned and the case is full of twists. Beth's character is developing nicely and I find myself more and more invested in her. I didn't like Josh much this go around and I hope the next book will redeem his character more since I really liked him in the first story. The plot was full of tension and several times I caught myself holding my breath. I enjoyed the wrap up and it left me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book.

This is a fabulous follow up to book one in the series and starts with a body of a young girl being pulled from Lake Windermere all seems like a tragic accident but as more deaths follow we have an intriguing and compulsive mystery.
We are back with Beth Adams who is the forensic pathologist and she really is a brilliant character so well written and likeable. While she struggles with trying to find some link with the deaths and her suspicions that their is a lot more going on she also is finding her personal life difficult and this really does add to the enjoyment of the read.
Helen Phifer sure knows how to to write a good story both keeping up the pressure and drawing you in to the lives of the characters and I look forward to the next instalment in this excellent series.

Another outstanding case for Dr Beth Adams set in the lake district, just as good if not better than the first and after reading this im now ready for number 3

Setting is Lake Windermere where a young girl's naked body is found.
Pathologist Beth Adams and DS Josh Walker investigate what looks to be an accident, but Dr. Adams is not so sure.
This is Book 2 (Beth Adams). Author Helen Phifer does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story until the end. The characters are likable and great. I have not read Book 1, but look forward to reading more of her great work.

Can she solve this mystery while she’s plagued with ghosts of her own? Phifer’s writing style can be a bit choppy for me, but the plot and characters more than make up for this small flaw

Great, believable characters that you cared and were interested in.
Set in the Lake District, the story focuses on Dr Beth Adams and DS Josh Walker who are investigating the discovery of a naked young girl's body found in Lake Windermere. At first it looks accidental but something feels a bit off to Beth and when another body is found Beth and Josh become more suspicious
Helen Phifer is an engaging writer and draws you into the story. It is fast paced and full of intrigue.
A very enjoyable read with depth and undertones of past relationships seeping into the pages.
