This did not do it for me. I can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into making the characters feel authentic and not like stereotypes, but it kind of missed the mark. And in my opinion that made it a little difficult (and frustrating) to read.

Well written with three dimensional characters that will stay with you long after the last page. Shane will steal your heart and have you cheering for him as he struggles to fix his life. Definitely enjoyable. Happy reading!

Bury your horses by Dan Dowhal is one of the strangest - but most fun! - books I've read in a long time. The novel is set on a rattlesnake ranch in New Mexico and the vipers become a metaphor that cleverly wind through descriptions and character interactions.

I don't want to give too much away on this one, but I can promise you'll delight in characters that feel very real (I didn't always agree with former NHL player Shane Bronkovsky, but I enjoyed him!) Dowhal also shines a light on some important issues: borders/immigration and poverty (and its effects on children) among them.
