If you’re looking for your next pacey, entertaining and just downright fun thriller then look no further friends because NBD is it! I haven’t seen much about this one in the book world, which is a shame because in a sea of boring, predictable thrillers that all feel and sound the same this one is a standout. Huge thanks to my girl Chelsea @suspensethrill for putting this one on my radar, it was just the book I needed to restore my faith in thrillers once again!

I’m gonna keep this fairly short because A, it’s a thriller and the less you know the better, and B it went in several unexpected directions that surprised me and I want you to be surprised too! You may need to suspend disbelief a few times, but guys when a thriller is as fun and twisty as this one was, who minds letting things go a bit? Not me! It’s worth it, especially if you like a dark and addictive read

I saved this book to read on vacation. It did not disappoint. I was raised to help someone who was in trouble. Cassie, a veterinarian, was on her way home one night. She stopped to help someone on the side of the road. Thus starts this fast-paced novel and the consequences of stopping to help someone. The author delivers just enough hints to keep the reader reading. Fast paced! Look forward to reading another Heather Chavez novel. Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This book was crazy good! The action literally starts on the first page and doesn't let up until the last one. There are a ton of twists and turns, most of which I didn't see coming. I am highly impressed with this thriller and definitely recommend it to both old and new fans of the genre. 4 stars!

Cassie is driving home one night and sees a man beating on a young woman by the side of the road. She makes the decision to get out of her car to stop the man from killing the woman. He pulls away but has an ominous threat for her .... “Let her die, and I’ll let you live.”

The next night.. which is Halloween night... Cassie's husband takes their two kids trick-or-treating. Hours later and they haven't returned. Cassie takes off and finds her young daughter in the care of two women that she doesn't know. But where did her husband go? Reaching home, she finds that her husband's car is gone. Looking at the surveillance tape, she sees a man opening the car door and leaving.

The man she sees is the man who was assaulting the woman by the side of the road.

And then the text messages start ... but she doesn't believe they are from her husband. Someone has been in her house ... the man or someone else? What do they want? And most importantly ... where is her husband?

This debut novel is full of suspense and surprises. The plot is nicely paced and this begs the question ..how far would you go to protect your family? The characters are deftly drawn and quite memorable.

Many thanks to the author / HarperCollins Publishers / William Morrow / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This was a fast paced suspense that was moving along quite nicely until the ending where it became way too convoluted to be believed. Unfortunately, while I sped through the first 75%, the ending left me a bit disappointed.

This book is my favorite of the year. I was gripped from the first page until the last. I am not usually a thriller writer but Chavez' s piece left me breathless. I will recommend this to my book club and my cousins who read thrillers on vacation. An excellent pick for the cold winter months.

Wow! Such a great thriller! After reading the blurb for this book, I couldn't wait to dive in. This one had so many incredible twists and turns! I really enjoyed the characters and even though there were a lot, it was easy to keep up with.

This story was so well plotted that I couldn't figure out what was going to happen next. The author did an exceptional job keeping me on my toes.

What's even surprising was learning this was Heather Chavez's debut novel! Holy cow! I can't wait to read what she writes next!

This book is a wild ride! I enjoyed that the action started from the very beginning, and it definitely got me turning the pages.

Even though it was full of action, I feel like SO MUCH happened. I felt like a week had gone by, but that wasn’t the case at all. It definitely was action packed, but I think it could have been a bit more condensed.

The ending was something that I wasn’t expecting at all, and I was totally surprised by it. I like to try and guess what’s going to happen, and I was way off the mark. Definitely a more original ending, for sure.

This is a hard one to review without giving too much away, so I’m going to keep it short. I did like that it was pretty fast paced and even when the plot seemed to drag a bit, the pace kept me reading. Small reveals came quickly and frequently and that also helped move the story along. That’s kind of the end of the good things I can say about No Bad Deed, though. Cassie was a confusing character. Nothing she did really made that much sense to me. One of my biggest pet peeves in this type of book is when the main character decides to investigate themselves and everything they do just makes them look guilty. There was a lot of that in this story and I found it frustrating. I also think the actual development of the mystery was kind of ridiculous. By the time we get to the reveal of who is behind everything and why, the only reaction I had was a hard eye roll. It was a promising premise, but I found the ending really underwhelming.

Overall Rating (out of 5): 2 Stars

Wow this book had me from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. It took me less than 2 days to read and for a debut this was amazing. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Heather Chavez. Driving along the road only to witness a crime in progress. You get out to the help, save a life only to be targeted. This book will take you on a journey of determination and bravery. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and provide my honest review.

One night while driving home, Cassie Larkin, a dedicated veterinarian, spots a man attacking a woman and her immediate reaction is to intervene. The attacker threatens her for intervening before he flees the scene. When Cassie’s husband goes missing the next evening, she has no idea what is about to happen and this is where the story just went downhill. The husband abandons his daughter to a stranger but Cassie starts questioning her marriage?!. It kept me guessing but it was slow for the first 80% of the book. Cassie made some questionable and unbelievable moves. The reveal and ending were underwhelming. Thank you to NetGalley, Author and Publishers for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cassie Larkin is on her way home from work on a rainy night when she sees a woman being attacked on the side of the road. Having stood by and watched harm come to a woman in a similar way in her past, Cassie decides to do something this time. In her effort to help, Cassie leaves her car with her keys and pocketbook inside and, somewhat accidentally, heads down to the woman and her attacker. When the attacker flees, he gets away in Cassie's car. Now he knows her name, her address, her family, and he has access to their home. Cassie's split-second decision to help may actually harm her and her family in ways she never imagined. This debut, which did not at all read like a debut, was a fast-paced thriller that had me on the edge of my seat, flipping pages on a race to the end. Can't wait to see what else this author has up her sleeve! Thank you to Netgalley, William Morrow & the author for my early copy.

In No Bad Deed, Cassie Larkin discovers a man and a woman fighting on the side of the road. Cassie intervenes to help save the woman, despite the mans threat to let the stranger die, or she will be the one to die. Her life takes a dangerous downward spiral from this moment on.

No Bad Deed is the debut novel by Heather Chavez. It was an action filled thriller that was full of suspense. The story pretty much takes off on page one and keeps the reader entertained until the end. I enjoyed the authors creativity with the ending and felt it was very strong.

Unfortunately, I had a hard time keeping track of all the side characters. I also didn’t really care for the main character or feel connected to her.

Pros: Decent story, fast-paced, mostly likable characters.

Cons: After about 1/2 way through the book, I didn't care anymore.

I hate being that person that doesn't like a book and, to be clear, I didn't NOT like this one. But it just wasn't the book for me.

Heather Chavez’s debut novel No Bad Deed is a fast paced thriller in the vein of Harlan Coben that you will not want to put down. No Bad Deed grabbed me from the very first chapter and kept me reading late into the night.

When Cassie saves a stranger from a brutal attack she has no idea how that one courageous act will irrevocably change her life. The attacker’s words loom large in Cassie’s mind “let her die and I’ll let you live” and when her husband goes missing the very next day she cannot help but think the two events are connected l. The attacker, who stole her car and her wallet, knows her name and exactly where she lives, could it be that he got to her husband? Or was her husbands timing for leaving her and their kids coincidental? Now Cassie is in a race against time to save her husband and her children and nothing, absolutely nothing, will stand in her way.

No Bad Deed will keep you guessing from the very start. I don’t think that this is the kind of novel that you can easily “figure out”, and even when the pieces finally do begin to come together, they just leave you with more questions until the action packed conclusion.

Cassie Larkin is driving home from her veterinary office when she sees a man and woman fighting on the side of the road. She calls 911, and then gets out of her minivan and chases after the man, trying to help the victim. When Cassie physically tries to stop him, he turns on her and threatens “Let her die, and I’ll let you live.” Cassie can't let her die and he escapes in Cassie's minivan. Now he has her name, address, the names of her husband and children, all of her personal information. The next day is Halloween, and Cassie's husband disappears while trick-or-treating with their six-year-old daughter. Are these disturbing events a coincidence or the beginning of a horrifying nightmare?
I loved this book. It was one of those that I couldn't put down because I needed to keep going to find out what happened next. It was a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Definitely a must read for all suspense lovers.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller that you won’t want to put down: this is it.

From the very beginning, it hooks you, and you’re in tow for a wild ride filled with bread crumbs, family dynamics, and high-speed chases across town.

While I didn’t feel the characters were particularly memorable (one of the reasons for my mixed feelings), I did think most of them felt real. I was rooting for Cassie & her family the whole time, and I felt her emotions vividly.

It was well-written (if a little far-etched). And it definitely keeps you guessing. Highly entertaining!

What can I say about this book? I was so engrossed in the story, I didn't want to work and read it during every break I had. I stayed up too late reading when I should have been sleeping. I also read two books at once sometimes, but I dropped the other one after the first few pages.

I absolutely love when an author writes a psychological so twisty that all my preconceived ideas in the beginning are thrown out the window later in the book. Heather Chavez appears to be a master at this. Everything I thought I knew, based on facts, was wrong. WOW! And the character development was so well done I felt as if I knew these people personally and was living in their story. Wow again!

I feel this is definitely a five star book.
