would love to love this novel more. There are strong reasons to do so - the main male character suffers from serious health issue impacting his movement abilities and the main female character is a single mom with strong gift of intuition and empathy (a great trait worth of complex elaboration). These issues are a valuable resource for a strong psychological characterization and I must admit that the authoress tries to portray their life experiences. But I think she is also very heavy-handed with the romance (nothing inappropriate, but there are many passages dedicated to how hot and attractive the characters are to each other. I understand that the sparks must be present for the interest to start, yet the physical attractiveness is overplayed in my opinion. The characters are not teenagers anymore and any single mom worth her salt would look for different traits to involve a guy with her child). The gang wars and secret services issue are less nuanced and based on reality than they should be, too.
On the other hand - Pecca’s sister Claudia is a total badass and I hope for her to have her own book!

I started this book and it seemed it would have a lot more potential than the previous book. However the oasis kindle continued to restart on the book and Wouldn’t save the page I was on.

The book did start off well. I was every interested to see where pecca and maceo story would go along with seeing if she would fall in love with her patient and help him heal. But with the cost of a kindle copy on Amazon, I think I’ll wait to finish it.

Another great book from Walters. I think my absolute favorite part was the meet cute! It was so funny and kept popping up throughout the book.

I also really liked all of the guys at the Mansion in this book. It was so fun the brotherhood they had. Despite their differences they were a really fun group.

The romance trope in this book wasn't one of my favorites (nurse/patient). It wasn't at all inappropriate but didn't engage me as much as some do. But that aside it was well written and had some fun moments.

I really adored the relationship between Colton and Maceo. I loved how they taught each other and helped each other.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Silent Shadows by Natalie Walters is book 3 in the Harbored Secrets series. It may be the last book in the series, but it was my favorite of the series hands down. This is Pecca's story, a story of past mistakes and running from them. I loved the dynamics between her and potential love interests in her life. Soon, danger is around every bend and her only focus is keeping her young son safe. The twists in this book are phenomenal. I won't give away any spoilers but I did not see the ending happening quite like it did. What a surprise! I highly recommend this book and I think readers would enjoy it more if they read the entire series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This is book three in the Harbored Secrets series, I do feel it is a stand alone book, You probably miss some history in a few sub characters but do not need to read them to understand this one. However you will miss some good reads.
I enjoyed the mystery, suspense, comedy and romance in this book. Pecca Gallegos is a nurse in a rehab center for wounded military. She finds herself running from her past. Army veteran Colton Crawford is not really wanting to be here but needs some healing. When Pecca crashed into him, neither one expect what the future will hold. Colton and Pecca have a relationship full of sparks and hardships. I loved the town and the relationships between the men in the Home for Heroes.

A sweet well paced story that kind of hits you everywhere...a little bit of mystery, a few twists, a bit of humor, a dash of romance, and more. A well written and good flowing story that has it all.

Silent Shadows is the third and final book of the Harbored Secrets by Natalie Walters. Even though it would make a good read by itself I would definitely read all three books as one continuous story. The books are all set in the tiny town of Walton Georgia and if you read all three books you'll enjoy getting to know the people in this small town at a deeper level.

In this small town you'll find that everyone knows everyone, but there are people who live there that have some big secrets. In Silent Shadows Pecca Gallegos has just moved to the town of Walton to protect her son and escape the dangerous lifestyle that once defined her. When a series of strange circumstances evolve into threats Pecca finds herself confiding in an unlikely ally - her stubborn patient.

Army veteran Colton Crawford is desperate to recover from the un-diagnosed disorder that is ruining his life, and his instincts are on high alert when threats against his nurse and her son force him to take action. But Colton's involvement only ramps up the danger when he uncovers a family secret revealing that whoever is after Pecca is closer and more deadly than they realized.

When I first began this series, it was the beginning of social distancing and I really struggled with the first book. I had a hard time focusing and found myself reading the same pages over and over because my mind was all over the place. As the days have turned into weeks I have found that reading is a great escape from reality and I am so glad I didn't give up on this series. This final book ended with a bang. Probably my favorite out of the three.

If you are a fan of Christian suspense this would be a great book for you. With so much time on our hands right now, what better time than to start a new series. I think you'll really enjoy this one!

***Thanks to Revell Reads for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Silent Shadows was the best ending to this series. I loved Pecca's story and the mother/son aspect in the book.

Colton was an amazing character and seeing his relationship progress with Pecca was sweet. He was also a great friend to Maceo (Pecca's son).

The suspense aspect was there, although not a favorite of mine. I just didn't connect to it, but the "danger" definitely made the story a quick read. I did guess who the "villain" was, though, which was fun. :)

All in all, Silent Shadows had wonderful characters and a good story. I recommend this series.

I enjoyed this book. I have read every book in this series and enjoyed each one. It was nice to get to know Pecca and Maceo in this story and visit with Lane and Charlie again.

I felt the first seventy percent of this book was heavy on romance more than suspense. There were a few tense moments earlier but I not a ton, it wasn’t as much of a page turner for me until that 70% mark and then we were off to the races.

I had a feeling I knew who Juan was from the beginning and I was correct. But there was another big surprise that I didn’t see coming and I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am really hoping Pecca’s sister, Claudia, gets her own book because I really liked meeting her and I have a feeling with her there would never be a dull moment. But I have no idea if that is Natalie’s plans for her next series???

Overall a good read.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley.com. All opinions are my own.

This book, and series for that matter is the perfect example of what romantic suspense should be! I have loved all three books and this one was just as good as the first two. I have loved the small town setting and all of the characters have been well developed and easy to root for. The story was fast paced and super readable. I highly recommend this book and series!

Silent Shadows is another great read by Natalie Walters. If you’re looking for true to life characters and spine tingling suspense this is the book for you.

I love the healing thread that runs through the story. Pecca thinks she’s left her connection to South Side Barrio behind. For the sake of her son, she’s relocated and cut ties with her old life.

Colton is dealing with the physical effects of his time in the military. A warrior with a movement disorder that incapacitates him, he feels less than the man he should be.

When he meets Maceo, Pecca’s son who has a prosthetic leg, he has an instant connection with the boy’s frustration at his limitations, and a common bond over their love of football.

As danger lurks in the shadows can these three survive long enough to find the healing they each need, the power to overcome their insecurities, and the faith to move forward?

Grab this book. I highly recommend it.

I was given a copy of this book courtesy of Baker Publishing Group through Interviews and Reviews. This is my honest review.

Natalie Walters hasn't been around for very long, but each book she writes gets better. Silent Shadows is book 3 in her Harbored Secrets Series. This book is a good stand alone if you haven't read the first two.

In Silent Shadows, Pecca Gallegos is pretty much focused on her son and her job as a nurse. She loves the veterans that she helps and they love her. So when veteran Colton Crawford comes to the rehabilitation center for help with a movement disorder, Pecca intends to treat him as one of the guys. But this veteran is young and handsome. Good luck with that Pecca!

Mixed into the plot is a person from Pecca's past comes to make trouble. Colton wants to protect her, but he feels weak. Both must decide if they want to stand together or die apart.

I recommend Silent Shadows for anyone who likes mystery and intrigue.

Another engaging mystery written by an up and coming author. I love this series and felt this installment was just as good as the previous books. Can;t wait for the next one!!

My rating: 3 stars! This novel was pretty vanilla for me! It was nice, easy read.. I didn't realize it was a Christian novel until the last minute of requesting it and I thought I would give it a try. I am not religious, so this was pretty tame for me! I probably read a good 2/3 of the book before I started skimming through the rest to find out the outcome of the story! I can see how this might appeal to some readers . .. just not me!

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest and unbiased view of this novel!

Natalie Walters has become one of my new favorite Christian Authors to read. I cant believe this book ends the triology. Not sure what i will do without these characters! I will say my one dislike if you will was how quickly Pecca trusted him. For running snd being in fear i felt like it wasnt the most realistic how fast she was all sure you can protect me person i just met!

This was a perfect book to read during the pandemic because it was one I could not put down. I loved Pecca and Colton. These were great characters. Both of these characters had some problems that they were working out and end up helping each other to work them out. This story has so many twists and turns. I loved the suspense and there was just a bit of romance to make it interesting. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Nothing in a small town is as it seems...

Oh yeah!!! Talk about a hum-dinger of a conclusion to a perfectly chilling romantic suspense series! Seriously, when a novel starts out with the first line “Pecca Gallegos never thought she'd be turning down a marriage proposal – much less four of them.” one wouldn't normally expect dangerous secrets from the past and a hail of bullets to ensue, but, this is a Natalie Walters book and it's romantic suspense.

Silent Shadows was a pretty good book right from the dramatically creepy purple cover to the last exciting page. There were so many twists and turns I could hardly keep up and I totally did not guess the reason behind the rising threats toward Pecca and her son Maceo.

With each of the novels in the Harbored Secrets series the author introduces flawed characters facing challenges that as Christians we often try to pretend only happen to non-believers. Silent Shadows was no exception. The characters have to deal with a number of emotional and physical issues that would be daunting to any person.

Natalie Walters has a pretty good story with this book and I have to admit that I'm sorry to say goodbye to everyone in Walton, Georgia. Who knew a sleepy small Southern town could be so dangerous... This may be the last book in the Harbored Secrets series but I certainly hope to see more from this author in the future.

I recently received a copy of a book from Revell Reads/Baker Publishing Group in exchange for my honest review. So let me tell you about that book! The book is called Silent Shadows by Natalie Walters. This is apparently the third and final book in a series called Harbored Secrets that are all set in the town of Walton, Georgia. I have not read either of the previous books, and while maybe there may be a little back story of other characters that I am missing, I didn’t feel lost at all, so this can definitely be read as a standalone.

Here is the book’s official description:

Pecca Gallegos moved to the tiny town of Walton, Georgia, to protect her son and escape the dangerous lifestyle that once defined her. When a series of strange circumstances evolve into threats, Pecca finds herself confiding in an unlikely ally–her stubborn patient.

Army veteran Colton Crawford is desperate to recover from the undiagnosed disorder that is ruining his life, and his instincts are on high alert when threats against his nurse and her son force him to take action. But Colton’s involvement only ramps up the danger when he uncovers a family secret revealing that whoever is after Pecca is closer–and more deadly– than they realized.

With this suspenseful new story, Natalie Walters welcomes you once more to Walton, Georgia, where everyone knows your name–but no one knows your secret.

My Thoughts:

First off, I definitely loved the characters that were introduced at the Home for Heroes, where the character of Pecca works as a rehabilitation nurse for military veterans. I feel like there could be another series of books about their stories.

I will admit, I was a little thrown off while reading this. Revell books tend to be a little more conservative where romance is concerned, and while there wasn’t anything outright inappropriate in this book, the intensity of the attraction between Colton and Pecca made me step back for a moment and think, “Wait, am I reading that Revell book I was supposed to review?” But like I said, it’s nothing bad. I just wasn’t expecting it.

To offset the romance, there are also death threats, gangs, all sorts of action. And there is also the sweet relationship that develops between Colton and Pecca’s son Maceo.

There were definitely some unexpected twists and turns, but I don’t like to give too much of the plot in my reviews, because I’m trying to tell you to read the book, and if I told you everything that happened, you wouldn’t need to read it!

I definitely think you should check this book out and I just went and downloaded the first book in the series myself!
