I gave it nine chapters but am still so utterly bored. There’s just nothing special about this book and what I’ve seen in other reviews, it doesn’t get any better..

as books with content of sexual abuse are triggering to me personally due to my lived experiences, this was one i unfortunately had to DNF

Good story with a definite surprise ending. I normally don’t like switching between characters, but it worked really well in this book and I actually looked forward to hearing the other perspectives

How far would someone go to replace you? A new mother on maternity leave grows increasingly paranoid about her ambitious young temp in this Hitchcockian debut from the fashion editor at The Times (UK) .

Margot is the object of every woman's envy: as an editor at Haute, she has a glamorous job, a beautiful new baby girl, a seemingly perfect life. But when Margot's lifelong friend, Winnie, loses her own newborn boy, their shared dream of pushing strollers together turns to ash. And then there is the matter of Margot's maternity temp: bright, plucky, ambitious Maggie--the young woman Margot chose, but who now seems to be trying to eclipse her in every possible way.

When a cyber-stalker emerges, mocking Margot's façade of perfection and threatening to expose a dark secret she's spent years repressing, Margot feels attacked from all sides. Soon, the innocent preoccupations of motherhood spiral quickly--and perhaps lethally--into a frightening and irretrievable paranoia.

The New Girl is whiplash-paced, and a harrowing look into the profound sense of insecurity that prowls deep in the psyches of women everywhere.

Review: This was an unforgettable book. The suspense, the intrigue, it was all welcoming and yet vastly creepy. A page-turner.

Refreshingly original! Capturing the complex feelings which were realistic when a friendship ends, navigating new motherhood and inviting the reader into the fashion world all blend together to make one terrific read! I am already searching for more titles from this author!

The devil wears Prada meets single white female indeed! I need a strong ending to truly enjoy a thriller and this provided that!

I just couldn't finish this book. The one page prologue set up a mystery and I was looking forward to seeing who was dead in a pool of blood. Unfortunately, after reading only one third of the book I was tired of reading about clothes & shoes. Both women (both named Maggie!) were just tiresome in their angst and self-indulgence. I'm sure story will pick up, but at 30%, I just didn't care any more. Maybe fans of Sex & the City will enjoy this, but it's just not for me.

I had higher hopes for this book. It was alright, but nothing really jumped out at me that was special about this storyline.

I loved the premise but the characters fell pretty flat. It felt like a ton of complaining with comparatively little action. I liked that there were two women in the fashion industry, but I hated that there was another book that pit women against each other. On the plus side, the writing was pretty good!

I really enjoyed The New Girl, IT is is one of my favorite thrillers. I had a hard time putting it down, especially the final chapter. The book was more than the fashion world, however. The author discusses deeper themes, such as the struggle to be a new parent (both for moms and dads). There is also the theme of friendship running through the story, with both new and old friendships and how these friendships can strain or mature over time. Overall it was a great read.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis of this book sounded intriguing to me so I requested a copy to read.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during that 2nd attempt, I have only managed to make it halfway through so I'd rather stop here and state that this book just wasn't for me.

I love a great book that focuses on strong female leads and this book was it. The story was strong and the writing was really good. No detail left unturned. It was a page turner from start to finish.

This book reminded me a lot of Samantha Bailey's "Woman on the Edge" -- new mom with post-partum depression who thinks she's being stalked. There's an interesting twist here, with a mom whose baby died shortly after birth seeming to be the villain. It's a bold choice, and despite the multiple points of view, I'm not sure it worked. The tension and pacing is great, but the ending is a little unbelievable.

Great book! Couldn’t wait to read it, and it didn’t disappoint! Grabbed my attention within the first two chapters, and then I didn’t want to put it down. Excellent character development - I think that every reader will find a character to whom they relate. I enjoy books where there is character development, and then also a surprise, and this book provided both! Looking forward to reading more from this author!

This contemporary psychological drama was quite enjoyable. The author easily depicted the London location, fashion magazine occupation and new parent vibes to further the storyline about trust, friendship, love, parenthood, grief, and how all those things can be twisted inside your head. The switching back and forth by chapter between the characters and not laying everything out right away added to the feeling of confusion and uncertainty the characters were exhibiting. This is a page turner that kept me up at night reading and kept me from doing what I should gave been doing instead. Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to read #thenewgirl ahead of publication.

I read this book awhile ago and I remember not liking it very much. According to my Goodreads, I even shelved the novel because it wasn't my cup of tea.

I thought that this was a refreshing read. With all of the (vaguely or seriously) psychological mysteries focused on women coming out, I often find that the plot and characters can get repetitive. This, however, was an interesting exploration of female friendship, motherhood, and life for working mothers. And I thought the mystery aspect was good as well!

The author does a great job of taking a fresh off maternity leave mother and turning her into a frenzied paranoid shell of who she used to be.

Margot has worked hard to get to where she is. Going on maternity leave was supposed to be a walk in the park. Sure she would have some catching up to do, but everything will be as it was in no time. What ensues is not what Margot had planned for. Not even what she anticipated.

When a threat after threat keeps appearing Margot can't help but think she knows who's behind everything. While Margot's life seems to be spiraling out of control Maggie's seems to be taking off.

An intriguing and delicious read.

I enjoyed this thriller very much. An ordinary life turned into one of paranoia and suspense new things usual mean excitement, not fear.
