It feels like just yesterday I had cracked open the first book in the Millennium's Rule series. After a three-year hiatus waiting for the fourth and final book, it was at first hard to re-enter the unusual setting of a million worlds.
After a while, the characters have become familiar again, and the story picks up speed to face an unexpected new arch villain and seemingly unsurmountable threats. I was saddened to come to the end of this book for it marked an end to an epic adventure and characters I will miss.

Rielle, Tyen, Qall and Baluka are all called upon to participate in this closing of a an amazing story. The baddy is more ruthless and the devastation mounts. Once again it is up to Tyen and Rielle to figure a way to save the worlds. Trudi Canavan writes beautifully with character that are deep and complex.
Unfortunately, character development and background remained a little flat. A more thorough interaction with Rielle and Tyen might have put the icing on the cake and depth into the characters. That little criticism aside, is a well-fitting end to the series.
