Toni Yuly is an auto but author for me. This one continues with great art, and simple language for the youngest readers.

This is a very simple picture book but very enjoyable for children. The pictures are so bright and eye catching. The story is simple but flows well and is relatable to children.

This is a great book to add to "Back to School" curriculum. I find sometimes the kids are nervous to be back at school. The book had some great activies that the children did that could also be done in the classroom. My classroom enjoyed reading and then doing the actitivity. The artwork in this book is also fantastic. I also enjoy seeing unique art styles for each new illustrator that I am introduced to. I absolutely adore this book!

Older sister Mona is playing in the yard with younger brother Milo, telling him she'll be going back to school the next day. "What do you do at school?" he asks, and as she explains, they act out what she tells him in their play. Riding in the school bus becomes Mona pulling Milo in a wagon; learning about science becomes watching the different insects in the bushes and plants. "School sounds fun!" he says, and she responds "It is, and so is playing with you." The story shows that learning can be fun, and that play can be educational; the spare text will encourage littles to read on their own, and the lovely, collage-style art has fun little details to look for. Perfect for an older sibling to share with a younger sibling!

It's the day before the first day of school and older sister Mona is excited to be going back, while younger brother Milo wants to know just what she does there. Playing in the backyard, their little red wagon becomes a pretend school bus as Mona describes the things she does in school, and Milo uses nature to imagine doing the same things. He write his names by connecting flowers on the fence when she says in school, they practice reading and writing. Milo counts birds to simulate math, and science becomes the plants and insects in the yard. They practice music, and sitting quietly and listening carefully, then running around and being noisy with friends. In the end, Milo says school sounds like fun, and Mona tells him that playing school with him is fun, too. This is a sweet story about what a younger child can expect when they finally begin school. It isn't about anxiety or jitters, but a straightforward description of Mona's school day, which is pretty typical. Older and younger siblings often play school based on experience of one of them and is a really common form of pretend play. My Kiddo, an only child, played school with her dolls. This would be a great book to incorporate into that kind of playing, so when the older sibling heads off to that first day, the younger one can continue playing. The illustrations, created with ink, pencil, pastel, cut and torn paper and digitally collaged, are simple, bright and colorful, and mainly in a palette of primary colors. This will probably appeal to the preschool set, but kindergarteners will benefit from it, too.

This is a simple, cute book about two children discussing what you do in school. The text does not come right out and say it but one can assume it is an older sibling telling a younger sibling who is about to go to school for the first time. Since the text is very simple, an adult reading this book with a child might have to elaborate. The illustrations are bright and simple. Would be good to read to a child entering either preschool or kindergarten.

With school starting up the next day little brother Milo has a question for his big sister. What will you do at school? Mona teaches Milo all about what happens at school. A cute and simple story. My daughter enjoyed learning about school as she will be going shortly as well. A great story for preschool aged children.

This is a sweet book with a simple yet powerful storyline. The illustrations are so adorable and kid-friendly which greatly enrich the text.

Tomorrow is Mona's first day of the new school year and she is excited to go. Her little brother Milo asks her: "What do you do at school?"

This opens up an opportunity for Mona to explain to Milo exactly what she is looking forward to. She gives him a detailed list of all the things that school entails. She tells him:

* you ride on a bus
* practice reading and writing
* learn about science
* do math...
* and enjoy art and music

She is extremely enthusiastic as she tells him about school and then she lovingly reassures him that being home with him is just as much fun! This heartwarming tale is perfect to share as the author shows that learning is play and vice versa. This book is a lovely introduction to school for those curious about it, and an affirmation of jubilance for those who already attend. It is highly recommended by Storywraps! Enjoy!

This picture book is filled with the most engaging and colorful illustrations!  I especially enjoyed the frequent appearance of the children's cat.  The story is a simple one of two children; the little girl tells the boy about what happens at school.  She assures him that school is fun as is being with him.  That's it.  An uncomplicated but fun book for little ones.
