Aubrey Grayson is on a mini vacation with Senator McKenna and his sons, whom are like family to her when he’s shot and she’s abducted. Adam is called in to help and he asks his brother, Jack, to help in finding Aubrey. Putting aside his current case with the FBI is something he vows to do so he can focus on finding Aubrey. From the start, we are trying to figure out who the intended target really was, and why, as well as the players and who’s telling the truth. Page turning story, set in Texas, that doesn’t let up until the last page.

Lisa Harris did it again with "The Traitor's Pawn". Her books keep getting better and better. This is definitely my favorite of hers, so far. Her characters were very relatable, and they stayed with me, even long after I put the book down.

This book centers around FBI Agent Jack Shannon and Detective Aubrey Grayson. Jack comes back to town for a case and he ends up helping out with a case involving Aubrey Grayson, who was a childhood friend of Jack's. There is suspense and a little romance in this book. There were a few twists along the way.

I definitely recommend this book and all books by Lisa Harris. I read a good bit of inspirational romantic suspense authors, and Lisa Harris is one of my favorites!

I received this book from the author through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I confess I am one of those readers that wants (needs) to be hooked with the first sentence of a book. When I read the first sentence of Lisa Harris’ THE TRAITOR’S PAWN, I knew I was in for a treat! “Watch your back . . . this isn’t over.” Her opening sentence segues into a first Chapter that prepares readers for a plot full of edge of your seat intrigue! FBI Agent Jack Shannon is solely focused on finding the man who has been selling encrypted government secrets to the Chinese through online birding chat rooms. However, when he learns a former Senator has been shot and the woman with him has been kidnapped, he feels compelled to join in the investigation. Especially when he discovered the missing woman was someone he was once in love with, newly promoted Detective Aubrey Grayson. Harris’ characters are genuine and relatable. You find yourself drawn to them and wanting to know more about them, their pasts and where their futures may lead. Her setting is the marshes of Texas and she describes them beautifully. The plot is intriguing and will keep you reading this book from start to finish in one sitting! Overall an excellent Romantic Suspense book! I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

This book was okay. It had a lot of action and suspense, but was too predictable for my tastes. The story line was slow and I had a hard time getting into the book. On a plus side, I always appreciate when an author with a book labeled as "Christian" actually has more than a few references to God, prayer, scripture, etc. And this book did include that.

Well written and suspenseful from the get go! I loved how fast paced this story is. Bree keeps getting hit from an unknown assailant, leaving the reader racing through the story to discover the mystery.

A really good crime thriller. The characters and plot are believable and there are twists and turns throughout.

When detective Aubrey is kidnapped she finds herself personally involved in the case. When it seems that she is the bait to get to members of her family, she struggles to balance her role of law enforcement with her personal feelings. When an old friend is assigned to the case, it provides the opportunity to rekindle their relationship.

The book also has a strong message of forgiveness.

This has been one of my favorite romantic suspense books from this year so far. I also think this is my favorite book by Lisa Harris. This has so many twists and turns. I love the romance but the suspense is wonderful. I don’t know how the characters made it through some of the parts of this story. How do you live with finding out something awful about a close friend or family member. I could not put this book down. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Lisa Harris never fails to give her fans the intrigue and tension they long for in a romantic suspense novel, but this may be her best book yet! Just when readers think they know what direction the story is about to take, Harris has another surprise in store. The mental pictures she paints with her words are as clear and evoke as much emotion as watching the story play out on the big screen as evidenced by the number of times I felt that quick intake of breath when something unexpected happened, and at other times realized that I was holding my breath as I read. I am not including a synopses with this review because I want each of you to experience this story in the same way I did, with a clean mental slate.

I am very grateful to have received a copy of The Traitor's Pawn from Revell via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review, and received no monetary compensation.

THE TRAITORS PAWN....Lisa..Harris
A non stop action story with a good flowing plot. They have always been close, getting training and going into law enforcement. Bree taking a much needed break to go hunting with the senator and his sons. While watching the sunrise, a sniper shot the senator and kidnapped Bree. His plans were foiled by Bree. The guy was a spy and part of the Albatross File, he won’t talk and tell them who the head people are. Both the senator even retired has been getting threats. Case of Bree just ended of sending a man to prison with his treats, of sending men to get her. Great story, great characters to round out a story that will be enjoyed by readers. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Revell.

This is a fantastic new release the readers must read! After reading Lisa Harris’s last new release, I was intrigued and excited for this release. With each book release, Ms. Harris has written more superbly! I love her romantic suspense books and this one will not disappoint! Readers will be wanting to read all night to finish this one. This book focuses on Aubrey who is kidnapped at the beginning of the book and a senator (a father figure to her) is shot. When FBI agent, Jack arrives on the scene and discovers who is missing he instantly wants to help find her. Even though he is on another case, he is drawn into what is occurring with Aubrey. As the book continues, the cases seem intertwined. If you love suspense, you will love Ms. Harris’s books. I highly recommend this book and believe that you will not be disappointed!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.

I like that this novel gets going right away with action and suspense as Aubrey is kidnapped. The suspense is well distributed through the novel and balanced with character ruminations and development. Aubrey is a heroine struggling with inner battles, especially toward her father. Those struggles come to be very important as the plot develops.

And that plot is a bit complex. We readers are not sure who abducted Aubrey or why. There's a traitor selling secrets to foreign governments that Jack is investigating but there were so many red herrings and conflicting evidence that I was unsure of who it really was until the end. Unfortunately, there were some areas in the book that did not seem to be realistic, such as Aubrey and Jack out driving on their own when there had been two attempts on her life. That Aubrey would even be allowed to work on the case seemed odd.

I liked the novel in general. It is a good exploration of relationships in the context of suspense. Aubrey loved the senator like a father as he had taken her in when her own father had abandoned her. Now she must face her real father and find out if he is who he says or who the FBI says he is. And Aubrey must come to grips with her feelings for Jack. All in all, a good suspenseful novel with action and character thought in good balance.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

The Traitor's Pawn is the first book I remember reading written by Lisa Harris. It was suspenseful, interested holding and had God oriented views. It is well written with an emphasis on the actual way FBI investigations go. While we all love the action pack save the world scenes much of law enforcement work is not so exciting. So I appreciated the realism of the book. It’s a win-win for me.

There is a second chance at romance for FBI agent Jack Shannon and kidnapping victim is Aubrey Grayson., which I enjoyed. However, it does not overshadow the hunting for and stopping the one who is selling government secrets. All of the story ties together well with the added events of the senator and kidnapping that seemed at first to be unconnected. Well done.

I will definitely be looking for more books by Lisa Harris after reading The Traitor's Pawn. I have read and enjoyed Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense Code of Honor series, so fans of hers would certainly love Lisa Harris book, The Traitor's Pawn. I know I did.

This was not one of my favorite stories from Lisa Harris. I wanted to love it but it just seemed like a very common storyline, there was nothing magnificent about the book.

FBI Agent Jack Shannon comes to Corpus Christi to track down the person selling government secrets to China. But when the Senator is shot during a hunting trip and a woman is kidnapped, Jack is shocked to find out that the woman taken is his high school crush, Bree Grayson.

A high stakes, action-packed, with the security of the country at risk. There are a lot of twists and turns, filled with betrayal and friendship.

Bree is a strong heroine, she has never been close with her father, but the Senator is like a surrogate father to her. She has a passion for justice, and wants to do whatever she can to be of help to investigation. She feels at home with Jack, everything is so easy with him even though the situation around them is not, I loved their interaction and how God's timing brought them together.

Jack is an excellent agent, devoted to his job, and Bree is the girl he never forgot. He is devoted to his job and isn't sure what to expect with Bree coming back into his life so unexpectedly. He is an man of action, and is serious about his faith.

Overall, a fast paced, action-packed read, it was hard to put down and had plenty of suspense. I liked the balance of romance with high stakes international intrigue. This was an engaging and entertaingin read, highly recommend!

This is a religious romantic suspense story. It does have a lot of mystery and has twists and turns to confuse the reader. This story does not have much in the way of romance. This is a story about forgiveness and healing

Lisa Harris weaves a tail that pulls the reader in and has you experience every heart pounding moment along with the characters. Spies are passing on top secret government information and the FBI is hot on the trail. But code names and disappearing data are making the trail run cold. How do you break a spy ring with no pictures or names to work with?
Jack has been working this case for months and a lead brings him home, hoping to grab a quick cup of coffee and chat with his brother. He left years ago to chase the dream of sacrifice and law enforcement with the FBI, but there has always been another reason shadowing the background that he never told anyone. His childhood best friend Aubrey loves to return home for the hunting and adopted family. She also has pursued a dream of defending victims and law, becoming a detective. But she has reached her end point, needing a break to clear her head and re-center her life. One the first day of her vacation, everything falls apart. A shooting, kidnapping, spies, car chases, and safe houses gets Bree stuck back right in the middle of everything. A place Jack wants to avoid having her, even if her father is looking like the middle of this storm.
Lisa Harris brings her characters to life, with human weakness and doubts making them relatable and real. I wanted to give them advice and help find the bad guy before anything else went wrong. They drew me even deeper into the story, going over the clues to find the truth. The riveting suspense kept me up late and guessing until the end. I can't wait for the next book by Lisa Harris, it is already on my want list! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved that Aubrey is not a typical female. She finds hunting and the outdoors to be her happy place when she needs to relax. When she is abducted, she works the problem. When faced with upsets and betrayal, she digs in to figure things out. My only issue with her is that I felt she obsessed over a couple things too much and that affected the pacing of the story in a couple sections.
I enjoyed her relationship with Jack. They were best friends growing up and are now reunited as they work to solve this case. It’s always nice when someone gets a second chance at something that could have been really terrific.
There is a lot of action and great suspense. I’d recommend this book to mystery and suspense lovers. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is the first time I’ve read anything by Lisa Harris. The book blurb sounded exciting: encrypted government documents are being sold through online chat rooms and the hunt is on for truth and a traitor. My kind of action story!
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past the first five chapters which is my measuring stick for whether I’m going to stick with a story or not.
The plot sounds intriguing and the setting is perfect for the opening scene. I could picture the sunrise and feel the serenity of the location. A duck hunt in the marshes gone sour is ideal for a criminal trying to take down the good gal while she’s taking time off of work (enjoying the early morning hour). This worked well. And I could feel the panic when a shot is fired and a pursuit begins.
There is a tenderness the reader can pick up on between the heroine and a retired senator who is like a father to her, but dialogue feels forced at times and plastic. It feels like there’s more history than story in the first few pages, too much information in the beginning that didn’t really add to what was going on between the characters on the page and really took away from the urgency of the scene.
There was more explaining why the heroine was doing something while trying to figure out how to get away than showing. It really slowed the action down and it was a bit frustrating since I could figure out the reason why she had to get away without telling me why. And the words “needed to” (or some variation) and “which meant” played like a broken record.
When the hero and heroine finally meet on the page, it’s a long-drawn out reunion in the marsh while the criminal is tied up in the boat. They catch up like the old friends they are without a thought as to the guy in her boat and he appears to be an afterthought following their somewhat lengthy conversation. I’m not sure, given the urgent situation, law enforcement officers would take the time to shoot the breeze when they know someone is coming.
I really wanted to like this book, but there were so many things that jumped out at me I couldn't give it a higher rating.

releases-challenge-2020, romance

Heart racing suspense from beginning to end, this latest suspense novel by Lisa Harris is filled with twists, turns, and numerous unsavory characters. Detective Aubrey Grayson and FBI Agent Grant McKenna have been friends since childhood. Now they find themselves embroiled in a case that begins when Aubrey's Papps, her stand-in father, is shot right next to her on a duck hunting trip and she is kidnapped. Grant is determined to figure out who is behind this and why. He becomes involved when he learns that the FBI case he is working ties in to Aubrey's kidnapping.

Harris brings Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas to life with her wonderful descriptions, and her plot puts your right in the middle of all the action. With chills, thrills, and great pacing, the writing held my attention every minute. I liked that the romance took a back seat to the suspense and that Harris also maintained a good spiritual thread without being preachy. That is especially seen at the end when Aubrey has to decided whether to hang on to bitterness or forgive even though it wasn't easy.

"I don't believe God gets frustrated at our trying to get to know him better. Even when it involves questioning what he allows to happen. "

Lisa Harris is one of those authors who write one captivating Christian Fiction book after another. The Traitor's Pawn is the latest, and it’s every bit as good as her others.

The characters in this book consist of an interesting mix of people: The main character, Aubrey Grayson, ends up smack dab in the middle of a mystery when the man she thinks of as her father is shot and she is abducted. Aubrey is a strong female character who works in law enforcement. Her childhood friend, Jack Shannon, who is with the FBI, is home working on a case that ends up being tangled up in hers. The book also introduces Aubrey’s father and the strained relationship between the two of them since he ran off with another woman, divorced her mom, and only made casual appearances in her life. Lisa Harris does a beautiful job of showing all the emotions that go with these relationships.

Besides all the relationship entanglements, the book also has a lot of action that had me turning pages. I was enthralled until the end, and I think this is one of those books that is definitely worth reading.
