The authors tone is positive and motivational but provides little in terms of actionable advice or new ideas on the subject.

Some really useful reframing ideas here, might be worth dipping in and out of now and again rather than reading as a traditional narrative. The author clearly LOVES wordplay and as much as I do too....the “this word is actually just an anagram of THIS word” is a little overdone.

Self help is a tough category to write for because reader's tastes seem to me to be very particular. While didn't click with this, it does have some good nuggets, the author obviously wants to help, and it does contain some genuine wisdom. I suspect some readers will benefit from this book.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this digital ARC!

New year, new me? The Every-Year Itch seems to cater directly toward this feeling, this itch, we feel every year. Less of a self-help manifesto, and more of an inspirational guide to following your passion - this books includes acronyms, drawings, questions, and more - but at the end of the day, it felt a bit like an inspirational instagram account trying to flesh itself out into book form.

I prefer self-help books with tangible, actionable resources - while this book was certainly aspirational, it felt more like a pat on the back from the author than a true call to action.

I really enjoyed this book literally from the first page. Each chapter was the perfect length and packed a punch. She didn't ramble on and on like some self-help books. I definitely learned some things out of this one. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. "Reflect and act."

I really struggled to get into reading this self-help book. The concept - forget about your routine and do what you’ve always wanted to do - was interesting, however, 95% what had been written by the author was either a) common sense, b) very obvious, c) already written by others or d) easily found online.

I personally didn’t gain anything new from this book. The book was quite dragged out and took quite some time to move on from one topic to another. I would have probably enjoyed it more if it was condensed into an hour audiobook. Unfortunately, it’s not a book that I would recommend to friends and family.

Having said that, I quite liked the format that the author used; breaking it down into sections and having a conclusion at the end of the chapter. I also quite like the assonances, the synophones and the acronyms used in the book - some of them quite memorable.

This book is very basic and most of the knowledge is already out there. I have to admit to not liking the format and thought it felt a bit budget and bare. For someone totally new to self help it might be a good starter book but it is not one I would want to keep on my shelf. I think a deeper more in depth book would be of value from the author.
