The Girls Weekend by Jody Gehrman is a sold suspense novel for those that enjoy the genre. It didn't have too many surprising twists but was a good read overall.

A group of five college friends have drifted in and out of contact over the span of about twenty years. When one of the friends announces that she's pregnant, the group decides to get together for a girls weekend to celebrate and reunite. During their trip, secrets are revealed and people go missing. What happened during this girls weekend away?

This is a locked-room mystery, which is one trope that I really enjoy. I love when clues are revealed in clever ways. This was a quick and easy read and the writing was well done. I thought that there would be more shocking but it wasn't really. If you like a quick, locked room mystery you will enjoy The Girls Weekend by Jody Gehrman.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Sadly this book just was not for me. This sat on my kindle for quite some time - twice I have attempted to read and twice I did not finish.

Thankyou for the opportunity but I will not be providing feedback on any commercial sites for this book.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

The Girls Weekend, by Author Jody Gehrman,

This book takes place in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State - at a sprawling estate in the San Juan Islands. This caught my attention right away, being that I live on the West coast of Canada, and love this beautiful natural area of the world.

It's a Girl's weekend story, with a group of 5 girlfriends connecting after many years

It kind of started off on a good note for me, but I became quickly bored with the storyline. It just did not capture my attention as the story progressed.

A fair read however, and one that will probably capture many readers

Thank You to NetGalley, Author Jody Gehrman, and Crooked Lane Books for my advanced copy to review

The Girls Weekend is the tale of June, a woman who goes on a reunion trip with her old college friends and whose life gets turned upside down when one of those friends vanishes during the trip. Unfortunately it's the least popular friend which makes everyone a suspect in her disappearance.

I really enjoyed this thriller. It's nothing hugely new to be honest but the characters were entertaining enough that I remember most of them months later. It is a really good holiday thriller, the kind to be consumed quickly whilst on a plane or beach. The plot is interesting enough and it will keep you occupied for a few hours.

The Girls Weekend was a very enjoyable thriller that made me interested in Jody Geherman's future work! I love a good twisty thriller and this was just that.

Despite stock character development, it did not put me off of enjoying the book. The characters were escaping for a weekend getaway, and I was escaping into my favorite genre: mystery.

A reunion with five college friends leads to a disappearance. One of the women Sadie, who is hosting the baby shower/getaway seems to have the perfect life, and old grudges surface.
We learn quickly that Sadie’s life is not so perfect. Her husband lives on the property but their relationship is not what it seems. After a late night get together and lots of drinks, Sadie comes up missing the next day.
Sadie is not liked by many. Everyone is a suspect. She also has a groundskeeper living in a yurt on her property whom has a questionable past. As they start to think “what they could remember”, they contemplate not telling the police right away even though blood appears in the home.
This book had so many suspects, it was hard to figure out whom was involved. This novel captivated me right away.

Have you ever had a girls weekend before?

This is one girls weekend I don’t think you’d want to be a part of. In Girls Weekend there are college friends who haven’t seen each other in years get together to celebrate a pregnancy. Unfortunately when they wake up in the morning one of the women is missing, they have no memories of the night before, and there is blood. What could have happened to her and did they have something to do with it?

❤️Review❤️

Unfortunately this book was not for me. I wanted something more from it. Most of the book felt like going in circles without really discovering anything. The author spent pages being repetitive about things that weren’t relevant. They argued for at least 4 pages on if they should call the cops or not. Yet at the same time there were so many seemingly important scenes that were glazed over or not shown. The ending also didn’t seem fitting for a book that was about a girls weekend. It just wasn’t executed in a way that made it entertaining or engaging.

2 stars! ⭐️⭐️

June Moody thought she met the love of her love in college. When things don't work out, he turns to one of her best friends. Years later, June is invited to a girl's weekend at her nemesis's home. She is happily married to June's old flame and is a famous author. While June doesn't want to go, her friends take her into it.

After a night of partying, someone is missing and it looks like June had something to do with it. A locked room psychological thriller along the lines of Ruth Ware. The book was well-written and the narration was excellent.

I DNFd this one - problematic language is just a huge no go for me.

Such a promising premise!

I loved the locked room mystery aspect, but it was too much like THE RETREAT by Sherri Smith and I didn't really like that one.

I love a book that involves a reunion of friends. This one gave me "The Hunting Party" vibes, but of course with a twist. I felt this book wasn't a deep thought provoking book, but a typical thriller.. However, I'm okay with these types of reads, because they do keep my attention and are fast paced.

Fabulous plot which I could not put down. Brilliant characters, and twists and turns. Highly recommend to other fans of this genre!!

A meticulously is ready thriller that keeps you guessing and will absolutely keep you engaged from the very first page. I’m definitely the right audience for locked room or secluded location mysteries as well as psychological thrillers based on toxic friendships so I admit I was primed to enjoy this book but it exceeded those basic premises and was a truly excellent novel for anyone who enjoys an excellently plotted mystery with thoughtful and complex characters written in admirable prose. A must read thriller for sure!
