This is the second book in the McBrides of Texas series and while you may recognize some characters from the Eternity Springs series it actually not set in Eternity Springs. It can be read as a stand alone novel, however, I recommend reading the Eternity Springs novels just because they are very enjoyable. Tucker McBride has left the military and he is at a loss as to what to do next with his life. While he was in the military he never considered having a family. But now that he has spent time with his cousin's daughter, Tucker wants a family. Too bad the woman that sparks his interest is already engaged to someone else. Gillian, unlike Tucker, knows exactly what she wants to do in life. She has everything planned out, right up until her fiancé changes the plan in a big way! This was another great read from Emily March that features not only an fun and engaging plot but also very likeable and entertaining secondary characters. |

From the time Tucker McBride sees Gillian walking along the side of the dusty road near Redemption Texas in her red dress and red heels I knew this book was going to be a fun ride. Tucker is immediately entranced by her...only problem...she's engaged to Jeremy. When the inevitable happens and Gillian and Jeremy breakup Tucker comes up with a plan to win her over. This story is fun, sweet, sexy and the chemistry between them practically flies off the page. Tucker's biggest problem is convincing Gillian to believe in them. She's afraid to trust herself to make a decision about their relationship. I really liked this book. I hadn't read any Emily March's Eternity Springs books before but this book is the 2nd in the McBrides of Texas break-off trilogy and I didn't have any problem jumping into the McBride's world. But, I have ordered the first book of the trilogy...Jackson and Caroline's story and plan on buying Boone's book as well! Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
I like this author she has a way of sucking you into a story and always has fun a quirky characters. I am so glad the Blessing cousins are back in this story you never know what will come out of their mouths and what they are going to be up to next. I really liked Tucker he was a Cowboy through and through, He was a perfect hero for this story nothing anyone could say or do could change who he is as a person. Gillian was a broken soul who needed the perfect person to come and help her heal but her family and friends always had her back. I loved the friendship between the girls they always have each others backs. This book does discuss sex and has some language so may not be suitable for all readers. Overall I really enjoyed this book it was a super fun read. |
This was a different sort of read for me, but I was very much caught up with the writing style of Ms. March. This book is full of vivid descriptions, quirky characters and lots of tension where it is required. What to do with a soldier returned home who quit the military and a bridal consultant/event planner who’s engaged to a not so likeable guy? Throw ‘em together in Texas, next door to each other and let the story begin. An interesting read if you like contemporary romance. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own. |

A sweet story about two people who find each other and, well, hea! Gillian has been working hard on the bridal salon she owns with her mom in Redemption, Texas- building her business and her life. And then, her rat of a fiancé Jeremy- well, he's a rat! Tucker retired from the US Army (he was a Ranger) and took a desk job in DC that made him nuts so he takes off for Redemption, where he sets up a wilderness skills school and meets...Gillian. I'd not read any of the other books in this series but that was ok. It takes a village (or in this case a small town) and it didn't matter a bit that the characters were new to me. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. This is a nice, clean romance well told. |
I found the story to flow well, the writing is good and the characters are well defined. As the title says, this is Tucker's story. He's recently left the military and is at loose ends; deciding to head "home" and redefine a life that he believed would always be in the military. On the ride home, he comes across a "damsel in distress"; his first meeting with Gillian Thacker. Tucker is taken with Gillian; but, Gillian is taken. She's engaged to a banker in her town, Redemption. She and her mother own a bridal salon. Will Tucker always regret what "might have been" or will he find his happily ever after? Come spend some time in Redemption and meet all the rich characters that call it home; including the Callahan and McBride families. |

2nd in the series of Emily March spin off series from Eternity Springs I love Emily March’s books. We meet Gillian whose life is not turning out as she expected and Tucker who is building a life after being a U.S. Ranger. We get Celeste Blessing and her eccentric cousin Angelica meddling and trying to get them to realize they belong together. Emily March stories are always fun and full of characters. Go buy this book and her other series “Eternity Springs”. They are all a fun read. |
Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas- Tucker is the second book and a great addition to all of Emily's books. The books is a sweet story that is well written and engaging. |

A strong 3.5 stars for this book. I hadn't read any of the other books in the series and am not usually inclined to read Western romances but this one was definitely enjoyable as a standalone. Gillian runs a bridal salon and is a total girly girl. Tucker has left the Army where he was an Army Ranger and has strong hiking/camping survival skills. Gillian is engaged to a twit lol and Tucker is looking for the next stage in his career post military service. They meet and sparks fly right away. Very cute story. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in return for my honest review. |
Intending to be a career army man, Tucker discovered that life as a paper-manager, while allowing him the opportunity to save lives and make some necessary changes, was too filled with politics, vipers and backstabbing for his soul, and he left. Without a plan. Feeling like he failed. Heading back for some outdoor centering and a visit with his McBride cousins in the little town called Redemption, he’s totally unprepared for someone like Gillian. Walking down a deserted road. In a dress and heels. Miles from anywhere. An argument with her fiancé over their upcoming wedding had Gillian leaving in a snit – and anger had her lost, aided by an old Pecan tree, a feral hog and a car now unable to drive. Walking seemed to be the most logical option. But she saw no one until Tucker. On his Harley. White Knight to the rescue, he shares his phone for her to call her fiancé off the golf course, arranging to pick her up at a local convenience store not 10 miles away. And then it’s on. Tucker trying to forget the beauty and charm that was Gillian, her trying to ignore the flutters. With a recalcitrant (at best) or argumentative withdrawn fiancé, she’s just holding everything together, planning her wedding and making plans for the events planning business she and the fiancé are to open. But Tucker has his own issues – most of all feeling like he failed at his longed for career – while still being there for family, while not quire being able to forget Gillian and his desire for her. But when things start to fall apart for Gillian, she runs to Tucker for help and the confidence that he so quietly gives her. With family, friends and plenty of chemistry and back and forth between these two, plenty of drama from bridezillas and a college nemesis, a few rather ‘offbeat’ references and advice from others in the family and finally the realization that being with someone who builds your confidence and sees you as amazing, even in your childish moments is all that matters. I loved this second of the 'Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas' series. I loved the vulnerability of the main characters, the charming surrounding cast and the humor in dealing with life's problems that is a hallmark of Emily March's books. Even though the interactions are adult, they are handled with no coarseness that would otherwise mar the perfection of the book. I appreciate that. Now I have a dilemma. How can I patiently wait for Boone's story? It can't be soon enough for me to find out if it is Maisey and Boone. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. |
I enjoyed this book very much. I have enjoyed the Eternity Springs Series since book one. Tucker is book two in the McBrides of Texas series. A good story line, interesting characters. |
This is the second book in The McBrides of Texas series but can be read as a stand alone. I haven't read book one. Gillian Thacker runs a bridal shop in Redemtion Texas, a charming little town. Tucker McBride is a U.S. Army Ranger looking to start phase two of his life after the Army. When Tucker opens a wilderness skills training school right next to Gillian's bridal shop, they can't stop the chemistry between them. A heart felt romance. I'm looking forward to more in this series. Seriously crushing on Tucker who stole my heart. |

Gillian is engaged, but there is trouble in paradise, and finally engagement is ended by her fiancée. She is devastated, but mostly so, because she doesn't miss her fiancée but the dream she had with marriage... Tucker is out from army and is not sure where to go. First time he sees Gillian, is when she walks on the side of the highway in her heels, he help her....but that was when she was engaged. Now he opened business and Gillian is free woman. The story is sweet, loved the way Tucker was treating Gillian. Sweet, romantic, lovely. |

OK, apparently this is 17th in the Eternity Springs series (2nd in McBride)...and the first I’ve read of either. So while I didn’t feel lost, there was definitely some backstory. The writing was fine, but I had issues with both mains. I found Tucker too cocky, and a tad chauvinistic and annoying as he approached “winning” Gillian as a military campaign (as he is a veteran). Gillian is a bit ditzy, overly emotional and too indecisive. Yes, her ex-fiancé was a real jerk, but I never got the feeling she was very emotionally involved with him, and considering that she had her own doubts about the wedding, I felt her emotional bouts were too over-the-top. I’ve definitely read better. Thanks to #NetGalley and #StMartinsPress for providing me the ARC. The opinions are strictly my own. |
Tucker by Emily March Book #2: The McBrides of Texas Series Source: NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press Rating: 3/5 stars Tucker McBride is admittedly, lost. Oh, geographically he knows exactly where he is, but in every other aspect of his life, he is lost. After his military career derailed, Tucker has found himself wandering back home to Eternity Springs in the hopes of finding himself and his new life’s path. A little time in the wilderness never hurt anyone, and if Tucker is very lucky, he will not only find his way back to life, but back to a life he can be completely happy and satisfied with. Strictly by chance (Fate?) Tucker meets Gillian Thacker, bridal shop owner by day, jilted bride by day, night, and every other time in between. Tucker’s attraction to Gillian is instantaneous, but he is a gentleman of honor and until she is completely free of her sleezy ex, Tucker isn’t going to try and worm his way in. On the other hand, Tucker is also a well-trained military man, and every good soldier knows, you have to have a plan to be successful. With Operation Horny Toad formulated, Tucker is all about biding his time until he can implement his pan and win over the woman, he is certain is his forever. Wooing Gillian begins with just being her friend and Tucker is absolutely willing to take that first step. Gillian’s heart is broken, her world has been turned upside down, and she is questioning her own judgement. How can a woman who dresses brides for a living have been so blind to her own ex’s bad behavior? What’s more, how could she have ever been so invested in a man she isn’t even sure she loved? Further confounding Gillian is that fact that her body and mind seem to want more from Tucker than just friendship, but her heart simply can’t be trusted. Then comes Vegas and a skinny Elvis . . . . . . The Bottom Line: Up until about the halfway point in this book I was firmly set on a four to four-and-a-half-star rating. Eternity Springs is just as beautiful as I remembered from book one and the McBride’s are just as sexy and honorable, and sexy and kind, and sexy and generous as I remembered. Did I mention sexy? Tucker is a book-long love and from the moment he is introduced, I wanted nothing but the best for him. What can I say? I’m a sucker for lost, sexy man 😊 The rub for me comes when Gillian begins to waffle in her decisions and actions. Though she tells Tucker she only wants to be friends, she often sends very mixed messages. Vegas, anyone??? I became quite frustrated with Gillian and her treatment of Tucker, which was bad, at best, and bordering on cruel, at worst. For me, Gillian became one of those people you just want to slap silly and tell to get her head out of her ass and recognize what’s right in front of her! Even when she eventually did pull her head out, it was too little too late for me. With luck, she will have settled down in future installments of the series and I will be able to see her for what she is meant to be, Tucker’s truest companion and partner. Tucker McBride deserves nothing less. |
This is a very fun and uplifting read. The two main characters are easy to like. From the very beginning you are rooting for Gillian and raise a cheer when she starts L.I.V.I.N.G.Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. |
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** Tucker is the second book in The McBrides of Texas series and it was as enjoyable as the first book was! Tucker McBride has recently returned from the military and he has to determine what is next for him. When he returns to Redemption, he ends up spending some time in nature and also spending some time with his cousin's daughter which leads him to think about having a family, which isn't something he had entertained before. He ultimately decides that one of the things he's best at is wilderness survival, so he and his cousins open a wilderness training school in town and it happens to be near Bliss Bridal Salon, which also happens to house one of the co-owners, who caught Tucker's eye when he rescued her when she was stranded on the side of the road. Gillian Thacker owns Bliss Bridal Salon with her mother and she's currently engaged and planning her own wedding, however things aren't going quite as she had planned with her fiance. As she begins to realize things are not as they seem with her fiance, and she ultimately finds herself brokenhearted, she turns to Tucker for support. Will something develop between the two once Gillian is free to explore the amazing chemistry between she and Tucker? I enjoyed the story and both characters very much. The supporting cast in the book was extremely entertaining as well. This was filled with romance, passion, and humor and it's one I would recommend. |

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review. An easy to read, sweet story but was quite slow to get going to the main story. I loved the character of Tucker - funny, cheeky, romantic and full of enthusiasm and determination. Gillian was a bit wishy washy and quite annoying. Slightly disappointed as It had the potential to be more but for me it lacked substance and passion and emotion. 3stars |
