One inspiring story that will have you grabbing tissues, feeling frustrated and wanting more. I loved the strength of Amy and the willingness to give up having a marriage to keep the greenhouse and her family going. Mystery revolves around this story line and will have you intrigued from the beginning.. The hardest part is waiting for the next book to come out.

I generally love Wanda Branstetter's titles. I was excited to return to the characters from her jars series. Michelle and Sara were so complex and well-drawn. I was very disappointed with this title. While I was reading it I was very engaged and excited to find out what was happening, yet there were so many loose ends and storylines that didn't go anywhere. The Englisher neighbors were horribly written, no explanation for their hostility was ever provided, and their naivete was hardly believable. I hope that later books in the series will improve and wrap up some of the loose ends. Perhaps this was a strategy to get people to buy books 2 and 3, but I found it frustrating.

Wanda Brunstetter Is known for her Amish fiction. Her characters are always well developed and her story lines draw the reader in. The Crow's Call doesn't disappoint. When three Amish men are tragically killed, three women are left to find their way. The family greenhouse is their only source of income. Will they be able to run the business plus continue with their lives? Amy King knows that she must help her mother and family run the business but what must she sacrifice in order to do this? Putting her life on hold, Amy tries hard to help. When things start happening with the greenhouse, will she be able to handle the job? I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

The Crow's Call starts out with the loss of three family members--including the head of the household/father. As the remaining family members grieve, they also have to continue running their family-owned business, a green house. The book is difficult to read at times simply because grief is NEVER easy to read about, but Wanda Brunstetter tells the story in such a way that you want to keep reading to find out what happens next! The story line contains many unexpected twists and turns and keeps you interested from beginning to end. Although not particularly an easy read, it is very much a GOOD read and well worth the time spent reading. I'm glad there are more books coming in this series starter!

Amy’s happy home life with her Mom, Dad, brothers and sister was violently impacted after a truck crashed into the buggy and killed her Dad, brother Abe, and brother - in - law Toby. A few hours before it happened a crow called out loudly.
Amy and her family were devastated her Dad had overseen the family greenhouse, and now Bernice, Amy’s mom, Amy, and her teenaged brother Henry had to do everything, and Henry only worked when he was asked.
Then Amy broke up with her boyfriend, Jared because she was always working and she didn’t want him to wait around for her - but Jared still loved her.
Then vandalism started happening at the greenhouse, the mailbox was crushed, the greenhouse sign was cut down, and before it happened, the crow would call out.
What was going on?

This is the first book in The Amish Greenhouse series. After losing loved ones the King family must go on running the greenhouse. As strange things are happening things get hard. Plants and pots are knocked over in the greenhouse. A swarm of bees , busted pipes and other things are happening. Amy the daughter gives up her courting to help run the Greenhouse. Great little mystery but ending had no conclusion until the next book in the series comes out. Can not wait to read more to see what is truly happening. Love her books.

Amazing book. "The Crow's Call" is Book one in a new series and it does not disappoint. Kept me turning pages until the end. If you read Wanda's Prayer Jar series, you will most definitely love this series as well.
Amy and her family have suffered deep grief and are trying to run the family greenhouse. She has broke up with her boyfriend, knowing her family needs her.
But is that the answer?
Can't wait for more from this series!

The Crow's Call is book one in a new series by Wanda Brunstetter. This book is so good! The King family suffers a terrible tragedy and the family must deal with the aftermath. I loved this book and look forward to the next installment. I have read everything Wanda has written and I am never disappointed.

Are you superstitous? If you see a black cat, do you go in the opposite direction? Do you walk under a ladder? Amy King felt uneasy about a crow that took up residency at their nursery. His call gives her the chills.

This is Part One of a new series by Wanda Brunstetter. She has a way of bringing her characters alive. You are not just reading the story but become a part of the story. You feel Amy's exhaustion. You can understand her worries.

I am a retired juvenile probation officer so I was interested in the Henry storyline. Henry is Amy's younger brother.

How does the family handle their grief? How can life go on? How do they cope? Pick up a copy of this book and find out!!!

I have never been disappointed in any of Ms. Brunstetter's books. They are entertaining and wonderful to read.

Things happen in life that we have no control over. But, like Amy, even after the loss of three family members all at once in a tragic accident "With God, all things are possible." The Crow's Call is another great book by Wanda that is hard to put down once you start reading it. This is Book 1 in Wanda's new series "Amish Greenhouse Mysteries" and like all her other series is going to be another great series of Amish stories.

Wanda E. Brunstetter, the queen of the Amish genre has done it again. In Wanda's latest book The Crow's Call we return to some of the same characters we were introduced to in The Prayer Jars. I love to revisit the same place and learn more about some of our favorite book people. In the first book of this new series, Amish Greenhouse Mystery, we are introduced to the King family. We are shown how each of the King family members deal with a terrible tragedy. The responsibility of running the family Greenhouse business falls on mom, her two daughters and the teenage son. There is some vandalism happening to the greenhouse and other strange and questionable things happening. We don't learn the answers to these question, which makes you want to read the next book to the series. I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Wanda's does such a wonderful job with her books. This one did not disappoint. Though this wasn't quite the mystery I had in mind, I'm still left wondering what happened after reading this and hope to get some more answers in the second book.

The author gives us a new series, Amish Greenhouse Mystery. We find tragedy, grief, mystery, love and faith all expressed in the book.

We find the King family who has lost the father, oldest son and son-in-law in a tragic truck/buggy accident. The mother, Belinda, oldest daughter, Sylvia (and her children), Amy and Henry are left to adjust and continue living. They own a greenhouse located on their farm.

As they try to take over the running of the greenhouse, they find many obstacles they hadn’t anticipated. It seems someone doesn’t want the greenhouse to succeed and is doing many things to cause it to have to close.

Amy feels she must always be there to help run the greenhouse and help out her mother and gives up a chance at love to do so. Will her mind change in the future?

Henry, the young son, struggles with having lost all the other men in the family. He befriends a crow that seems that every time it begins to chatter, something bad happens. Henry feels the bird is a new friend, but Amy feels differently.

The book is an interesting read and leaves the reader waiting to see what will happen with all the characters, and find out who is causing the problems with the greenhouse.

I recommend this book and look forward to the next one in the series. I received a copy of the book from Barbour Publishing Company and NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

The Crow's Call is a new "format" for Wanda Brunstetter, with a slant toward mystery, and it is a huge success! I was drawn in from the very earliest pages, into the sorrow and deep grief experienced by Amy and her family at the tragedy that occurred in the early part of the story. And Amy and her siblings as well as their mot her have such relatable personalities that it was easy to identify with their feelings. One beautiful part of this story was reading about favorite characters that appear here from Wanda's Prayer Jar series. I enjoyed reading again about Michelle and Ezekiel, and about Mary Ruth and her family.
In the Crow's Call, Amy and her siblings and mother are coping with grief and trying to run the family greenhouse while also trying to find out who is launching vicious destructive acts of vandalism against the greenhouse. This vandalism is like rubbing salt in the wound as they deal with their grief. Wanda Brunstetter does a stellar job of showing the family's natural responses and their efforts to band together while showcasing each individual's response to grief. The Crow's Call is one of those books I felt sad to have come to an end, and I look forward to the next installment in this series.

This was a little different for Wanda. It had mystery going on. The only thing is I thought this book could of ended sooner. I thought it was drawn out. I like Wanda’s books. They mystery part was interesting and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I would recommend this to my friends.

The Crow's call is a slow moving, easy to read story. The young girl in the story, Amy is seeing a young man, Jared, until a terrible tragedy occurs. At that point, she feels like her family needs her, so she breaks up with him. He, of course, doesn't understand, and wants to continue the relationship, and help her through her losses. Strange things are happening around the family greenhouse, and they don't know who is responsible or why it's occurring. Good story with characters from the Prayer Jar series.

I expcted a good story from author Brunstetter and THE CROW'S CALL does have good writing and memorable characters. It also portrays Amish life and faith in a respectful and accurate way. However, this book was a disappointment because it failed to resolve many areas of conflict which had been carefully set up. Because of this, the storyline was confusing and never brought to a satisfying close. In fact, I was shocked and puzzled when the book ended abruptly leaving nearly every question totally unresolved. Did one vaguely sinister character have bad motives? We don't know. Who committed the vandalism? We don't know. Was the younger brother able to find his place without his father. We don't know. Was the bereft sister able to overcome her paralyzing depression? We don't know. Even the title character, Charlie the crow, was also left as an enigma. Was he a harbinger of doom or just a bird? Again, we don't know. The love interest aspect was the only facet of the story that was partially resolved. I see that other books are planned for this series and perhaps this book was intended to offer a cliffhanger to entice the reader to pursue the series. But that strategy failed as it left this first book as one very long and discouraging description of a family torn apart by death, grief, uncertainty, and mysterious malice. The family could not see God's hand in their plight and neither could I. Two stars from this reviewer.

Amy and her family experience a great tragedy and need to find ways to move forward in live and overcome their losses. While running their greenhouse, a few strange things occur and there is a mystery around who is doing these things. Amy is also tuned in to the crow who calls loudly from the trees - is this a sign of something bad to come, or just a coincidence? This book introduces Amy's family, some other families within their Amish community, and 2 new neighbors who are English and new to the Amish neighborhood. It will be interesting to see how these different characters evolve in upcoming books in this series.
