This is a great little devotional book that I actually started using with my teenage daughters. Easy to understand, quick to read, but a powerful impact.

A fast access to some of the names of God
George W. Knight presents "1-Minute Bible Guide: 180 Key Names of God" which was published by Barbour Books. The names are listed in alphabetical order, but there is no index that shows which names belong to the God the Father, which ones belong to God the Son (Jesus), and which ones belong to God the Holy Spirit. This makes it difficult if one wants to study the names that are used especially for one of the persons of the Trinity. The presentations are very brief, a Bible verse at the top of the page shows where the name is used, followed by an explanation and some more Bible references under the title "Learn More". There is no mentioning of the original Hebrew or Greek names used in the original text. Knight seems to have a generous definition what he considers a key name. He does not mention either why he considers these names to be "Key Names." In my opinion listings such as "All, and in all" (p.14), or "Daysman" (p. 33), are characteristics, some of them, e.g., "Beloved Son" (p.23) or "Christ Crucified" (p.32) put on Jesus by God the Father and are not a name. I recommend the book to those who want to have a brief overview over some of the names of the Trinity, but I do not recommend it for readers who want to study the names of God in more depth since the book does not contain footnotes or references either.

I received an ARC from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley, this review is my opinion.

I only have good things to say about this book, like the name of the book. We found 180 names, order from A to Z the names of God. Some are known, some are not. What I like about this book is an easy and short explanation, with a focus bible verse and more bible verse where we can find this same name. I think it could be used to pray, to do a Bible study with them. But most of all to learn about who God is and to have more clarity in our daily practical life. I recommend it.

This is a nice easy-to-read guide helping readers understand the scripture better. The focus is on the different names of God including God the Father with a variety of sections. The studies or devotionals explain so much helpful information in only a minute. We can take some time out of the day and gain important knowledge from it. Make the time that you want and need from it. A main Bible verse then discussion is included. There are also Bible verses added that go along to add more to it so you can look them up. These I feel are a wonderful detail bringing the Bible and more depth into the lessons directly from the Bible. I feel this is important.

1 Minute Read
Great for the Whole Family
Detailed without Overwhelm
Repeatable

This 1 Minute Bible Guide is pretty cool. You can go through 1 a day as a devotional, or use it as a springboard for research. Or you can read it in less than three hours, straight through. There’s a verse with the name of the day, and mention if that name is used elsewhere. Historical context and explanation is concise but enlightening.

I didn’t realize that Jesus was called “AMEN” until reading this (and yes, I’ve read Revelation. Just missed this point). I knew it was an agreement or “let it be true” as in prayer, but wow! Jesus is Truth, and He is The Amen.

As for devotionals for homeschool moms (or any mom), this is awesome for family time. I’m learning things WITH my kids, and that makes it more fun!

In his new book, George W. Knight delivers exactly what the title says— a 1-Minute Bible Guide: 180 Key Names of God. Each short entry focuses on one name of God with a focal verse, a short description or explanation, and also some other passages to learn more. From Abba, Father to Word, 1-Minute Bible Guide: 180 Key Names of God is a handy resource for anyone wanting to get to know God better—through his names. It could be used as a daily devotional, as a reference guide or for worship times, both personal private. The book would also make a great gift for a new believer for a graduate, or any other fitting occasion. My only disappointment in the book is its heavy reliance on the KJV with only a few references with other translations. I believe today’s population would have been better served by a more modern translation as the main translation. Overall thought, this is a great reference or gift book, well worth the money.

Note: I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for this honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
