As always...So. Good. You know how they say the second in a trilogy is always the worst? Not so in this case!

Ms. Kendig is a master character storyteller. What I mean by that is her characters are always so well crafted and developed, and you literally can't help but fall in love and become emotionally attached to these characters. It's like you're there with them, except the bullets aren't flying at you.

Loved it. Can't wait for the next one...though I'll have to. Definitely is going on the reread list!

The second installment in The Book of the Wars is a non-stop thrill ride that no other author could pull off as well as Ronie Kendig, especially the last few pages!!

Leif Metcalfe and his team, called Reaper, are back on their mission to recover the ancient Book of the Wars. Together they face more complications than before with a new prophecy that tells of warriors who will decimate the enemies of ARC. Iskra Todorova is working with the team and using her connections in the underworld to search for the Book of the Wars as Leif and the rest of the team try to neutralize these warriors that oppose them. Each step they take to stop these new warriors brings about a new surprise in their way to accomplishing their end goals and some of these surprises could tear the team apart.

Ronie Kendig is absolutely amazing when it comes to writing these Military Suspense novels! No author I have previously read can put me out there with the team as well as she does. This is not a book you can skim through while paying attention to something else, your full attention is needed to follow such a tight, complex story. There are a lot of characters to follow but the most important ones, or at least the ones I connected with the most, were Leif, Iskra, Cell and Mercy. Each of these four characters really made an impact for me and kept me drawn deep into the story. A few times I felt a little lost and had to think back to the first book in the series, and even other books written by Ronie that helped bring things into perspective, which helped move the story forward. Each new book by Kenig brings readers further and further into the military world she has created but also continues to show us the human side of these characters. The very end had me floored! As I reflect, I can see some subtle hints leading up to what happened on the last page that made for the perfect ending that will leave readers aching for the next installment! I would recommend this to fans of the series as this is not one you can pick up and read as a stand-alone. Fans of Kendig’s work will not want to miss Kings Falling.

Another absolutely riveting story from the queen of military suspense.
I couldn't put this book down.
And now, I'm extremely sad I finished it. I can't wait to read the next one.
This is the second book in the Book of the Wars series, and the action just picks up right from where the first book left off.
The action starts on the first page, and doesn't let up for the entire book. I was kept reading, turning pages, sitting on the edge of my chair the whole way through.
I loved reading more about this team. I love Leif. and Iskra. And Cell. And Mercy. And all the others. This team, Reaper, has another amazing mission, and they are also still doing their best to track down the Book of the Wars.
In this installment, they are desparately trying to stop a super -army that is prophesied in the book.
Mercy is pulling out all the stops to find her brother.
The team are racing from one corner of the globe to another, and the action is just superb.
I found my head almost spinning at times as I tried to keep up.
Ms. Kendig has such a way with words. Her plot twists. Little surprises. Unexpected events.
Yeah, this book has lots of those going on.
I'm afraid to say too much more, because I really don't want to leave any spoilers.
But, when you read the ending, I'm pretty sure you will be where I'm at and be desperate to find out what happens next.

For me, Ronie Kendig keeps getting better and better. I've found my enjoyment of her work growing with every book and the latest is no exception. Storm Rising was very good, and as a reader you wonder how an author is going to follow a great book. The answer is with an epic one. There were some crazy events in KF, some things that left my mind going at 100 miles an hour, and a bubbling undercurrent that's making me wish I could read the final installment now.

Vibrant characters, global-trotting mayhem and big life issues, all wrapped up in a fantastic plot. Easy to give this one five stars.

have been a Ronie Kendig fan since her debut novel released and I have read every one of her military fiction books that have graced our shelves ever since! That being said this book didn’t quite hit the mark for the high expectations I have of her books. It still had all the things we’ve come to expect from a Kendig novel, high-paced action, buckets of intrigue and mystery, and intense characters with so much story to reveal.
Since this book is a continuation of book one we were already introduced to everyone but there was still so much more to learn about them all. Leif is still battling the demons of his past that he can’t identify and Iskra is figuring out what her life looks like now. The team provided a plethora of other characters with their own unique personalities. Several of them were given their own POV at various times throughout the book, and while it was good to get to know the team better it felt like a bit too much at times to have so many different viewpoints.
The team spends this book continuing to hunt for the Book of Wars and to stop those connected to it. Their chase around the globe provided lots of different locales as well as a lot of action scenes which are Kendig’s trademark. I will say at times it was hard to determine the reasoning behind some of their actions and there seemed to be some plot holes that left me questioning some things. Also, the overuse of certain phrases bugged me a bit, but that was probably something only my detail oriented self noticed.
It was good to get some more of the puzzle pieces in place for the overarching story and with how this book ended I am very interested to see how the third book wraps things up!

Kings Falling is written in Ronie Kendig’s signature “rapid-fire fiction” style. Fast-paced with conspiracies, suspense, on-the-move action, the Reaper team is set to hunt down the Book of the Wars.

This book will take you around the world (Egypt, Maryland, Afghanistan, Virginia, and other places) as the reader joins the team in searching for clues that will unveil the mystery around the Book of the Wars. Ms. Kendig will give you suspense, action, and a bit of romance in between it all.

If you’re a Ronie Kendig fan, it isn’t a question of if you’ll pick up Kings Falling but when. I’d suggest now to continue the story from Storm Rising. If you’ve never read Ronie Kendig, now’s your chance with this new series. Dive in and enjoy the stormy waters. 🙂

"He pulled her spine to his chest and tightened his arms around her. Crushed her close. Anything so he didn't pummel her with apologies and let her see his brokenness, the terror that had claimed his soul."

What an incredible thrilling adventure with the Reaper team! This sequel to Storm Rising takes the team all over the world as it seeks to recover that elusive Book of the Wars from the hands of the villain and to neutralize the band of super-soldiers dubbed Neiothen before they become activated to do the villain's biddings. The first book is a must-read before starting this one because it lays out all the background information and this book adds delicious details and major plot twists to that background. Reading this book is like tasting and savoring one layer of a scrumptious three-tier cake at a time, loving how each ingredient and flavor meld to make a beautiful creation and trembling with excitement and anticipation at what the next layer will hold.

The plot is fast-paced with plenty of action, adrenaline, and suspense. The team's banter and camaraderie are fun and hysterical. The secondary characters, like Peyton, Adam, Mercy, and Cell, become more solidified in this book and it was truly a pleasure to get to know the other team members better. And, wow, the plot twists had my head spinning and it's still spinning days after finishing the story. Leif and Iskra, of course, are still the main characters of the series and I can't wait to see where Ronie Kendig will take us in the final book of the series.

If you enjoy paramilitary romantic suspense/thriller, you will absolutely love this book and the series. No one does it better than Ronie Kendig! I received a copy of the book from Bethany House Publishers and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Kendig does not disappoint with the second book in the Book of Wars series. Kings Falling is not as fast paced as Storm Raging but it still keeps you engaged. Kendig continues to keep her readers guessing and wanting more. Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this title!

There’s only one word for this series and this book in particular: EPIC. And I mean that in every sense of the word. First of all, it’s epic in geographic scale. Not only are Reaper fighting a global battle, they’re travelling the world in order to do so—Afghanistan, China, Taiwan, Germany, and The Netherlands to name just a few of the countries visited. Secondly, it’s epic in its quest: to locate both the Book of the Wars and the unknown soldiers who are part of a super-army described as “the enemies of kings.” Thirdly, it’s epic in terms of its cast of characters, several of whom offer their POV throughout the book. Fourthly, it’s epic in the way it is unfolding the story of Leif Metcalfe, a subject on which it will be best to say very little! And finally, it’s epic in the urban sense of the word: Guys (and gals), this was totally EPIC!!!

Again and again I find myself riveted not just by the plots Kendig creates but by the characters she populates her stories with. She does team comradery so well from banter right through to brothers-in-arms (a term I use inclusively, however un-PC that may be), and she draws every last drop from the interplay between the different personalities on her teams. And despite plots that never let up, she fits in such fantastic character arcs—which inevitably brings me back to Leif and Iskra, whom I really shouldn’t say much about for fear of spoilers. All I will allow myself to say is that I absolutely love the complex dynamics between these two, and I am SO keen to see where she goes with their story, and Leif’s in particular, in the final book in the series. Aaarrgghh! There’s so much I want to say that I can’t say!!!

Seriously, Ronie Kendig just seems to get better with each series. And when you consider how many she’s written, that’s saying something! Do yourself a favour and start with Storm Rising, then simply hold on for the ride.

Is it possible to give this more than 5 stars? This definitely deserves more than 5! Wow! This book will take you on a wild ride right from page one! Every time I thought I had it figured out something new would come along. It was so good! Ronie Kendig does such an excellent job writing stories that pack a punch. There was an incredible amount of detail in this book! I loved the way the characters interacted with each other. This book has me begging for book 3!

Wow! This book picks up the spine tingling thrill ride where the last book finished. With little time to catch your breath, the team is off hunting for the Book of the Wars and information they have received from the small part they have studied. Ronie Kendig keeps the adrenaline pumping from start to finish.
Leif is more determined than ever to fill in the missing pieces of memory, no matter what anyone tells him. There are secrets being kept from him and they are starting to create division and distrust. Iskra wants nothing more than to spend time with her daughter, safe from the man who used to control her. But she also wants to help Leif put an end to the hunt for the Book of the Wars, which can also help her find her brother.. Divided, Iskra longs for peace. Meanwhile, the team is flying all over the world trying to stop the dreaded Neoithen from arising. This leaves little time for side missions and questions.
Ronie Kendig keeps the suspense flying high with this second installment to the Book of the Wars series. Whether it's chasing down a suspect, looking through a scope, or threading through top secret cyber information the characters take the reader along for each pulse pounding moment. They come to life with each conversation and mission. Heart pounding action pulls the reader along and into each moment, each page. Ronie Kendig has knocked this book out of the park. And with an ultimate cliff hanger ending, I can not wait for the next book! It is already on my to be read pile! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

One word to describe Ronie Kendig's books: Intense. With a capital I.

Kings Falling was even better than book one in the series, Storm Rising. I can't wait to see what book three will hold! From page one I was drawn back into the story and finished it in a matter of hours. My one complaint: that cliffhanger! How will I survive until October brings book three?

I loved the evolution of Leif and Iskra's relationship in this one. A lot of the physical attraction and rather heated kisses that annoyed me in the first book was replaced by a deeper mutual respect and falling in love between the two characters. Leif's character arc in this book was very intense, ending with that annoying\awesome cliffhanger that leaves you literally on the edge of your seat and you're not even sure which side he's on anymore. Iskra has really matured in this book, and I found that I actually like her now and am able to relate and empathize with her.

The story is never-ending suspense. The plot wraps up nicely by the end of the book, while still leaving the overarching story to be finalized in the last book of the series. (It bears mentioning again: THAT CLIFFHANGER. Beware.)

My overall thoughts . . . I'M DYING FOR BOOK THREE. If you love inTENSE suspense, romance, and paramilitary themes, definitely dig into The Book of the Wars series! You won't regret it.

Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig is another example of why Kendig is one of my favorite authors. The plots are so intricate you cannot read fast because you are afraid you will miss something. Have plenty of time because you also will not want to put it down. I have read almost all of her books and she still ends up surprising me every time. And she has be a nervous wreck wondering what she will do to some of these characters.

Kings Falling is part of the Book of Wars series. The last book was more about storms ( I recommend it) and this one was more about chemicals and poisoning.
I enjoyed it when she had them dressing up for an event. You don’t get to see that much in military fiction but it fit right in.

Knowing Ronie, all the things I am suspecting about Lief are probably not true. I still get frustrated with Iskra. If she compared Lief to her kidnapper one more time I was going to smack her.
I enjoyed the stories of the secondary characters as much as the Lief and Iskra storyline; Mercy and Baddar and Adam and Peyton.

This is one of those books you want to talk about when it is over. It is killing me not to discuss some of the things that happened. I always look forward to her new releases but this time I REALLY need her next book to come out soon!! :)

Sexual content – it is not sexual but two of the characters just sleep in the same bed together.
Violence – nothing that disturbed me, there is fighting and shooting, people died, people vomiting from poisoning
Language – none
Drinking/drugs - none

I finished reading this book 2 days ago and am not only still reeling from the incredible story but am seriously considering picking it up to read again tonight! Yes, it is that good! Kings Falling is book 2 of the series The Book of the Wars and it does not disappoint! This is definitely a series, in my opinion, that you need to read in order. But never fear, book 1 was phenomenal too! Kings Falling starts off right where book 1 ends and it is filled with action, twists and turns, WOW moments and a story line that simply blows you away in how well it is written and carried out. And the end of the book has me wishing book 3 was already released! Ronie Kendig has, once again, created a story that is as intense as it is well written. This story wreaked havoc on my sleep!
Leif and his team, Reaper, need to locate the book. But right now they are working on locating guardians that are prophesied in the book. Reaper is trying to take down these agents/guardians but quickly find themselves outgunned. Tensions rise as things get more and more intense for the team. Frienships are tested and the team could be torn apart.

Once again Ronie Kendig doesn’t fail to keep me wrapped in suspense as I follow Reaper on their quest to find the Book of the Wars and/or unwrap its mysteries. Will the team survive as they go after ArC? Who is the real enemy? Is it who they are after or someone much closer? I am a huge fan of Ms. Kendig and her military books, and this series has not let me down! Get your copy today!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book through NetGalley, but my review is my own honest opinion.

What?! No!!! You did NOT end that way!!!

Man, I think some authors enjoy torturing their readers :) But cliff-hanger ending aside, I LOVE Ronie Kendig books, particularly The Tox Files and this new series. They're just believable enough while still being rather fantastic.

Some of the relationship stuff is for older readers. Unlike many of the other action/suspense books I read, Kendig's books are solidly adult, but they are still clean. I never used to understand how something could be good for adults and bad for kids. Now I do :)

Okay, so we have some problems. The Book of Wars needs retrieving but there are also more immediate threats at hand. People that Reaper thought were bad are actually good (or at least good in the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of way) and people you thought were good turn out to be bad. Keeping secrets might be the undoing of everything. Plus, Iskra and Leif each have their own agendas that make being fully committed to the team pretty hard.

I still love how Mercy weaves superheroes into everything. I don't understand a lot of the references, but I think it's fun.

Now, to help my memory when book three comes out (hopefully this year!!!!): (view spoiler)

I'm sure I'm forgetting important things but that happened last time too. Many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own and a favorable was not required. I can't wait to read the next one!!!

After reading, Storm Rising, the first book in this series, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue because I didn’t know what the author, Ronie Kendig, was going to write about in this book. What was she going to make her characters go through, and what kind of emotions I was going to have?
However, what I got was a book that kept me on the edge of my seat, hands white-knuckled on the chair just waiting to see what’s going to happen.
WOW! Now, that was adrenaline at its highest!
This book left me with more questions, yet surprisingly, some answers too. I’m the kind of person who likes “who done it stories” so this was perfect for me, but I’m still trying to pick up the pieces of the story and fit them all together in my head! I LOVE IT!
Ronie Kendig knows how to twist and turn the story in such a way you don’t see what’s right in front of you and when you see it, you can’t believe it!
If you want to read a book packed full of intrigue, suspense, action (LOTS OF ACTION!), drama, military struggles, and a bit of romance, then this is the book for you!
You might need a day or two to process all that happens in this book.
Believe me, you won't be able to breathe deeply until the end, but it will be worth it.
I highly recommend reading this book and Strom Rising, the first book in the series. Pick them up and start on the adventure of your life.
I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is filled with lots of action. The twist and turns with the characters are the best because you never know what's going g to happen. Love the suspense of each character and how they all seem to just go together and know what each think and how to react. I absolutely recommend this book. You would t w ant to put it down

So, yeah, I just finished this and I just...I can't...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I really don't think I can wait for November for Soul Raging. This book! My heart, my head, my loves! All the characters need to be okay, please! I will beg on my hands and knees for them to come out of this alright! Or at least healing. I'll accept them not being 100% but they need to be healing! There's family potential going on here and apologies need to be said and secrets need to be unveiled.

This book definitely got a little darker, tugging on more emotions. Everyone is examining their places in the world (it feels like), and how they fit with the team and themselves. And then they're still hunting for the Book of the Wars and the Neiothein. From the previous book, there were definitely things that I'd suspected (Leif's missing time, Andrew being more than he seemed, etc) and while certain things weren't expressly stated, I feel like I've gotten started on answers, at the very least.

I wavered between getting excited and getting frustrated with Leif and Iskra. Don't get me wrong, I love both of them and I know they're both kind of new to this, but it seemed like every time one of them would start to open up, the other would pull away. Granted, that was usually because Leif was being paranoid, although some of the internal reasonings, I don't blame either of them. I did like that they talked about a potential future and both seem open to it. All that being said: Leif!! No! Please, no! There's got to be more to this! I know there's secrets and fear, but just, stay on the good side! Don't take the cookies!

I ended up with a few more questions regarding Cell. Although that was mostly because I still feel like his assignment with Reaper has more to it. But maybe I'm just reading into things because there's so many questions left! And Mercy...more questions! Like her past. Clearly there's stuff there and someone went to great lengths to discover it so that Andrew had a pressure point to leverage. And of course, Andrew. Seriously, Loki, what's the end game here? Basically: ALL THE QUESTIONS!

I did like that even though it feels like Mercy is still trying to misplace feelings for Ram, she's slowly opening herself to a potential something with Baddar. And Peyton and Adam seem to (please, oh please let it be real) heading towards something interesting as well.

I loved getting to see more of Canyon and Dani and their family. Hopefully they come back and Dani gets to smack Leif upside the head again. Please survive for familial abuse! And then there was that appearance of Canyon's there at the end...QUESTIONS!

A great book that builds on the prior one and series. Filled with twists and I'm eager to see where the series goes next. Ronie is one of the best when it comes to military/international thrillers with a supernatural twist.
