“There has to be a murderer on the loose.”

“Hurt can drive people to do hurtful things.”

“I couldn’t help that I was skilled in sniffing out mysterious deaths.”

Another enthralling mystery by Heather Day Gilbert! Each Belinda Blake mystery has been better than the last, which is saying something considering I have enjoyed them all. Heather Day Gilbert once again gives us flawless writing, great settings, memorable characters including spunky Belinda, and exceptional mystery all wrapped up in cozy goodness. I loved all the red herrings and how I had no clue who the killer was until my aha moment as the reveal scene was unraveling. I also liked how Book 3 gave us a nice glimpse into Belinda’s future and how the series will progress. And I for one will be waiting in anticipation for Book 4.

Homing pigeons are less dangerous than wolves, but Belinda Blake still finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation—this time in her hometown of Larches Corner in Upstate New York. And is there a connection between the present investigation and the previous death of a young college student?

Along with the mystery, Belinda is still trying to choose between her rich landlord Stone Carrington the fifth, and her childhood neighbour, rock-solid farmer Jonas Hawthorne.

Likeable characters, intriguing mysteries, and exotic pets. What’s not to like? I’ve enjoyed each book in the series, but this one gets my vote for most unexpected solution.

It's rare that I can't figure out a "who-done-it" before it ends, but this book surprised me...and in a plausible way. Fun through and through. The only thing I disliked was the cliffhanger ending - but even that has an upside: it means another Belinda Blake book is coming soon!

Another great book in this series. I just love how well written these stories are and how they keep
my attention. In this on Belinda goes back to her hometown. As always another cozy mystery by this author. I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

This is the 3rd installment of the Exotic Pets mystery series. Belinda goes back to her hometown in upstate New York when a family friend is killed and she becomes a sitter to the homing pigeons for the deceased. A college student is then killed in a hit and run that seems suspicious to Belinda she of course gets involved. The student was part of a literature club and learns another student was killed years earlier and then another member is found dead. The story moves at a good pace and I did not know who the killer was until it was revealed. Good mystery and another interesting installment in this series. Recommend.

This is another winner in the Exotic Pet-Sitter mystery series. It is well written, holds your attention and keeps you guessing who the killer is until the very end. This is a fun book that was a joy to read. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Thank you Kensington Books via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

After facing down murderers twice during the course of her exotic pet sitting duties in Greenwich, Connecticut, Belinda Blake might expect a trip back to her quaint and quiet home in Upstate New York to be a reprieve from strange animals and violent crime...but she would be wrong. First, she agrees to feed homing pigeons for her parents’ hunky neighbor. Before the feathers have a chance to settle on that decision, she gets embroiled in an investigation into a mysterious string of deaths. Thanks to danger, scandal, and a love triangle, Belinda’s homing is anything but peaceful. In fact, it could turn out to be deadly!

Belinda Blake and the Birds of a Feather is the third and most multilayered book in the Exotic Pet-Sitter Mystery series. The countless readers who fell in love with Belinda’s quirky charm in earlier books will be cooing over this story, as it develops and expands her personality even more, giving her journey a coming of age feel against the backdrop of her colorful family, friends, and love interests.

In addition, the escalating fatalities, unique suspects, classic misdirections, and savvy sleuth work will have fans of Christie style whodunnits feeling like they’ve come home to roost in the pages of this novel’s perplexing mystery.

If you like unforgettable characters and cozy mysteries with lots of twists, I highly recommend, not only this book, but the entire series.

Belinda Blake and the Birds of a Feather is the third installment in the Exotic Pet-Sitter mystery series featuring video game reviewer/pet sitter Belinda Blake. When a close family friend passes away Belinda is called home to Larches Corner in Upstate New York and soon finds herself entangled in a murder mystery spanning several years.

Thinking her visit home will be quick, Belinda is happy when she's asked to take over the temporary care of the deceased's flock of homing pigeons but when a local college student is killed by a hit and run driver under suspicious circumstances she can't quite help but get involved. Belinda discovers that the victim was part of a close knit literature club and another of the members had also been killed several years earlier. When a third member of the group is found drowned in a pool, Belinda teams up with local reporter and high school friend Chloe Vail to track down a killer.

It was a little disappointing that animals didn't play as big of a factor in this addition to the series but the mystery was well written and the killer was a surprise. The author does a fantastic job of weaving the Greenwich, CT characters in with the Larches Corner characters and the reader is able to catch up with all of the recurring people in the series. While I had high hopes that the despised love triangle between Belinda, Stone and Jonas was finally coming to a close the plot twist in the final pages leaves the door open for it to continue...sigh.

I received an advanced copy of Belinda Blake and the Birds of a Feather from NetGalley via Lyrical Underground. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

I've read one of the other books in this series, so I was looking forward to this one and I wasn't disappointed. The characters have layers. The plot and mystery have layers too, in addition to a nice pace.

'I couldn't help that I was skilled in sniffing out mysterious deaths.'

Heather Gilbert is back with the third offering in her Exotic Pet-Sitter cozy mystery series. And she has outdone herself with this one, let me tell you!

Belinda Blake lives in Greenwich and babysits exotic pets like boa constrictors, wolves, and the like. She also is quite a dab hand at solving murders. This time, Belinda spends much of her time upstate at her parents' home when, of course, there is a murder. And an unsolved murder from the past. And Belinda herself has some decisions to make in this book, which was part of the charm of the story. And let me tell you, I NEVER guessed the culprit! Never, ever would I have guessed that. This is my favorite of the series so far. I loved it so much! Highly recommended.

This book is so good! I stayed up way too late because I didn’t want to put it down! I read it all in one sitting! I love reading about Belinda’s adventures in pet-sitting and murder investigating. The reveal of the murder completely shocked me! I really hope there will be more books!

3 stars
Belinda Blake and the Birds of a Feather by Heather Day Gilbert is a decent book but probably my least favorite of all of her books. I typically love Heather day Gilbert. Her other series (Murder in the Mountains) is so good and I wish there would be another book in that series anyway, I digress, this book was just slow. It lacked a clear focus and the usual exotic animal pet sitting. It sort of seemed the pigeons were just added to the story to make it go along with the theme. I am also just so over the back and forth between Jonas and Stone and who Belinda would pick. It was obvious from the first book in this series who would be chosen, so I am relieved that Gilbert finally wrapped up that plotline. I read cozy mysteries for the mystery, not the romance.
I figured out the killer immediately as it was quite obvious. The last 25% of the book was really good. If there is a fourth book in this series, I will read it. I do think fans of Gilbert will like this book, however, but it just won’t be their favorite.

I enjoyed this book. It's different from the normal cozy mystery. I would have liked to see more of the animals the main character pet sits featured, but enjoyed learning about the pigeons. I liked the characters and it was well-paced so no boring parts. I was very surprised by who the killer is. The ending is a surprise if she decides to take the undercover job. #BelindaBlakeandtheBirdsofaFeather #NetGalley
