If you love a second chance romance and small town romances or even if you’re just a fan of romance then this book is for you! . -single parents -ex best friends -second chance romance -small town romance -Dual POV and Past & Present . Those are just a few things about this book. Teagan and Derek were best friends in high school and while Teagan was in love with Hunter she never told him and even stood by his side for his wedding. Derek one day cuts all contact with her but then 13yrs later Teagan’s daughter tells her that a new girl was being mean to her which happens to be Derek’s daughter. Coincidence right? After the loss of his wife and his dads failing health, he returns to town with his daughter. Derek and Teagan come face after many years and soon realize that so much was left unsaid, but can they move on after so much history? . On a side note, how beautiful is this cover?! So dang pretty! . Thank to Forever Pub and Netgalley for my review copy! |
Second chances are not usually my thing but I was smitten with this book as soon as I saw the cover. It's stunning! I enjoyed this book, getting to know Derek and Teagan as they get to know each other again. Friends in the past and now they could be something more. What Derek did to end their friendship when Teagan needed him the most was heart breaking. This book had the feels...happy, sad, heartwarming... Wonderful story. |
All I Ask was a heartbreakingly beautiful story about two best friends afraid to voice their feelings for each other. Teagan and Derek grew up together, shared all their moments with each other. Teagan was in love with Derek but the timing never seemed to work. Either she was in a relationship or he was. Teagan finds herself in a dilemma and ends up pregnant and standing as Derek's man of honor at his wedding. What do you do when the love of your life is marrying someone else? Do you stand by and keep your feelings to yourself? Do you finally get the courage to speak up and tell him, or do you stand in silence and watch the love of your life walk down the aisle with someone who isn't you? When Derek is giving an ultimatum, it's either Teagan or his wife, Derek sacrificed his friendship with Teagan. Years pass and neither of them speaks to each other. Teagan is none the wiser to the decision Derek was forced to make. Years pass and Teagan wonders what she did to deserve to be deserted by her best friend. Teagan is a single mom raising her daughter on her own. She isn't living the life she wanted but she is doing the best she can until one day her daughter gets into trouble at school. When she comes face to face with Derek after years of not speaking or seeing him, her world is turned upside down. Derek is back home to help his father out with his veterinary practice. Derek has some explaining to do, but will Teagan be willing to listen? Has too much time passed for Teagan to forgive Derek? The heart knows what the heart wants, but after years of hurt, can Teagan move on from the past? Will their love for each other be strong enough? |
I might be the only person here who felt this way, but I didn't;t like this book. The characters were horrible. The teenagers were just as bad as the adults in this book. At one point I was not sure who was worse, the kids or the parents. The plot was thin and I knew where the book was going from the first chapter. I ended up skimming the whole second half because it was so repetitive, |
Thank you for the opportunity to be an early reader. I had high hopes for this one & was hoping for DOWN TOO DEEP vibes. I think I'm just not in the right headspace for this one rather than the story being an issue. I'm going to try this again and/or pass it to my mom to review. |
***ARC Provided by the Author*** Corinne Michaels has this ability to reach in, grab a reader's heart, and just squeeze until the book you are reading is the best possible angst and heartbreak. Teagan and Derek were friends, and they were both in love with one another...although they never spoke about it and life got in the way, as life often does. Until 13 years later, they find themselves in their hometown with Derek trying to pick up the pieces of his life and Teagan trying to make hers continue to work knowing that the one man she has always loved has returned. Angst. All. The. Angst. And, it's done so very well. You understand how they each feel, and your heart breaks for them and for what they have been through. And, with each little revelation about how life pulled them apart, you find your heart breaking right along with theirs...until they finally figure out that together is where they want to be...and that they are going to figure out how to make it work as they aren't giving up the chance again. There's a lot pushing them apart, life, things in their past, their present...and, it's such an emotional ride watching them figure out how to get past all of those things and be together. I loved and recommend this title. |
This was my first from Corinne Michaels, unfortunately I don’t think this one was the best for me to start with! I tried to read it a few different times and I was never able to get into the storyline. I love single parent and second chance storylines, but I think this one was a bit too emotional for my tastes right now. A very much “it’s not you, it’s me”, I can see how others would love this one! I could definitely see how this book will be great for some people, but I wanted a little bit more. I love single parents storylines and I felt like there could have been so much more done with it, especially with the daughters. To me those facts were just there, rather than there to further the plot. This very well be an "it's not you, it's me" thing, because I want more than JUST the romance plotline from my romance novels! But the cover is gorgeous and I have loved Corinne Michaels other titles! |
Corinne Michaels is the perfect example of sweet, sexy and emotional. All I Ask was all of these things and more. I legit get all the feels from every single book she writes!! Teagan and Derek‘s story will get you right in the feels and Paul on your heartstrings. What I loved more than anything was that despite their connection, they had a tumultuous history that had me glued to the pages. Overall, this story was great and their love story was amazing to witness. What I loved: The history and connection these two shared. I’m always a goner for second chance and single parent romances. It was real and raw. Overall, great writing, amazing characters, and a love story that you’ll remember is what you’ll get from this author every single time! I can't wait for my next Corinne Michael's read. |

This is a single dad and mom romance is an emotional story that pulled at my heartstrings. I always love a friends to lovers premise but add that to a second chance romance and I was completely there for it. I enjoyed the flashback scenes that seemed to solidify their attraction for one another over the years. Although the second half of the book seemed to drag a bit it was still a romance that I wanted to keep reading. |
All I Ask was a really good love story about two friends who loved each other as kids but were never brave enough to say the words. Derek and Teagan ended up on different paths but are reunited 13 years later when Derek comes back to their home town. There are obstacles in their way of course as with most love stories. I loved the characters, especially Derek and Chastity. I enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to others. |
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This was a pure Corinne Michaels tear filled read! I hated the pain I was put through with the beginning of the book, so not fair. So, thank you very much for a wonderful and satisfying tear jerker! |
An emotional story about best friends whose friendship fell apart and what happens when they see each other again for the first time years later. Teagan and Derek were best friends who were in love with each other. The problem is neither of them told the other. This led to them both dating other people and, in Derek's case, getting married. I liked the flashbacks to different points in their friendship. It really established how close they were, how deep their feelings went, and how brokenhearted Teagan was when Derek stopped talking to her. When they reunite years later their love is still strong, but there are lots of obstacles still in their way. Corinne Michaels has crafted a really great story and I felt for Teagan and all she had experienced. Derek was a bit frustrating at times with his lack of communication, but I could understand some of his motivations. A nice read about family, love, and friendship. I am definitely going to read more of Corinne's books soon! |
I very much enjoyed this story. It was an interesting storyline regarding second-chances at love. Both characters had rounded backgrounds that contributed to who they become. The plot is pretty predictable, but that didn't stop me from liking the characters and their story. Thanks, Netgalley for a copy of this book for review. |
(3.75-4 ⭐️) This was the first book I’d read by Ms. Michaels. I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style and am looking forward to reading more of her work. Teagan and Derek were best friends. But when life forces one of them to make a choice, it changes both of them forever. I liked the premise, I loved the characters and even though I didn’t agree with Teagan’s choice at the end, I enjoyed the book overall. |
This was my second book by Corrine Michaels and I enjoyed it so much! A solid 4 stars! Not going to lie when I say that the cover captured all of my attention. That water color look is stunning. Everything about the cover is stunning and I want to frame it on my wall. I definitely am going to be buying a paperback just to own this beauty. Now, shifting to the contents of this beauty, this book is my new favorite by Corrine Michaels, I previously enjoyed an earlier book of hers as I loved the balance between angst, tension, and romance, but All I Ask made me ache. I’m typically not a huge fan of these second chances sort of stories where the characters reunite after SO MANY years, but Corrine was able to weave together heartbreak and angst with this story that I felt myself compelled to keep reading to find out how it all ends. Definitely recommend if you want an angsty story! |
All I ask was an emotional romance that pulled at my heartstrings in the most vulnerable ways. I have always been a fan of friends to lovers romance and seeing that they were also single parents who reconnected later in life, this one sealed the deal for me. Everyone knows that raising a kid is not an easy job and It’s ten times more when they’re teenagers( help us all). It’s been thirteen years since Teagan last saw her best friend and it has left a hole in her world that was always filled with love, kindness and laughter from him. Raising a teenage daughter on her own and working for her parents is all in a day's work sometimes and even though it’s a struggle sometimes, there is no way that Teagan would ever give up providing a good life for her daughter. Now content with her small town life, Reagan is now looking forward to creating a better future for her and her daughter and nothing is going to get in the way of that. But things are about to get shaken up in this small town when the newly single veterinarian moves back and she comes face to face with her former best friend. I really enjoyed this this story and I found myself reading at a slower pace just so that I can savor it A LOT more especially the first half of the book. Everything shined in those chapters and I really liked the flashbacks moments because not only they showed the start of their friendship , but we were also shown glimpses of how they interacted with each other and you saw the love. The second half felt a bit dragged for me and I was not a fan of the conflict towards the end but other than that, this was a solid read. If you’re looking for a romantic friends to lovers romance, this one is for you. |
This book gripped me! Author Corinne Michaels best book I have read from her. Tegan and Derek's story broke my heart, put it back. together and had me swooning hard. Just get this book and fall hard in love with this story. |
This story is beautiful, emotional, and full of heart. It is breathtaking and swoonworthy. I loved every minute of reading this. I had to catch my breath after doing so. I loved these characters so much. They were perfect together and I enjoyed their journey. I absorb Corinne's writing everytime and this has become one of my favorites. I can't wait for more from her. |
This was a cute yet emotional read. Between the story, the setting, and the characters it kind of reminded me of "Gilmore Girls". It definitely is a very different story but both the show and this novel share their own similarities. In the beginning of this novel, I really liked the relationship between Teagan and Derek, especially with the involvement of their past. However, I have to say that the steam fizzled out as the story progressed. It's a personal preference. I'm all for a cheesy romance and I typically LOVE them but this one was a little TOO cheesy for me (and I never thought I'd say that about anything). It got to the point that instead of intentionally steamy scenes being hot, I was grimacing because I was uncomfortable with the characters. If you are looking for a small town romance that is meant to warm the heart, this one might be the one for you but it was not everything that I had hoped for. ***Thank you to the publisher for supplying me with an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*** |
