Every once in a while a book takes my breath away, the reason why? It was written with an insight into a strong woman who isn’t afraid to share her opinions and speak her mind. At long last a character I can relate too and not be disappointed by the decisions she makes. Despite her secrets, Clara has a good heart and after a terrible secret is found out she escapes to the country to start again. Here we meet some amazing people that become important to Clara. Her kindness, compassion and willingness to help others shine through and you cannot help but like her. You will be drawn into a great story and hopefully enjoy it as much as i did.

Have just finished reading this lovely book. The story of Clara and how after her heartbreak and buying a cottage after getting drunk, moves to a lovely village, meets a handyman with his daughter who helps renovate the cottage, and along the way meets others in the village whom she helps find their true worth and gets to know them. One of her friends helps her come to terms with her past and helps the handyman do the same. Loved the story and loved one of the lines “Clara’s Clucking Castle”. Would definitely recommend it.

I thought that this was truly beautiful story - it was a joy to read and I loved every page.

I thought that the group of characters gelled well together and they had great interaction too which worked so well with the story line.

The author has a great writing style and it worked well with the plot and gave it a great flow. It was an easy book to read and I found it to be a well developed and fun story too.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, I really enjoyed it and found it an emotional read. It was heart-warming, sincere and special - very, very highly recommended!

A lovely light hearted feel good read that shows the benefits of friendship and letting go despite what you have gone through and the life experiences that have shaped you!
Clara relocates to the country after a relationship breakdown, buying a rundown cottage without even seeing it, enter handyman Henry and his daughter pansy who live in a van and travel around the country looking for work since his wife Naomi had died! Together Clara and Henry renovate the cottage, and as they do so their friendship grows and blossoms, aided and abetted by the elderly tassie, great characters especially timid Rachel from the bakery and butcher joe! A real feel good read that will appeal to many!
Thank you net galley for this early read.

A great read. It does deal with some difficult issues and was an emotional read at times, but I did enjoy the book and look forward to more from this author.

What a fantastic book. Had me laughing and crying.

The author has done a wonderful job if creating a whole range of characters. All with their own flaws but also immense skills.

The story weaves itself beautifully together and it's conclusion is sad, but perfect.

I'll be looking out for future books by Kate Forster as this one was superb and read in one sitting

A book full of serendipitous events which is what makes it all that much more magical. She buys a cottage online = unseen. Once she sees it, the cottage needs lots of repair starting with a new roof. A man and his daughter just happen to be wandering through the village and comes to find out he is a real handy man and can fix her roof and just abut everything else that needs doing. The fun begins
! while predictable as all good romances are, getting there is half the fun and this book provides that. A really ice book , perfect for everyone.

I enjoy this author’s books and this one doesn’t disappoint.

When Clara discovers her boyfriend and best friend are now a couple, she is devastated. She decides to leave London and whilst slightly drunk she buys a cottage online. When she arrives in the village of Merryknowe, Clara soon discovers that the cottage is more rundown than she thought.

Arriving on the scene is Henry and his outspoken six year old daughter Pansy; Henry agrees to renovate the cottage for Clara. As the days turn into weeks Clara and Henry realise they have feelings for one another, but one of them is holding something back which could cause problems for the future.

A great book with wonderful characters. A nice love story which was an entertaining read.

Clara discovers that her BFF and her boyfriend are doing the deed, so she packs up and packs it in, buying herself a little cottage to start life anew. The plot is the standard affair. She finds a new love interest, Henry, who outshines Giles in all manner of manhood and a new BFF, Rachel.

A couple of issues that stood out: there were a few typos throughout the text which hopefully will be caught prior to publication; the final confrontation between Giles and Clara seemed random and out of place. Why did he go to visit Clara? He said he didn't want her back. Why would he care if she knew about his relationship with Judy? Clara didn't care one lick about him. Although meant to create tension and conflict, the scene came across as awkward.

I did like Henry but wasn't overly fond of Clara or Pansy. At times, their characterizations came across as over-the-top. Overall, it was a pleasant read with some mild angst along the way.

Thank you to NetGalley, Head of Zeus/Aria, and Kate Forster for an ARC of 'Starting Over at Acorn Cottage' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I was intrigued by the book as I love books on starting over. Strong women who pull themselves up and out of bad situations.

This book was cute. I enjoyed the characters and it was a quick read.

My only real issue (and I know this is an ARC - so I tried to take certain liberties - there were so many typos and inconsistencies. At times it made it hard to understand what was happening. I am hoping through the editing process these little issues will be cleaned up.

Aside from that, it was a cute and quick read.
