Lilith Chambers’ quiet life as a parish midwife shatters when the brother thought responsible for her death discovers she's alive and well. Having been raised in an orphanage, she has few memories of her real parentage or the circumstances of her disappearance from the life she ought to have. As she reorients herself in a new life, she meets the one man she can’t have. Walter Hobbs, Baron Collingwood, is struggling to assume the mantle of his untimely inheritance. Then he meets Lilith Chambers, the long-lost daughter of the 15th Earl of Roddam. He is struck by love at first sight. She is everything he could ever want in a woman, except for two inconveniences: she is illegitimate, and she wants nothing to do with him.
This is the love story of Walter and Lilith as they discover themselves through each other.
This was a decent read. It was a bit slow in places, but that wasn’t much of a bother. The characters were likable and the overall plot was good and pretty straight-forward. I recommend.

Paulett Golden did it again for me and produced a book that I could not wait to finish.

That being said, out of the series so far, this book has made me the most upset. That upset caused me to read this book more slowly. My upset has nothing to do with any fault of the writer. If anything, it is an indication of how engrossed I became in her world. They way Lilith was treated by many of those around simply because of a circumstance beyond her control, while historically accurate, was upsetting for me. I could not wait to see her take control of the situation and really embrace who she is. Walter's steadfast nature and willingness to go against the society he was deeply entrenched in just made me love him more, and at times want to throttle Lilith for her stubbornness.

The romance in this one is more like the slow burn of many regency novels with a lot of reluctance and personal growth. I would completely recommend this book to anyone that loves a great regency romance, with reluctant love, and a great underdog story.

Paulett does it again in this third installment to the series. Lilith, the illegitimate daughter of an Earl meets Walter, a Baron who falls for her immediately regardless of her less than stellar birth or the fact that she doesn't seem to share his feelings.
I like that it's the male lead that has to work to get what he wants instead of the other way around.
I again recommend the purchase of this installment in the series.
Thank you Paulett Golden and NetGalley for allowing me this advance copy for my honest feedback.

The storyline was well written and the characters were so well developed that I didn't stop turning the pages until the very last page!

This was a difficult book to get through in the beginning, not because of the main characters but how freaking nasty the antagonists were. Still, by the end, i was very glad I finished it. I continue to be amazed at how good Golden's characterization is. People you've known for two books seem completely different when seen through a new person's eyes. This is how it works in real life, but it's rare to find an author who can pull it off. Golden is an author to watch!

The third book in the series is very good. I like that the man is the one struck with love at first sight and has to win over the woman who isn't interested (at first anyway). Throw in the fact that she was believed dead, and the illegitimate daughter of an Earl and it's quite a fun read.

As the illegitimate sister of the Earl of Roddam, Lilith has been hidden for years in an orphanage. It hasn't been easy for her to accept her new station in life when she's reunited with her brother. As a midwife and a teacher at the orphanage, she has a purpose and she's happy. All that changes when she meets Walter, Baron Collingwood, the cousin of her brother's wife. The powerful attraction between them scares her from trying to fit in with society. What kind of life can they have? A long book with ups and downs that takes a while to get to an HEA. A very good series that I recommend reading in order, because if the overlap of characters.

The third title in the Enchantress Novel series, this was probably my least favourite to read. I was happy to suss out more of the story of the characters involved thus far, but also had a really hard time connecting to this one. I wasn't seduced as much as I had hoped to be and was left feeling a little flat. I was happy with the outcome but emotionally uninvested during the journey. I felt frustrated with the characters at times and found their refrains to be repetitive and unnecessary. All this being said, there were some poignant moments, some humorous elements, and the steamy scenes you come to expect in a novel of this genre. A way to pass the time and bridge the tales between two additional titles - necessary, but not the favourite chapter.

The Baron and the Enchantress rejoins the series as book 3 and really should be read with the others to fully appreciate the story. We have Lilith Chambers and Lord Collingwood, Walter. Lilith is still coming to terms of having her life thrown into turmoil with discovering who she really is. Not only was she brought to an orphanage at the age of 8, but she was a by blow of the last Earl. However her brother Sebastian doesn't look at her that way. She's his sister and that all that's to it.

Walter has been floundering lately too. Since his father passed, he doesn't know what to do with himself. He regrets so many things and doesn't quite know what to do with himself now. He could join his inlaw and uncle on their paths and views, but he wants to do something great and worthy all on his own. Meeting Lil not only changes his view on orphanages, but he's found his one. Now he just has quite a few hurdles to overcome to get what he wants.

Things never go as expected and they both have a lot of growing and journeying before they can be the best of who they are and accept each other fully. It's quite a long book, but I promise you ti's worth it to read. There is one more in the series, we return to read about Mary, The Duke of Annik's little sister. It will be interesting to see what she is up to.

Unfortunately I did not enjoy this historical romance. The story was slow to start and the language difficult to process. Just not interesting enough to hold my attention.

Lilith Chambers all she can remember is life at the orphanage she has few memories of her real parentage and she’s long ago accepted the life and the future she has. She discovers she’s the long-lost daughter of the 15th Earl of Roddam. Walter Hobbs, Baron Collingwood finds Lilith everything he desires except she’s illegitimate and she wants nothing to do with him. I love how the sparks fly with their witty banter. He represents everything she has grown to despise about the nobility class. A captivating story of two people overcoming their differences and falling in love. An excellent story and one I voluntarily wrote a review.

Another win in the series! Lilith and Walter have become my second favorite couple after Sebastian and Lizbeth (bonus points for peeks at their happiness in this book!).

Part of what I really liked was this was essentially a coming of age story of two adults. I say that because it showed character growth and Lilith in particular finding out the type of person she wants to be and what she wants in life. Walter too grows throughout the story, shedding some of the upper-class stereotypes. Lilith and Walter actually complimented each other perfectly, each helping the other develop mutual respect and love.

This would have been an excellent conclusion to a trilogy but I'm even more excited to find out there's more books on the series that I can't wait to read!

Walter Hobbs, Baron Collingwood, has felt lost since his father's untimely death three years ago. He's shirking his duties to the barony and left it in the steward's hand. The last thing he's thinking about is taking a bride, that is, until he meet Lilith Chambers. Lilith is the sister of his cousin-in-law Sebastian and his attraction to her is immediate. However, Lilith is floundering with her own identity. Within a year, she's found out why she was sent to an orphanage at age 8 and is trying to reconcile the fact that she's Lady Lilith instead of plain Miss Chambers. Though she finds Walter attractive, she has an aversion to aristocrats. Can Walter convince her he's not like other members of the ton she's met and win her heart?

This is the third book in the series and my favorite so far. Walter was such a good and honorable gentleman and against her better judgment Lilith falls for him, but the divide in their standing in society has Lilith convinced they have no future. The book moves along at a good pace. The author does a good job of letting the reader into their inner most thoughts and I was eagerly turning pages to find out what happens next. I'm looking forward to reading Lady Mary's story in this next book.

I voluntarily read this book and all opinions are my own.

Lilith Chambers has reached the age of 33, believing herself to be an orphan, only to discover that she is the half-sister of an Earl. Finding our she is illegitimate, changes everything. Once a confident midwife, she questions her beliefs particularly on meeting Walter, a baron, who she believes is not so much beyond her station but as nobility, he stands against all she holds true.
A beautiful romance between two people who despite their attraction and strength of character, find themselves uncertain as to how to move beyond their long held beliefs. Paulette Golden writes with great detail ad brings great depth to her characters. I particularly enjoyed the secondary characters who appeared in earlier books in the series. They add to the story but this is still a stand-alone book due to the carefully explained relationships between all characters. Another fascinating story in the series.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
