Every once in awhile I like to cozy up with a light romance guaranteed to have a happy ending. Rain on a Tin Roof starts out with a meeting at a convention, and attempt to conduct a long distance romance and an eventual happily ever after. Sandra A Sigfusson provides a good story, a lovely romance, and engaging and compelling characters. Rain on a Tin Roof is an entertaining afternoon's read. I will read more from Ms Sigfusson.
3.5 I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

With the awesome title that I loved, this book had promise. Until I started reading.

I tried but I just couldn’t do it. From the very beginning, the writing style really was a huge turn off but I kept going hoping it would get better….

It didn’t.

Things were just everywhere… no true character development, very quick scenes with contrived situations and irrelevant information that really didn’t need to gain our attention (why did we need to know the arrival time in Phoenix?). A lot of the dialect was very silly and juvenile. (B3…. Really?) This book just felt very directionless and not well thought-out. I just couldn’t do it anymore when there are so many other books that are awaiting my attention.

Virginia and Luke hail from entirely different worlds. She is a spirited young city girl from Tacoma, Washington, while he is a successful cattle rancher from Texas who moves fast and plays hard. When their worlds collide during a chance meeting at a convention in Phoenix, Arizona, the sizzling desert heat holds nothing compared to how hot their desires for each other become in a single weekend. The young lovers quickly discover maintaining a long-distance relationship from opposite sides of the continent won't be the only challenge they'll face as friends and family also question their motives.
This was an ok story. The plot was fairly basic. The characters were ok. I’m not a big fan of instalove and this one didn’t really do it for me. I hadn’t read this author before, so there weren’t any expectations.

Rain On a Tin Roof was a refreshing look at love at first sight with all of the hesitation and uncertainty that accompanies it.
The story of Luke and Virginia is romantic and sweet.

Loved this
It was a quick, great read

Great characters - Virginia could have done with a little more development as a character but this didn't spoil my enjoyment

I haven't read this author before but would certainly read more of her

Virginia thinks everything is going well in her life, for the most part, it is until her best friend gives her news that should be good but makes her a little sad for their friendship, not for her.
She is then asked by her boss to go with him to a conference in Phoenix which takes her some time to decide what that was all about. While at the conference she meets a cowboy Luke who with his brother runs a successful cattle operation. In San Antonio, that night they hit it off and spend the night together.
Now you have him traveling from Texas to Washington on weekends to see her. This, of course, gets old and after one weekend when she goes to Texas he asks her to move there to be with him. She does and the rest of the story is how the two of them adapt to her living in Texas and them being together. I don’t know how many people would make the move in the story as quickly as she did but it did add to the story. All of the characters I thought were very good and overall a good book, maybe a little fast.

Virginia and Luke meet at an out of town conference and hit it off so well that they end up spending the night together. With both of them living in opposite parts of the country, they know being together will be difficult. But their connection is so strong that they decide to give long distance a try.
Rain on the tin roof is a very easy read. There are no ups and downs, just a smooth journey with a couple of bumps along the way. I think it is book that you can relax with, a perfect holiday read.

This free ARC from Netgalley tells the whirlwind romance between Virginia a contract writer from Washington state and Luke , a wealthy rancher from Texas. These characters meet at a conference in Arizona where Luke caters the event and Virginia accompanies her boss Robert as a last minute option. The sparks flew, the chemistry was strong and immediate, and the sex was steamy and sensual.Virginia blows off her boss to spend all the time she could with Luke, until she misinterprets a particular scene, and decides to extricate herself. As expected the misunderstanding is cleared up and things are on again.Promises are made and broken, huge changes and upheavals are put in motion and disagreements crop up and sidelines the romance.I found Virginia easily swayed as she capitulates in the face of her personal convictions with the assurance that things will work out and Luke will stick. While he seemed an overall good guy his harsh and careless words were a turnoff that would have seen me bidding him goodbye. The sideplot with Virginia's friend Charlotte and her love interest didn't add much to the story, and felt like a filler..Overall the book was interesting and kept me turning the pages..Loved that last sentence at the end.

I am not a fan of insta-love, so that annoyd me. Virginna and Luke are a cute coupe, but at some parts I felt like the plot got lost and the focuss was too much on their sexual antics. There wasn't really character development. Overall I thought it was an okay read.

Rain on a Tin Roof is my second read by Sandra A. Sigfusson, and found myself a little disappointed with the character development, especially as this was a full-length book. The story started out with the promise of an exciting and high-octane plot, but I felt there was too much description in other areas of the book, and not enough focus on Luke and Virginia, other than their sexual antics. Virginia was also lacking as the heroine, with her willingness to concede to Luke’s every wish, even when she had clear reservations or doubts. I’m not a fan of wishy-washy women and would have preferred Virginia to show a little backbone.

For me personally, this is more of an insta-love story (which could have been much shorter) than an in-depth romantic novel of 300 plus pages. A book this length should have provided better character development, less unnecessary detail and definitely some angst and hurdles that required the couple look deep into themselves and make compromises or sacrifices for their relationship to work; unfortunately, Virginia’s compliant attitude made her seem weak and immature. Overall, it was an OK read, but it didn’t reach its full potential.

I don’t think this book was for me. Low drama, low angst. Maybe because I am a business owner, but I didn’t like that Virginia accepted an all expenses paid business trip with her boss yet flaked out on him on the first business event. Granted she was not directly involved with the events, but she could have made the effort to participate. I didn’t fall in love with Luke either. Other than being a suave, handsome, rich cowboy, he didn’t have much of a personality for me to relate to.

I love the characters, especially Virginia, but thought there could be a bit more to her. There’s a bit of steam between the two, maybe could be a little more. Luke’s character - there was just something that had me not liking him.

This is my first introduction to Sandra A Sigfusson and although I like the concept of the book the writing style is not for me. It’s a little to quick to jump around and I thought some storylines could be expanded a bit.

A good quick read, not something that has you mesmerized to the book and not a book I would read again.

This is my second read of this author and I must say it wasn't my favourite I much preferred The Playboy Next Door

After saying that there is plenty of steam between Luke and Virginia but it just seemed to be missing something and I can't even tell you what that was Was Virginia a little to compliant yes she needed more fire in her soul.

I'm all for the insta attraction and love and low angst and drama. If you like that too; you'll love this fun hot read! Easy enjoyable read with likable characters and an entertaining storyline
I look forward to more from this author.

A bit too one-note insta-romance but plenty of steamy🔥 passion😶

😐 This story started out with promise but as it progressed it lost my interest and I took to skimming. I kept waiting for dramatic tension to surface and it never did. Yes, this couple indulge in frequent bouts of passion and experience some dangerous moments, but their whirlwind romance just proceeds along with no important obstacles or glitches, just blips every once in a while that resolve in a few pages. The Washington State-based heroine ends up folding and agreeing to her Texas honey's every desire, even when she has really strong doubts or fears. I like my heroines with a bit more gumption and independence and my romances with some angst and serious problems to surmount. There was a surfeit of unnecessary detail and, for me, a lack of character development.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Virginia and Luke have a whirlwind romance and fall for each other quickly. At points I was asking out loud if they were crazy. But it was a good read.

The great character and storyline development kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book! I was so engrossed in this story that I read this book in one sitting!

A fair story, although not exactly my type of story. Struggled a bit to get into the characters, and at times keeping track of who was who. Long distance romances, although not much romance shown, can be hard, and that is the main focus of the story. Would recommend, as it is a short quick read if that is what you are looking for.
