I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of the story.

This book is part of a series and I read it out of sequence. While it is not necessary to read the first book to get the flow of action and history in the second book - I might have bonded with the characters faster.

Daphne is a young merkabak empathetic who is learning how to use her powers with the help of her mentor, two night stand Nephliam, SJ.

Throughout the book, Daphne obsesses over the secretive SJ and why he just won't love her to have mind blowing sex.

In between bouts of fighting their combustible chemistry, Daphne and SJ work to identify evil beings and banish them to another dimension to be judged for their acts against humanity.

In this story, Daphne grows personally and spiritually. SJ confides a few secrets. The ending leaves room for a fourth book in the series.

I would recommend reading the series in order so that the personality quirks of the characters seem more natural and easy to understand

What a great series! Daphne is hurt and angry at her protector. She is torn between quitting her job as a Merkabah recruit but feels also that it is her duty. She learns more about SJ and his extensive life before her. There is humor, mystery and plenty of paranormal fun. The ending made me gasp with multiple emotions! I can’t wait for the next book!
