All the Silent Voices was a thought provoking, topical read. The idea of someone who had such such a huge impact on Emma's life turning up as her boss was very interesting to me as a reader, and would be gut wrenching if this happened in real life.

The way the story unfolded was something that really kept me turning pages, wanting to find out what happened. I did enjoy the character of Emma and found her reactions and emotions to be very realistic.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys women's fiction and has had interest in the #MeToo movement. Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC at my request. All thoughts in this review are my own.

This fast paced thriller is quite a timely story in light of the Me Too Movement. There is much to think about here. Not only rape and assault on women but about the power of drug companies. It is BIG business and tremendous money makers. When there is that much money involved there is bound to be corruption. And this kind of corruption can be life threatening.

What if your rapist of many years ago suddenly appeared as your new boss in your workplace?

Husband and wife, Emma and Aidan Shephard are both worried about their jobs. They work for Davis & Parsons, a pharmaceutical company, and the owner is planning to sell. The buyer is Avias Global, which is set to merge with D&P. And guess what? The president of the company is Richard Stoker, Emma’s rapist, who left her suffering and dying in a cold stairwell. There is no doubt in Emma’s mind that this is the football hero who brutally attacked her at Westview, more than two decades earlier.

All she had to do was report it. After all, she had a rape kit, severe bruising and cuts as evidence. But, the powers at Westview, including the dean, dismissed Emma’s assault claims back then. She didn’t even have the support of the police force. If the football star’s reputation was damaged it would endanger the building of a multimillion dollar sports arena. That is much more important.

Not surprisingly, Emma has never shared this information with her husband, Aidan. The physical scars are gone but the mental hurt has never faded.

Now is Emma’s chance to get revenge. Emma focuses her clever plan on the new drug called Parozex, an antipsychotic drug Richard wants fast-tracked to FDA approval despite potentially fatal side effects. The side effects can easily be buried in the fine print. Who reads that stuff anyway?!

Emma looks for dirt on the new boss and uncovers a surprising link to her former college roomie, Shannon, as well as Emma’s boyfriend at Westview, Jeff.

Richard’s scheme to get Parozex fast tracked to the market is definitely unethical, but with employees scared of losing their jobs and Aidan getting chummy with Richard, convincing others won’t be easy for Emma.

Emma’s Westview story is heartbreaking. She often blames herself for Richard’s vicious assault and is psychologically incapable of using stairs, as the attack took place in a stairwell. Yet Emma is strong and she does persevere even as she stumbles. So, is it wrong when she involves her teen daughter, Sophie, for her hacking skills to dredge up info on Richard? That’s a biggie because now her daughter is in grave danger.

There’s compelling suspense, especially near the end, and surprising plot twists.

The book does highlight Emma’s triumphs, such as the support she receives from and provides for another rape survivor.

A work of fiction that reads like an all true story in our society.

I rarely binge read, but this grabbed me from the get go! It’s a tense psychological novel that relates to the current #MeToo movement. A brutal rape in college, continues to affect its multiple participants 20 years later, as the rapist invades Emma’s life, when he buys the company she works for. Attempting to protect her family from her pain, she chooses revenge to try and even the score and destroy him.
This is a well researched by talented Elena Mikalsen as she develops strong, interesting characters, as she navigates the pharmaceutical companies, the FDA and a corrupt police department, elite college and other county officials.
It will keep you hooked until the conclusion. Thanks to #NetGalley #WildRosePress for my ARC All opinions are my own.

This book made me feel a range of emotions. I wanted Emma to get revenge, which is not the right thing to do. But I was scared for her, and cried for her. No one should have to go through what she went through. Reading about how people get paid to look the other way to get a drug approved is extremely sad but true. I loved the bond between Emma and Sophie! Thank you for writing such a wonderful book!

What would you do if after twenty-one years your new boss turns out to be the man who drugged, beat and raped you? Emma has moved on and is happily married, but then learns that the new president of the company that both she and her husband work for is that man. What should she do? Neither her husband or daughter are aware of what happened in her past. She wants the justice that she was denied so many years ago, but at what cost? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)

I have left a review on Amazon and will also leave one on B&B

ALL THE SILENT VOICES by Elena is a book that really kept me turning the pages. How far would you take revenge in getting back at those that harmed you in the past. After being sexually assaulted and force to leave college, Emma Shepherd has built a new life for herself. Only her close friend actually knows all that happened to her in the past. When your company is taken over by your worst nightmare, what do you do. What follows is a thrilling read, action packed with all kind of twists and turns. I highly recommend this book to those that love psychologial suspense thrillers.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my fair and honest review.

This was a very thought provoking story. Emma was raped and beaten as a young college student. The. system failed her even though she did everything right, she reported it, went to hospital, had exam, saw counselor, reported to university....but he was a hot shot quarterback...she was a nobody, she "asked for it" "what did she expect at a frat party?" Nobody paid but Emma...She went on to go back to school after working for yrs to pay for it having lost her scholarship, PTSD plagued her life but she passed it off as anxiety. She was married, had a daughter life was good....then her company is bought out and who is her new boss??? Her rapist....her world explodes around her...Elena gives a voice to all the silent voices out there, very well written story dealing with difficult subjects

Truly a novel that had me on the edge of my chair! I was angry, sad, hopeful, and definitely petrified at times!
How does anyone ever get over the anger and humiliation of being raped, losing a scholarship, and then having to depart from college because not a soul believes that this abuse has actually occurred?
Years gone by- a family, a good job and friends; Emma thinks she has moved forward from the torment in the past.
However, a new new company president takes over and it is the last person Emma can possibly imagine!
The football player who had raped her and changed her world?
Her anger comes to the surface and the plots for revenge begin!
I was afraid for Emma and her family!
I was truly encompassed by this story! It had me from the very first chapter and I was stuck until the very end!
Excellent!

Danger, shady dealings, and revenge

Emma is horrified when she finds out her college rapist has bought the pharmaceutical company where she works and is now her boss. She tells her old friend Eric and then her psychologist. She wants him gone . She teams up with her daughter, her friend Lori, a reporter Abby, and a co worker and friend Dana and they try to put him out of business so he will leave.

While investigating they find out about crooked cops, bribes, unsafe drugs and an unsavory institution . They get themselves into some serious trouble and rile some dangerous people.

The story has mystery, suspense, and a lot more. It really made me think. With the high prices of drugs could the pharmaceutical people be bribing people to get the drugs approved faster? Are the new modern drugs coming on the market really safe? This is a book of fiction, but it was scary for me because I could see something like that really happening, and I am not real sure it isn’t.

I recommend the book, and I think if you read it, I think it will make you think as well.

All opinions in my review are solely my own.

Thanks to Elena Mikalsen, The Wild Rose Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review an advance copy of the book.
