I would like to thank Monster House Book and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this book.

It features Prince Lincoln, who in battle is one of the best demon slayers of his people the Thrax. Nowadays he must lead a fight of the hardest. Because being half angel he fell in love with a girl half demon. But his people lz consider him a person to be hunted. Myla Lewis will become their number one target and Lincoln will not tolerate it. He will protect her at all costs.

A book read in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story, so addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.

Admittedly, I read the Angelbound Lincoln series out of order.. but I really enjoyed both the pre-quel and the third book. So, I expected to love one that centered on the Thrax prince himself.. even more.

'Lincoln,' book two in the series, somehow didn't read as smoothly to me as either of the others.

The second installment follows Prince Lincoln, a part-angel demon killer, as he comes into his own. He has fallen for a quasi-demon girl named Myla.. but his people see anyone demonic as the enemy.. and the PITA neighboring kingdom of Acca is determined to win the right to hunt her.

In an effort to protect her, he's been a first class jerk to keep her at a distance from him, but as time has passed.. he's only become more enamored and more aware that the precariousness of her situation continues to grow.

As I've said before.. Bauer has done a wonderful job with the world building. The races she employs in her stories are a quirky, but fascinating combination of beings.. the magic bases are interesting, and the villains are nothing if not persistent.

Still, this book felt off for me. Perhaps I've just grown tired of the first person storytelling style, but I think Prince Lincoln's voice just doesn't resonate well with me at times. I enjoy him when he's causing the villains problems, but when he's mooning about over his girl.. it's all rather dull. There's just not a lot of depth there with any of the characters.

Furthermore, while he seems to be able to spend ample time describing the most minute detail about Myla, there's a lot of story developing throughout the book.. and those pieces feel very rushed. It's like a bare minimum of words were used to get the most information into the shortest span of time possible so that he could go back to talking about his feelings.

There are a ton of interesting characters in the book.. and they really don't see a lot of page time either. They're tools of convenience to further plot or deliver information to the reader, but they aren't allowed to crystalize into anything solid. In fact, the story may be a bit dialogue heavy.. relying on that and inner monologues to explain what's happening, instead of really letting the reader experience it first hand.

I do have a couple of favorites though, Walker.. his Ghoul friend and Night, his spell casting mare.. are both fascinating. Myla is fine, same with Queen Ophelia. The sense of humor is there.. even if it doesn't actually make me laugh. Most of them are pretty likeable.

All in all, it was still a fun read. Very light and nothing wrong with the writing. It just felt weaker to me than the other two.

Angelbound is filled with intense demon fighting amongst other fighting from beginning to end. It will keep you on the edge of your seat watching and waiting to see what demon or who Lincoln was going to come up against next and where he was going to lead us. I loved traveling with Lincoln from the House of Thrax to the House of Acca to Earth to Purgatory or to the arena to watch the fights or to a ball to dance or sparring with Myla and fighting some demons somewhere in between. I just love this world and can’t wait for more of it. I can’t wait for more of Lincoln, Walker, Myla and her tail oh and Lincoln’s too oh my now that is one hot dude right Myla, you go girl, Lady Adair keep on trucking you don’t want a piece of Myla Lewis.

Angelbound is an amazing series that I highly recommend to one and all weather you like demons, ghouls or the Great Scala. If you like adventure, fighting, action, romance and hot dudes then you are going to love Lincoln, Angelbound Origins book two.

This is the first book I've read out of any of the series, or from the author at all. In that case, I feel that I'm able to view this book from a fresh perspective. I admit, after about a quarter of the way through, I worried that I wouldn't know what was going on, but that was not the case. The one thing I was hoping for more background on was the different houses (Kamal, Horus and Striga, etc.). As the book progresses, it explains a few things that helped. I just felt there was more content missing. Everything else that went missing, on account of the series, was quickly explained afterward, which I was grateful for. The pace of the book started off very well, then it went from zero to sixty, speedily. There was just so much action in the second half of the book. Crisis after crisis. I admit, I had to take a break about 75-80% of the way through, just to catch my breath. For those who love action, this is the book for you. If you also love comedy, I recommend it. There were times that I could not stop laughing. The blunt jokes and slight innuendos made this book all the more enjoyable for me. However, I did expect a bit more to happen in the end. It wasn't as epic as I expected it to be, after all the action.

Enjoy this series and am looking for the author's other books. She does a terrific job with her world building.

I could not believe it has been nearly 7 years since I first discovered and fell in love with Angelbound.
Amongst other dystopian and paranormal books that I loved, The whole Angelbound universe had played such a major part in my life in terms of turning me into a full-blown avid fiction reader (who wouldn’t even entertain the thought of ‘reading’ anything before) and then later finally starting up and developing my book blog. Other than earning the nostalgic points, I gotta say it felt so great to be able to delve back in to the universe.

I have always admired Christina Bauer’s skill in her world building and character development in each and every one of her books, and Lincoln did not exempt. I am completely in love with the sassy and badass Myla, and I can gladly say that I love Lincoln just as much.

I was quite concerned that the plot would feel overused after so many mini-series and prequels. My memory of reading the original Angelbound series was still quite fresh when I read the first instalment, Duty Bound, and it somehow tempered my feelings towards the book as it’s own. It had felt repetitive even though I did get to read it in Lincoln’s point of view for a chance. But now that my head is completely fresh and hungry for it, I enjoyed the shit out of it! From the well rounded and lovable characters to the exciting plot line, Lincoln is simply a major page-turner. I am definitely picking up the next book.

Lincoln dives into a tale, which anyone who has been following this series, already knows. But don't expect this to be a rehash from another character's perspective because that's not what this is. It's so much better than that.

With the same easy read feel and plunge into action at every bend, the author again delivers a read which is hard to put down. Lincoln is a prince as well-raised and well-balanced as any prince should be. He knows right from wrong and will lead his people gloriously one day, but right now, he needs to stand by his people and parents as they fulfill the time they have been sent to spend in the world of demons and purgatory. As demon hunters, this isn't an easy feat. Worse, Lincoln is horribly attracted to the one female, he needs to stay away from...not only because of who he is, but being near her endangers her life.

I enjoy the easy-writing style of this author as she dives into Lincoln's head and lets the world open up from his perspective. He has tough choices to make, needs to weave around difficult situations, and save everyone he's sworn to and loves. It's fun to root for him, especially as things only get more dangerous and twisted as the pages turn. There's enough details to sink into the world and understand it without ever killing the flow. And there are other great characters to root for (and some to mistrust or simply despise) at his side.

There's romance. Of course. And this is well-done. The reader already knows where it's going, but that doesn't diminish the tension (which is saying a lot to the author). Lincoln's view point has cleared up several mysteries, brought tons more depth, and made the relationship between the two even more exciting. It will be a treat to see where all of this goes next.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it quite a bit. So, I'm leaving my honest thoughts.

I liked this book, it's engrossing and entertaining.
The cast of characters are interesting, the plot is well crafted, and the world building is very good.
