I received an ARC and found that this book had some useful ideas on how to tackle overthinking as follows:
Values driven decision making
Outsourcing a question not just a task
Analysing whether someone is well suited to a task you want to outsource based on the outcome you want to obtain

However, I’m not so keen on the inclusion of concepts like mindfulness and being centred or balanced in the chapter on rituals. It’s also important to note that this is not a step by step guide and has more of a chatty, somewhat rambling style, which is mostly enjoyable but which makes engaging with the audiobook harder.

I will say though, that the audiobook is very well read by Anne Bogel and I love that she reads the Audiobook herself. The link between perfectionism and overthinking was well explained and this book provides a clear definition of what is and (perhaps even more importantly for me) what isn’t overthinking.

If you feel stuck on the decision treadmill, and it feels like it takes a lot of work to make a decision, this is a great book. We have to make so many decisions every day, that even the simplest of decisions can feel overwhelming. In her book Don't Overthink It, Anne Bogel gives readers a framework for how to make any decision. We don't need to be anxious about making the wrong decisions anymore.

Just buy the flowers! Don't Overthink It really helped me see how much I've been suffering from indecision and have been hindered by it. Anne Bogel breaks it down in an understandable way and offers so many practical tips on how to overcome overthinking. A great read if you struggle with anxiety. Also, check out Anne's website - Modern Mrs. Darcy - if you need recommendations on books and how to live your best reading life.

Don’t Overthink It was a great read at the perfect time. While the pandemic was everywhere and overwhelming everyone, Anne Bogel was giving is practical tools for survival in overwhelming time. Laughing instead of crying was a much option for me and many others. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

A book for every overthinker and back and forth decision maker. I loved the to-the-point and easily applicable tips and advice. Reading Anne’s books are like talking to a friend who honestly wants to make your life better.

Another incredible book from Anne Bogel! As a chronic over thinker, I feel like Anne has lived in my brain and is speaking directly to me. It’s like a chat over tea with a good friend who knows my overthinking ways. I can’t imagine how much time and energy I have spent thinking about things both small and huge. With this book, Anne gives practical strategies that can be implemented today and some larger questions to shape my future behavior. The next steps questions at the end of the chapters helped me to dig in and really examine my thought processes, what works for me and what might not. Now when I find myself starting to overthink a small indulgence that will be me great joy, I remember to “buy the flowers,” and I’ve yet to regret it!

I loved this book and think most people could benefit from reading it! Even deciding to buy flowers is, I think, an important life choice these days because we all need more flowers! The concepts explored in this book were immensely helpful and any opportunity to avoid overthinking is one I'm going to take.

I've been a long time reader of Anne's blog and I have listened to "what should I read next" since the very beginning. This was a really enjoyable read, and I liked how Anne's voice came through. As a fellow Enngegram Nine, I appreciated her point of view, and have implemented a lot of her suggestions.

Anne Bogel has written a gem. This book is for anyone, but particularly anyone who struggles at all with making decisions - big or small. I think that includes about 99% of the world’s population. I’m so thankful for such a practical book that includes many actionable steps on how to make making decisions a little easier. I highlighted more in this book than in any other to date! I was clearly unaware of just how much I personally struggle with overthinking. If you pick this book up and read it you will find relatable stories as well as some easy steps that you can implement TODAY to make your life easier! I will come back to this book over and over again.

Anne Bogel does not disappoint in Don't Overthink It! Her book offers practical advice and reads as if you're talking to a wise friend over coffee. The tone and anecdotes assure you that everyone's been an over thinker at some point, but there are tips and tricks for getting out of that overthinking cycle! This is one of the most delightful AND practical books I've read!

I originally got this book as a member of the launch team, but life got in the way, and then March 2020 hit, so it's now August 2022 when I'm finally reading it!

I really enjoyed the straightforward discussion around why we overthink and how we can disrupt those patterns. The author's personal stories added depth and humor to the factual information. I especially appreciated the section about building habits and routines in order to cut down on decision making. I will definitely be incorporating some of those ideas into my daily life.

I recommend this book for anyone who overthinks (which, let's face it, is probably all of us!) If you would like to break those patterns and spend your mental energy on other things, pick up this book and start making small changes.

It's rare for me to read a book I feel is speaking directly to me and my lived experiences. It has been over two years since I read this book and I think of it often, and have been known to quote it at friends and family. I think we all need reminders to live our lives and not always get hung up on the details, and better yet, how to recognize when we are doing that.. Buy the flowers!

SO if you are already an over thinker, does reading about it make worse? These were my initial thoughts going into this read. Can focusing on something that a person is already hyper focused on have any real long term benefit? Short answer...YES!
Anne's no nonsense and witty approach brings the the surface, things that may seem obvious but somehow seem to get lost in the frantic overthinking that so many are plagued by. Simple strategies that provide the key to please us from the prisons in which we unintentionally incarcerate ourselves in. Anne offers what sometimes seem to be overly simple tools, and it is in that simplicity that the code can be cracked. Read Don't Overthink It with an open and relaxed approach and allow the wisdom it offers to give you fresh eyes to travel worn roads and you will quite likely be delighted to find your thoughts wandering to new and more productive thought patterns.

If ever there was an overthinker, it's me. Anne Bogel’s Don’t Overthink It has been so good by helping me to realize that I’m not the only one who struggles with overthinking and giving me ways to help overcome it. This is the best book that I’ve read on the subject and it will always have a place on my bookshelf.

This is a book I will probably be highlighting different things in over & over! I didn't realize how much I "overthink" many things & that I really do suffer from decision paralysis. Such great advice in this book. And if course, fun stories of Bogel's own personal overthinking! Alot of common sense advice but good reminders that anyone could use!

I am a huge fan of Anne Bogel and this book is great for people who deal with overthinking things and decision making. She lays everything out in plain terms, giving great strategies for overcoming these anxieties and making the right decisions for yourself. I don't suffer from this, so the book didn't really work for me personally. However, I do enjoy her writing and have several people in mind who could benefit from the strategies.

While this book came out pre-pandemic, it was such a help in navigating COVID-19 anxiety. I have been a long time listener to Anne’s podcast and have read and loved all of Anne’s books including this one. I strongly recommend.

I purchased a copy of this book on pre-order in 2020 and it was prescient for that particular March as the pandemic set in and we started overthinking everything. I love Anne Bogel's podcast (What Should I Read Next) and I am a member of her Modern Mrs. Darcy Book Club and continue to think everything she produces is so high quality, helpful, and often brings me joy.

Here's the review I posted to my Instagram BookstagramETC:
So thrilled to post about this beauty during its publication week - #DontOverThink it came out Tuesday (but I got a head-start reading it a few weeks ago and have been savoring it). This book is full of actionable advice about breaking out of thinking yourself into loops. I feel like the subtitle should be: how to be nicer to yourself. It's about identifying your values and making decisions based on those values and not second-guessing them. My favorite segment was about the power of creating and maintaining rituals. A lovely read - and #AnneBogel herself reads the #Audiobook if you know and lover her voice from #WhatShouldIReadNext, you could think of this like a really long podcast episode!

Anne is not just a great podcaster and book presser, but also a great encourager of people. Through her book, she encourages everyone to enjoy the simple things, lean into self-care, and be less critical or judgy, as all of us tend to do over things. And for Pete's sake, buy the flowers -- or whatever else makes you happy! :) Great book for anyone who overprocesses everything they do...or just as a book to remind you to believe in yourself and make a move.

Anne Bogel is always a win for me, and “Don’t Overthink It” was no exception. I laughed, I nodded emphatically recognizing myself, and I walked away with newfound tools, tricks and knowledge on how to be decisive. But also to be kind to myself, and to understand the why’s behind decision making in general, and how to simplify life in the best possible ways. Anne’s writing is always approachable and personal. I feel as if I’m sitting down with a good friend when I read her books. Highly recommend!
