Dr. Finley is a radio therapist who doles out advice, including helping to make sure that abused women have a plan to escape from their situations. But her success is stripped away when a patient makes a stunning accusation against her, then suffers injuries from a car crash. If that wasn't enough, during the chaos of the car crash, her husband disappears. She is the only one who can figure out who is trying to make her life hell, and it isn't easy.

This is a great thriller/mystery. What makes it so good is that the narrator is slightly unreliable because of her abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs. Along with that, you aren't really sure who is doing these things to her until nearly the end. A typical thriller gives it away about halfway through the book, but this one waits until nearly 90% of the book is read before you understand just what's taking place. It's certainly a book most thriller lovers will not want to put down until the last page.

This was a quick, easy, and dramatic read that kept me guessing the entire time. I feel like most people may think the twists and turns were a bit predictable in this book, but they actually were still enjoyable nonetheless.

This was another fun, dark romp where I was certain I knew what was happening, second guessed myself, and then realized I was on the right track to begin with.

I like sharply written, razor-witted characters with a dark inner monologue and I got that in spades with Faith Finley so if this is your thing, Someone's Listening is going to be a great fall read.

A mystery painted against a vividly drawn setting, Glass masterfully makes you root for a character that you're not sure if you should 100% trust and keeps you guessing from the beginning of the story to the end.

4 stars because of the misplaced British jargon peppered in that made me think I missed something in Faith's back story and slowed me down while I went back to search for it.

Otherwise, lovers of a good, suspenseful story will enjoy Someone's Listening.

Thank you, Netgalley, for a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

Wow, just wow!!! I'm glad I got to read this book! I was so drawn in that I got the audio and finished listening to the book while doing my shopping. I just had to know what happened. I love it when that happens. I couldn't get enough of this story! This book deserves to be classified as a psychological thriller. It had all the action, mystery, and mind games that mark a good psychological thriller. I love that the main character is a psychologist and still couldn't figure out until it the very end what happened and who was behind this stalking. Fantastic book!

Someone's Listening is an edge of your seat thriller debut. Faith Finley is a successful, talented psychologist with a best-selling book and a popular radio show called Someone's Listening. She is happily married. Until Liam goes missing without a trace and the police are suspicious of Faith. Then the notes begin, notes that are Faith's own words taken from her book. The book is super twisty and creepy. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy thrillers and are looking for a new author in the genre. This is one not to be missed.

Someone’s Listening is Seraphina Nova Glass’s debut novel. It is a thriller featuring Dr. Faith Finley who wakes up from an auto accident in the hospital to find her husband missing. The police find no evidence of Liam being in the car despite Faith’s insistence. All evidence points to Liam deciding to disappear. Of course, it is understandable considering recent events. Their lives have been in flux. Faith leaves their Sugar Grove home to return to their Chicago condo. Then the notes begin arriving. Are they threats or warnings? Someone’s Listening has a unique format. It is told in alternating chapters of Then and Now. We get to learn about Faith and Liam’s past in the Then chapters and what led up to the accident. I found Someone’s Listening to be slow starter with the pace increasing in the second half of the book. Some parts of the story moved very slowly. There is some great suspense and action near the end that will have you riveted. There are a variety of suspects and you will be wondering who you can trust. Many readers will be surprised with the outcome. I was not a fan of Faith Findley. She is an unlikeable main character who drinks and pops pills. I would not want Faith as my therapist. She was self-involved and just plain annoying. I wish the main character had been friendly and warm. It would have made a difference. There is foul language, intimate relations, pill popping, and vast quantities of alcohol consumed in this story. Someone’s Listening is a twisty suspense novel with a lost spouse, nasty notes, an abundance of alcohol, a disengaged detective, and a prominent psychologist.

Faith Finley is a psychologist/therapist, who appears to have it all. She is a successful author, with her own radio advice show, and she’s happily married to the love of her life, Liam. Then it begins to fall apart. A former patient accuses her of having a sexual relationship with him while he was underage. Her career suffers damage, and she and Liam have to endure the snubs and attacks of colleagues who are only too happy to see Faith’s fall from grace. When driving home from a book signing, Faith and Liam are in a serious car accident. When Faith awakes in the hospital, she’s told that she was alone in the car, and her husband seems to have disappeared. Her tox report shows that she had a high level of drugs in her system, though Faith is sure she didn’t take any pills that night. The evidence points to Liam choosing to disappear on his own.

As time passes and there is no sign of Liam, Faith spirals into living on alcohol and pills, while still being determined to find her missing husband and the truth. She begins to receive anonymous notes which quote from her book, but with seemingly ominous intent. The police begin to finally believe Faith, and encourage her to leave her condo for a safe location, but she’s determined to stay in her home and to continue her pursuit. Who could want so badly to destroy Faith’s life and career? Is Liam responsible? Is he even alive? Could it be her ex-lover, Will, who never recovered from her leaving him for Liam? Or, maybe the computer hacker, Marty, who lives in the building? What about her drug addicted and abusive parents? Or even her sister’s enigmatic husband?

SOMEONE’S LISTENING is a book that definitely captured my attention and interest. The writing is well done, and I have to admit that I was wrong about who the villain was. The one thing that detracted from the book for me was the actual main character, Faith. Though I can’t deny that she suffered greatly, she was truly a train wreck. Her constant pill popping and drinking had me shaking my head, as did many of her impulsive and unwise actions. As an educated psychologist, she was well aware of what she shouldn’t be doing, yet she forged ahead. Those actions came close to costing Faith her life. The twists and the suspense were excellently crafted, making this a true page turner, and a recommended read for fans of this genre.

Faith Finley is a psychologist with a radio talk show called “Someone’s Listening.” After the book launch for her latest self-help book, she gets into a car accident with her husband, Liam. However, Liam wasn’t found at the scene of the accident with her. Liam has disappeared without a trace. Faith is also dealing with the repercussions of a sexual assault allegation from a patient. When Faith starts getting threats that are ripped out of the pages of her own book, it becomes more urgent for her to figure out what happened to Liam.

This story started out with some thriller tropes. Faith had a different version of reality than the people around her. She believed that her husband was in the car with her when she had the accident, but he wasn’t found there. Faith also came from an abusive household and was a heavy drinker, both tropes in the thriller genre. Once the main mystery of finding Liam was underway and Faith started to get threats, the story left the tropes behind and became its own story.

The layout of this story was a little confusing at the beginning. The chapters alternated between “then,” which was immediately after the car accident, and “now,” which was seven months after the accident. These chapters were confusing because they were so similar. Both time periods would flashback to other events, so I had a hard time keeping the events in the correct order. The second half of the book was much more linear because it remained in the present, rather than switching back to the past.

I was quite surprised at the ending. I had a couple of suspects in mind, who weren’t actually the main suspects in the story. The person who was threatening Faith wasn’t who I suspected at all. There were a couple of red herrings, which weren’t cleared up at the end and just made me suspect the wrong people, but most of the clues lined up with the guilty person.

This was a great thriller!

Thank you HarperCollins for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The book opens with an accident. Faith is found driving her car and seriously injured. Liam, her husband is not in the car. She is sure that he was driving when they left the party to launch her new book. Where is Liam? What can't she remember? Faith Finley is a loving wife, a psychologist, the host of a popular call-in radio show and author of a just published self-help novel. Her life is now a mess due to one of her teenage patients publicly accusing her of having a sexual relationship with him. Faith’s husband, Liam, supports Faith through the fallout, until the night he goes missing. The evidence points to him wanting to disappear, to get away from the notoriety, but Faith is sure something happened to him.

This was an entertaining read. The story is told from Faith's perspective and she is a wonderful, well-developed character. Her inner dialogue is so well written. There is a dual-timeline, but Ms. Glass did a great job with the flow between the now and then. The plot was well-developed and the pacing was great. I thought I had it all figured out, but I was not correct. I loved the twists and the finale was fantastic. A fun ride from start to finish. I recommend this one to those who enjoy psychological suspense and thriller stories

OMG! What a dynamite book! Talk about suspense, thrills, and mystery! Someone's Listening by Seraphina Nova Glass is fantastic! I couldn't put it down for anything. I was hooked from page one. This story had me reading late into the night to find out what would happen next. It was seriously the epitome of an unputdownable read. I just LOVED it!!

Faith has it all. She's successful in her career, her marriage, and in her life. Things are perfect until they are not. Yep, life winds up throwing a bunch of lemons at Faith. Her husband disappears. He's missing or gone. And, she's a suspect. Plus, someone is sending her notes filled with quotes from a book she wrote. Quotes filled with ways to protect yourself in case someone is out to get you. Faith is freaked out, stressed out, and worried to the nth degree. What is she going to do? Who's sending these notes to her? Where's her husband?

Glass has written a terrific thriller that is chock full of twists and turns that will have you guessing every which way. You won't be able to help yourself when you get sucked down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out whodunit. I absolutely LOVED spending a rainy night with Someone's Listening.

I am so tired of the drunk, unreliable narrator. It was kind of cool for Girl on the Train, but at this point, it's been done. I much prefer new takes like Silent Patient, but I digress.
.
Other than the protagonist driving me crazy, which I get was kind of the point, this was a very satisfying mystery. A little slow in the beginning, I felt like this could have been edited a little, but the ending proved that the beginning had its purpose even if it made for slightly frustrating reading. Specifically, I could have used a few less inner monologues about her desperate, mixed up feelings. It set up the second half of the book nicely, but dragged the first half down a bit.

I also wish the creep factor could have been turned up a bit, but the stalkerish notes were good to build suspense. I just didn't feel the danger as I should have until the ending, which was spot on dark and thrilling, if a little too quick. I did love the twists with the ex, the nosy neighbor, and the tech support neighbor. Great idea for a mystery because Seraphina Nova Glass brilliantly used red herrings to keep the ending a surprise even though all of the players and clues were available.

Overall, good mystery, tons of narrator uncertainty, and a great ending.

Special thanks to NetGalley, the author and Graydon House (Harlequin) for this really deep and twisty thriller!

The tittle instantly had me wanting to delve into this read, it started just a wee bit slow but, really gained momentum and I ended up finishing over half of it today. I enjoyed it and really didn’t have a clue how it would end, the author was great at hinting at certain people but, I never thought it would be the person it was. The main character, a widow who’s depressed but wanting to find answers to her husband’s disappearance, ends up digging a little too deep. Someone is leaving her notes and other mementos to scare her and it’s working!

I definitely recommend this read and think it was an easy to get into book, had really great character development and kept me trying to figure out, “whodunnit”.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book started off a little on the slow side, and I thought I was in for a typical “why did the husband disappear” story. I could not have been more wrong. Little by little, the author started dropping hints that something more was at play in the disappearance of Faith’s husband. As Faith tries to put all of the pieces together, she starts to uncover something much more sinister. That’s all I’m going to say about the plot. The author did a fantastic job of scattering just enough information to keep the reader as off-balance as Faith was. For a detailed review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. You know that feeling when you start a book, you think you know what’s happening, where the story is going, you start to lose a little interest but you decide to keep going and then BAM, it’s got your full attention again?
That’s what happened with me and this book. Someone’s Listening by Seraphina Nova Glass.
Before I keep going – yes, I recommend this read and yes, I think you should pick it up!

It’s been a hot couple of weeks and I was looking forward to a book I could read out in the sun. I loved the idea of this book – the premise really intrigued me. Dr. Faith Finley, the main character, is going through a rough time – her husband goes missing and the police think she’s involved. Then threats start appearing and she gets scared.
I would to.
The ending was unexpected and there were a lot of suspicious characters that I thought were totally involved. Trust me when I say, trust your gut when reading this book and be ready for an enjoyable read!
The perfect book for a perfect summer day. I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Again another lovely thriller. This one was good in spurts. There were places in the book where the story fell flat and I found myself falling asleep. Overall, it was enjoyable and I had no idea who was after Faith. Everyone was suspect. From the old lover, to the husband himself. Could it be her brother-in-law or a former patient? The last half of the book was definitely better than the first half.

If you are a thriller lover, I think you will enjoy this one. I really felt for Faith and her struggles throughout this whole story. She has survived a lot in life and having to go through this storm seems almost more than she can handle. We as women are resilient and we can make it through. This is the first book I've read by Seraphina Nova Glass and I look forward to reading more.

This tale starts with a back and forth perspective after a terrible accident and sabotaged career. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but this title is so much more than just a missing persons whodunit. I was lulled into complacency through the first half of the novel – it wasn’t particularly “thrilling” at that point, but was needed backstory for the big hits in the last half of the book. The author carefully crafts an adversary with just enough detail to make you think you have it figured out but also with just enough vagueness that you may second guess your conclusions. There are a few red herrings that add layers of mystery to the novel, and the elements of suspense are devised to keep you engaged. The novel was easy to read without any overly disturbing scenes or imagery, but includes one high-stakes, possibly triggering sequence as part of the finale.

4.5 Stars

Hearts will pound and spines are sure to tingle with Seraphina Nova Glass’ chilling and nail-biting thriller, Someone’s Listening.

Faith Finley lives a life most people would envy. She has a successful career as a psychologist, is a best-selling author, hosts her own popular radio show and is married to Liam, a wonderful man who makes her positively giddy with happiness. Faith’s life couldn’t be more perfect and nothing and nobody is going to derail her happiness – until one fateful night when everything changes and her whole world is turned on its head. Nothing for Faith is going to ever be the same again as she is plunged into a sinister world full of danger, menace and fear where she cannot trust anybody.

Her husband Liam is missing and Faith is beside herself with worry. Liam left no clues or traces behind him making the police wary. They think that Faith is either behind her husband’s disappearance or that she has lost her mind. With nobody in her corner, Faith decides to uncover the truth behind her husband’s disappearance herself. Going down one dead end after dead is soul-destroying and crushing, but when she beings to get threatening notes ripped from the pages of her own book, Faith realises that there is somebody willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that she does not uncover the truth about her husband’s disappearance…even murder!

As Faith edges ever closer to finding her husband, she keeps getting threatening note after note and as the mystery behind Liam’s disappearance intensifies, she wonders whether she will ever find her husband alive…or whether in her quest to find Liam, she will end up the predator’s next victim and pay the ultimate prize in her search for the truth.

Seraphina Nova Glass’ Someone’s Listening is a tense, sinister and creepy thriller I just couldn’t put down. A brilliantly plotted read that you will want to devour in one sitting, Someone’s Listening is a twisted and terrifying tale of vengeance, obsession and secrets that grabs you from the first line and keeps you enthralled until the very last sentence.

A domestic noir thriller I certainly won’t forget in a hurry, fans of Shari Lapena and Gillian Flynn need to add Seraphina Nova Glass’ Someone’s Listening to their must-buy list.

I love suspense novels, especially when there’s interesting character dynamics and there are creepy moments interspersed throughout the novel. This novel did achieve some of what I wanted, the prologue that you just read was creepy and interesting. The ending of the novel was honestly spectacular, and there were a handful of really creepy moments specifically brought on my one fabulous character that was just amazing. The rest of the novel wasn’t my favourite.

This reads more like a drama than anything else, not bashing drama here but I wasn’t expecting it. The main character Faith, is incredibly judgemental, to the point where she’s calling people names in her head without them saying a word. She is a psychologist specializing in escaping abuse, which was interesting if it was used more than just as background. There were a few moments in the novel that went against the idea of mental health completely, which I would was strange for a mental health professional. She’s also against having children, drinks and take pills regularly and lives the loneliest existence. All of this combined to make her quite unlikable, which combined with the pacing and format make reading this quite difficult.

The book is formatted initially with two timelines, before the crash and after, but the before timeline ends halfway through. I liked the before timeline, as it felt more lively with things actually happening. There is a sexual assault accusation in this novel, which was initially interesting, but ultimately I didn’t like, as I feel it is harmful for the overall image of these accusations. Male victims are real victims and accusations by both men an women are not frequently false. The after-crash timeline was a bit more depressing and all the unlikable aspects of her personality. This portion was also a bit more slow-paced and built like a drama. One character felt very interesting and creepy, and whenever she showed up I really enjoyed the scene.

The first half had very little actual mystery, but the second half did get better in that department. The synopsis does reveal a little more about the story that I would like, as there were aspects that were revealed in the synopsis that did not happen until the halfway point. The second half did feel a lot like mystery though and the final reveal and ending were the best part of the novel. It wasn’t predictable, with many different possible antagonists and lots of red herrings.

With a non-mystery style, unlikable main character and some questionable writing decisions this was not my favourite, but the ending did feel like a great thriller. I will definitely be interested in reading future novels from this author, and I would recommend this novel to those who like a drama-based mystery with a page-turning ending! Happy Reading!
